We had two rounds of dishes served, first being juicy baos and dumplings and second with pan fried dishes. I have to say the quality is great, we thoroughly enjoyed every dish.

Do yourself a favor: make a reservation, be on time, and order the xiao long bao. The best you’ll have outside of Asia. People don’t come here for Michelin star service - if you come with high expectations for service, you will be disappointed. Come with an appetite and ready for the dumplings: xlb, and the fried ones. Make them swim in chili sauce and vinegar. Get the fried rice and the spicy fried chicken. Your head will spin after a phenomenal meal.

I ordered the following:

Green beans
Spring onion pancakes
Xiao long bao
Crispy fried chicken in hot chilli

All of it was delicious. I especially liked the fact that they use quality ingredients. The chicken was fillet (eg. white meat) which is a rarity in chinese cuisine. It was one of the best dishes I can remember having at a Chinese restaurant. Cooked to perfection.

Also pretty fun to sit on the ground floor and watch the kitchen do their thing and make dumplings 🥟 😋

Definitely try to get here early or make a reservation because it is booked out.

Had dinner there the other night. The staff were very friendly and nice. The food was excellent, fresh and well cooked. We only ordered one dumpling dish but instead ordered from the main meal menu which was great. Booking required and definitely worth a visit to this place that has been there a long time.

Had Xiao long bao, pan fried dumplings, fried noodles and black pepper beef stir fry. They’re all good. My favourite was the black pepper beef stir fry (don’t remember the exact name) and it was really good. Went there on Friday night with walk-in and had seats with limited time. Still enough time though. Looks busy and popular.

Nice dumpling restaurant. Three stories tall, great food, good service, great for meet ups with friends or family. The seats were a little uncomfortable when sitting for a long time. The interior decoration was nice, lots of oriental decor. Tried ordering duck dumplings, but they ran out. Went with the pork dumplings instead.

Absolutely incredible dumplings! I didn't even know I could enjoy Dim Sum this much but the signature prawn dumplings may have changed my life. I would pass on the fried rice though. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. The building is small and you'll likely have to go up one or two flights of stairs for seating; make sure you arrive early or are ready for a wait.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. I went last night with three friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Very impressed with the pricing too.

This place is popular for a reason, very good food. Probably the best xiao long bao and chili wanton I’ve had. The wrappers are a bit thick and chewy, big pieces and delicious fillings. Also had the pork ribs salt & pepper. Very tender meat and delicious.

Had a lovely experience in this restaurant. Customer service was amazing with one of the guy making us laugh with his jokes and funny services. Foods are so delicious and yummy. Plus I loved our table that you could spin and share your food with other friends.

Great service authentic, yummy and fairly good wine list

Was a recommendation from our tour guide and did not disappoint. The things that are fried here are in peanut oil and the chili oil that’s on the table is also peanut oil, which wasn’t great to hear considering we have an allergy. But the soup dumplings (shao-long bao) we’re fantastic and the scallion pancakes were unique and great. The hot and sour soup had more of a Buffalo sauce spice instead of a traditional white pepper spice. The service was great and they were all friendly

Some of the best Xiao Long Bao in Melbourne - the flavors are incredible. We weren't the biggest fan of the vegetarian dumplings but I'll be back for more XLB! The atmosphere is more upscale than most dumpling houses. Service is fast and competent.

Great experience, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. The dishes we selected were simple - prawn dumplings, vegetable spring rolls, special fried rice and honey chicken! Oh the crispy golden morsels of honey chicken were a delight. Would definitely visit again. Images are copyright.

Mar 2022. Visited HuTong at the recommendation of friends. Bookings are always required as this venue is extremely popular. The manager was quite stressed downstairs, not helped by rude clients pushing for a table even though they'd been told twice already that the restaurant was fully booked.

We were on the second floor and served by the wonderful Dee. Dee was super friendly and talked us through the Menu items suggesting complimentary dishes. The meal was one of the best dumpling experiences in Melbourne of all time. The beans and pork mince were THE best. Such a simple dish, done superbly! If you're in town, definitely give HuTong a try.

Best dim sum and dumpling place in Melbourne! If you’re seated on the first floor, you even get to see them make the dim-sums.

I've lived in Melbourne for 8 years and this place is still my favourite dumpling spot.
Always quick and friendly service. Well priced meals with a great selection. Food is always delicious!

A mass of dumplings arrived mere moments after we ordered. The beer came quickly and the wine was fairly priced.

Clean, nice decor, quick service.

Melbourne has some very good Chinese cuisine. This is a one of the better places to try it.
