Best dining experience. The food was amazing but the experience wouldn’t have been as great without our server Jonathan. It was our first time going so we were kinda lost but Jonathan explained everything so well and was super approachable which we really appreciate :) Definitely made our night! can’t wait to go back!

Beef was very good quality, beef bone broth soup was very tasty and light. The chocolate mikan fondant was actually the best chocolate dessert I've ever had.

An authentic A5 Wagyu 🥩 Beef it’s soooo good and their Japanese Sashimi 🍣 are so fresh and tasty 😋. Niki Ou is a posh restaurant so be ready to spend.

Awesome meat quality. If you want to try top quality Japanese and Australian Wagyu this is the place. Wagyu is so tender and juicy. There are several BBQ spots in Melb that will say they have 'wagyu', but they don't really (can tell by the price and flavour it isn't). So this is the place if you want the highly marbled goodness of melt in the mouth beef. The Wagyu is a good as you get in Japan (because they actually get it from Japan).

We had a good experience here. We tried the Foie gras bibimbap, A5/M9 wagyu curry and Inaniwa hot udon. We highly recommend the first two dishes which were great.

We had a great experience during lunch at Niku Ou earlier today for my husband's birthday. They have a lot of options to choose from. The Oyster was so sweet and fresh! The wagyu set is perfect for two. I requested a dessert that says happy birthday but they advised me in advance that they don't have the necessary tool for it so I didn't expect they'd still give complimentary dessert with a candle. The ambiance is great. It wasn't so busy so the food came pretty fast. Thanks so much for your service Alynna/Alina. You mad our day ❤

BEST RESTAURANT EVER!! Love both Johnathan & Naomi, visited from Sydney and on both occasions, the service delivered was out of this world alongside with the food. Can’t fault this place. Definitely a must try when in Melbourne and left grinning all night. My favourite restaurant ever!

One of the best place to eat Japanesse BBQ. Food is heavenly tasty. Staffs are super friendly and professional. The interior is well designed and table has a private space with large couches.They serve high quality meats. Truly love how good their meats taste, it’s just melts in your mouth! The sashimi and rolls were super fresh and delicious. Highly recommended this restaurant, will definitely come back. 😍😍😍

It was our first time here from Sydney. Staff were very welcoming from the moment we entered. The cooking service was a great experience for us - appreciate their professionalism while still holding a friendly conversation with us. We ordered the wagyu set for 2 which was about $319 - also comes with a soup of your choice, we chose wagyu bone soup, wagyu tataki (pairs so well with the ponzu sauce) $31 - cut was so delicate and melts in your mouth, A5 konbu tare wagyu nigiri $31/2pc - again A5 just melts in your mouth, deep fried chicken wings $20 - the house-made marinade was good but overall these were average wings. We also ordered the yuzu mojito (glass) and a yuzu cocktail (they were nice enough to remind us it comes in a jug not a glass) $32 for about 4 glasses, and ended the night with whiskey ice cream - a shot of whiskey and I think liquid nitrogen (it’s what makes the cold smoke). The best A5 wagyu we’ve had, you’ll have to visit this restaurant when you’re in the city.

Celebrated my fiance and I’s anniversary and opted to try this place for a change. Needless to say, it exceeded my expectation and more! Naomi and the rest of the staff were professional and ensure our dining experience would be superb! She recommended the wagyu set and has great knowledge with the types of meat that she was serving and what other things to get to balance the meat platter. The Salmon Sashimi was extremely delightful aswell! Would definitely come back to try out other options☺

Niku Ou is hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants in Melbourne CBD. It’s not just about the premium Japanese wagyu and Kobe beef either, it’s the food, atmosphere and very talented wait staff.

In terms of food, you get options for bbq and a la carte menu. Everything is prepared fresh on site using the best quality ingredients by talented chefs. Every dish is a pice of art and the flavours will take you to places you didn’t even know existed.

The interior may not be for everyone, but in my personal opinion, I love the vibe and decor. Sometimes it gets a bit loud but then again can’t blame people for laughing and talking out loud while enjoying the food as good as this.

The staff, I wanted to leave for the last because they are PERFECT! Let me explain. Me and my date was 1 hour late, but they were kind enough to give us a good table on a busy Friday night. After we sat down our server was kind enough to spend good 10 minutes explaining the menu for us and helping us choose the right dishes for the occasion and even the perfect drinks to pair with the food. Being an enthusiast when it comes to pairing food with drinks I was very happy that our server knew exactly what she was talking about and we went with her suggestion. They also check in on you to make sure everything is good and if any assistance is needed.

This place is a must visit in my opinion.

⭐ Excellent Service. From the moment, we walked in, the host was most accommodating, we were served by Jonathan, Fantastic Person who made our night. In fact, all staff were friendly. As first timers, Jonathan recommended us the Wagyu set and Foie Gras Bibimbap.
⭐ Great ambience and environment. Good vibes.
⭐ Meat was of extremely high quality, cooked well and paired nicely with sauces. Very flavourful.
⭐ Will come back again. We were not disappointed and left with hearts and bellies full.

Great food and in my opinion, great service with helpful and attentive staff who were able to recommend what sauces went with what cuts of meat to best enhance their flavour. Only small issue was that the door to the restaurant kept slamming really loudly every time someone came in or out. I do think that was more of an issue for us though as we were seated close to the main entrance.

The minute we sat down, Linh the waitress was so attentive and so friendly. She was very bubbly and made the dinner less awkward and actually fun. We had the platter as she recommended and she explained the different wagyu grades and explained how she will be cooking each meat. The A5 sirloin melted in our mouths as she had promised and the spicy soup was memorable. I tried to my best to contact the restaurant to make sure nothing was sold out prior to my 9:30pm to which they reassured me I everything was in stock. Unfortunately the Japanese toro was out of stock BUT I’m glad it was because we ended getting chicken wings and it was the BEST chicken wings I’ve ever had in my life. Everything we had was the BEST version of what that dish could possibly be and we were so blown away by every bite.

I don’t normally dine at fine dining restaurants nor leave Google reviews but this was such an incredible experience and the best birthday dinner we had. I’m writing this 2 hours after we left because I didn’t want forget to leave this review for anyone else who may be hesitating - just go!

One of the best Japanese fine-dining experience we've ever experienced. We went to Niku Ou on New Year Day to celebrate the holidays as well as a family member's birthday. We were so amazed by the wide selection of absolutely fantastic dishes, ranging from fresh sashimi, oysters, nigiris and foe gras toast. We were particularly impressed by the scampi carpaccio - juicy fresh and perfectly seasoned. The grill dishes with premium Wagyu beef slices do melt in your mouth - extraordinary! As the cherry on top, our waiter - Chris, is so funny, helpful and super knowledgeable. He explains the dishes clearly, helps us grill the complex meat slices to perfection and gives us a wonderful dining experience. I sincerely could not ask for more. Thanks Niku Ou team for such a memorable experience. Already hungry for more. Uyen.

On top of the food being phenomenal the highlight of our birthday dinner with my partner is the service. We were served by Lucky and he's quite knowledgable about the menu. He provided excellent service, and made our night so much fun with his intersting stories, he cooked the wagyu beef for us perfectly. The meat melts in your mouth and the sauce that came with it is perfect. Definetly coming back with my friends, worth every cent! AMAZING 5 starssss <3
