Beautiful place in Thornton. Been trout fishing here since l was 7 years old some 50yrs ago. Holds sentimental memories for me.

A great stepping-off spit for fishing the Goulburn River. Thornton is only a few kms away.
The only negative as of a month ago (Oct 2023), VicRoads have barricaded off access to the parking on the Thornton side (part of the old road), so now you can only park on the Alexandra side. Very bas decision Vicroads!!! It has exponentially increased pedestrian safety as now tripled the number of anglers walking across the bridge.

Simply park near the bridge and walk down river along the fence line 200 mtrs, make a right back to the river to the area with 100mtrs of clear river access to find lots of rainbows eager to take a lure.

Trout fishing on Monday before ANZAC day.
Heaps of people. Hard going out there. 3 fish caught over the course of the day. (8 hours) river has been THRASHED over the school holidays.

Great place to fish beautiful rainbow trout but small parking area and no shops around not a place to take your family, can get a little crowded it's not really taken care of much,fast flowing current can be dangerous
