Trautenfels Castle

Excelent presentation of ancestors life and work in the surrounding mountains. Even actual exhibition of medicine history and its progress was very nice. Good alternative for bad weather, but it deserve visit even as your main program.

Very nice museum, where you learn a lot about the history and nature of the area. A self- learning visit gives You enough time to discover all the magic of the place. Rooms are thematically equipped according to various subjects with added video, sound or 3D projections and records. The view from our the top of the watchtower finishes the experience.

This castle contains one of the best museums of the region. It shows the history and traditional lifestyle of the people who live in the alpine region of Ennstal in a modern layout. A hot tip is the fish restaurant below the castle.

Beautiful view even in rainy weather. Free parking and big balcony to view the area from.

Trautenfels Castle (German: Schloss Trautenfels) is a palace located in the district of Liezen in Styria. It lies directly on the Enns at 673m in the municipality Pürgg-Trautenfels on a cliff protrusion at the foot of the Grimming.

Really nice Castle, specially in summer when you can clearly see mountains surrounding it.

The exterior combines fortifications with the looks of a residential castle. The interior houses a Museum of Folk Culture for which you need a lot of time. But the highlights are a charming bedroom with frescoes depicting fantastic landscapes and the marble hall with its murals and painted ceiling of scenes from the Greek mythology narrating the story of the golden apples.

Beautiful castle with great views from terasses. Very modern exhibition about regions history - very interesting. Not many visitors. Free entrance with Schladming Dachstein Card. Great fish restaurant near the lake at the base of the castle - 5min walk from castle entrance.

From the outside - very nice! Amazing view from the tour (free entrance).
Exhibition is in German, for other languages you will get booklet (we decided to avoid..), price - 9,50 euro for adults.

Always good to see on my way becouse it means im close to the mountains :) but its already an impozant building. I just seen it from the outside but to me its perfect view

The best museum what i ever see. Better then Bad Ischl Kaiservilla Sissy museum. If you want to saw a miracle just visite this place. I hope i can see again in my life!
