Salzburg Airport

It is true that the airport is small and outdated and is more reminiscent of a large bus station. But that's the beauty of this airport, you can fly without the hustle and bustle, and in good weather it's especially nice to fly here on the edge of the Alps. I have never had a bad experience. The staff are very helpful

A station to fill up bottles with free tap water, like other airports already have, would be nice!

Very nice small airport. Check in of luggage and security checks went smoothly without much of a wait which was a lovely surprise for a small sized airport. Decent sized shop to buy some souvenirs and chocolates etc before you leave. Helpful staff

Small airport but contains what you need.

The food in the rooftop restaurant is unexpectedly great, and the services are nice.

The security control took us a 5mins, as it is a small airport.

For tax refund you will need to get a stamp from customs, and send the tax refund form to a yellow post box. As it is a small airport, the customs officers are not usually in the office. Better complete the tax refund in the outlet nearby.

The bus services to the city center is convenient, it only takes 30mins. Tickets is cheaper when you buy it on the machines, and there is 24 hours ticket available, in good price.

We have recently been here to get to Salzburg and on our way back to London. The airport is a small one, you will find no problems findings your way around. The staff at the airport are very friendly and helpful. There is a decent sized duty free shop if you want to do some shopping. I recommend Salzburg Airport. Thanks

Easy to navigate and quite a compact airport. We passed security checks fast, without encountering any issues. Maybe there where not a lot of flights that day as it was wendsday . It really suited our needs ,as we were there for a short trip , and we got back to London Gatwick in less then 2 hours. Nothing else to ask, we are quite happy and definitely will use Salzburg airport in the future again

Salzburg Airport (IATA: SZG, ICAO: LOWS), branded as Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart, is Austria's second largest airport. It serves Salzburg, the fourth-largest Austrian city, and is a gateway to Austria's numerous ski areas. The airport is located 1.7 NM (3.1 km; 2.0 mi) west-south-west of Salzburg city centre and 2 km (1.2 mi) from the Austrian-German border. It is jointly owned by Salzburg municipality (25%) and Salzburg state (75%). Salzburg Airport consists of two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 is the main building featuring 26 check-in desks, several service counters, some shops and restaurants and a visitors terrace. The airside area consists of 10 boarding gates which can be used for Schengen and non-Schengen destinations. As there are no jet bridges, walk- and bus-boarding is used. Terminal 2 is the much smaller one and features nine additional check-in counters and 4 boarding gates as well as a designated area to check-in skiing equipment. It has very limited passenger facilities due to its use for seasonal peak-time traffic. The airport is located 3 km from the city-center. Salzburg trolleybus lines 2 and 10, each with service every 10 minutes, connect the airport to the rest of Salzburg's public transport system. The main station is reachable in about 25 minutes and the inner city in about 30 minutes.

It’s Small but quick and fast compared to other small airports.

The boarding employees/crew of Lufthansa are extremely nice and helpful. The airport is small so you get in and out very quickly since you don't have to walk for kilometers on end

Great place for General Aviation. Handling was excellent and well prepared for our arrival. Quick security check and quite reasonable landing fee. Vielen dank, LOWS! :)
PS: I highly recommend visiting Red Bull museum nearby, it has stunning static display including both F1 cars and aircrafts (no entrance fee).

I've used this airport for 25 years now and was always pleasently surprised how simple the whole procedure is. It's small so no long walking distances. Security check is quick. Any item that's dubious (cigar cutter, etc)? Sorted in under a minute in all 3 occurrence I had. I normally arrive 60 to 45 minutes before departure.

Staff has always been friendly and personal.

The view from the plane is one of the best I've come across!

Very small, cute and cozy airport :) First of all everyone is extremely polite, gentleman in the security was very helpful about the liquids in my bag. Ladies in shopping area are cute too. Not much waiting at the security line, only few people in front.

Pleasantly happy with this small but functional Airport. Flew in from Gatwick Airport with British Airways to start an adventure around Europe. Passport control was quick and easy. Airport was well sign posted and it was very easy to get to the city centre. €2.20 for a bus ticket straight to our hotel front door.
