Sente: The Flavour of Lotus

This restaurant was a recommendation from our hotel and wow what an excellent recommendation. It is a charming venue, a little peaceful haven. Super friendly staff that can’t do enough for you.

Our choice was vegetarian and vegan, and we were not disappointed.

We started with fried taro and brown rice cake filled with mashed lotus seeds. It was melt in your mouth amazing. For mains we had stirfried lotus seed noodle, mushrooms and deep, fried tofu with sauce. We also had brown rice pizza, with eggplant, dried tomatoes, pine, nuts, pesto, and mozzarella cheese. The food was light, flavourful without reliance on condiments.

The food was extraordinary- we didn’t get the set menu but chose a few appetizers and two mains to share.
The cold salad with tofu was very tasty, so was the one with mushrooms. The spring rolls were nice but nothing surprising ☺
The salmon was seared but served cold which was nice and the fish still had great consistency. The “crown jewel” was the main dish with sticky rice in a banana leaf with grilled white fish.

Delicious, creative Vietnamese cuisine in a refined space. Staff is very helpful with recommendations. We can’t wait to come back to try more dishes!

Everything here was absolutely amazing! The service here is above and beyond. My husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu along with a bottle of wine. The staff here go above and beyond with their service. The food was so delicious with a well planned tasting menu. I would recommend this to all of my friends.

Love that they preserved the authentic flavors of each ingredient while using minimal seasoning to create a harmonious taste. Their dishes are also thoughtfully paired with the theme ingredient, lotus.

From the drinks, food, to the desserts, everything is carefully seasoned to show off the elegant and subtle taste of the lotus, of which all the different segments are highlighted. Excellent customer service. Favorite was the "five blessings" duck with crunchy ambarella leaves.

The atmosphere is relaxing, food is very delicious. Not a fan of their drinks but each dish I tried I loved.

A cute restaurant with Eat Clean concept inspired by traditional Vietnamese and pan-Asian dishes (Japanese/Thai). Ingredients from lotus such as seeds, stem , root etc are featured prominently. I really enjoyed most of the dishes, including desserts.

The lotus seeds and roots were excellent. We went with all the vegetarian dishes mostly.

I highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered grilled pork, short ribs and pomelo shrimp salad. Every dish was exquisitely prepared and bursting with flavours. The ambience is very nice too. I’ll definitely be back again. (One suggestion: the coconut drink would be better served cold instead of room temperature. It was 39°C in Hanoi that day, a nice cool coconut drink would’ve been most satisfying)

Restaurant with a very interesting menu and great flavors. Ingredients were very fresh. There is focus on lotus. We had a vegetable, tofu and mushroom soup, a type of sushi with eel, and dishes with grouper, and with a type of bass in our dishes. Some were a bit difficult to eat (for a foreigner I suppose) so don’t wear clothes you’d like to keep clean. Presentation of the dishes is beautiful. Service friendly and helpful. In short, recommended!

Food. Next level. But service. You know when someone is really interested in your feedback. I suggested they do nothing about the menu. It’s perfect. The service. Perfect. But I recommended they really build out the wine menu to genuinely cater to the international traveller that is willing to spend a few $$. Wonderful night.

Make reservations, often more than one day in advance, as this special place fills up quickly. We had three dishes and they were all quite delicious and beautifully presented. The lotus leaf with black sticky rice had a nice quantity of Australian short rib of beef inside with other tasty bits. What was described on the menu as being simply “duck“ turned out to be a lovely duck breast with a tamarind sauce. The salmon was not a huge portion but delightful nonetheless and worth the price. The combinations of ingredients and the flavors are artistically combined. Pricing here is moderate and the environment is peaceful and lovely.

Had two different fish and lotus seed icecream. All delicious! Nice quite atmosphere and super-nice service.

It’s a little hard to find this hole in the wall cafe but it’s definitely worth it! Apparently they take reservations so i recommend that because they seem to book up even for lunch. We tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious! Spring rolls were probably my favorite.
