As many times mentioned, do not expect western Michelin standard. You go there because of the food. And this was nice. Interesting combination of tastes, everything fresh, tasty and nicely plated.

The staff were kind but chaotic, probably because of so many orders and customers.

At the end the price of approx. 20 EUR was absolutely great value for money.

Conclusion: if you want to experience something slightly different, good and you don’t have posh Michelin expectations , you won’t be disappointed.

We came here by recommendation of a local, completely unaware that it was a Michelin starred restaurant. After finding out, I was surprised because of how affordable it was and how good and plentiful the food was. We got a set menu which came with wide assortment of Vietnamese traditional dishes and two non-alcoholic drinks- the pandas soy milk and the seasonal apricot lemon juice. Some of the flavors like the pickles were a little too new for us, and also, if you are a super taster like me and cannot eat cilantro, I suggest you let them no before so that they can exclude it from the shrimp rolls. We got all of the food and drinks for two of us for around $34 USD total, which was crazy to me how affordable it was compared to the price tag Michelin stars usually come with. The service was also quite good, with the waitress even asking about dishes we hadn’t touched too much to check and see if it wasn’t good for us. Overall, a nice meal with good food and good atmosphere. Recommend.

My recent visit to Tam Vi in Hanoi was an absolute delight. This restaurant truly stands out with its authentic Vietnamese cuisine, serving dishes that locals enjoy rather than those tailored for tourists. Set in a cool and contemporary space, Tam Vi offers a unique dining atmosphere that’s quite rare in Hanoi. The menu features classic northern Vietnamese dishes, each more delicious than the last. The vibrant flavors and stellar presentation made the food unforgettable. I’d recommend coming in a larger group to have the chance to try more of their exquisite dishes.

Michelin star restaurant with local Vietnamese food! Great food at even better prices! Best to make a reservation if possible - we got our hotel to make a call to the restaurant for us.

Staff were able to accommodate gluten-free restrictions which was great! Ordered 3 mains shared across two people- we were stuffed!

Also worth noting that they have a 2 hour limit on dining time.

For those with gluten allergy please note that the tofu dishes contain soy sauce so you might want to avoid that.

Have read some mixed reviews for Tam Vi but wanted to give it a go given recent Michelin star.
The real gem here is in the food. Delicious Vietnamese dishes prepared for you fresh and at a reasonable cost.
The dining experience isn’t exactly ‘Michelin’ with service being a bit hectic but as I mention it’s all about the food!
Would definitely recommend if you are in the area and want to give it a go.

Tam Vi absolutely deserves a 5 Star rating from me! It’s a 1 Star Michelin restaurant with super reasonable prices and every dish was cooked to maximum flavours and texture! I will definitely come back every single trip I’m in HCMC!

Quite a lot of reviews saying this place doesn’t deserve Michelin one star, I don’t agree. Tầm vị‘s dishes are authentic and nostalgic, mainly serving Northern Vietnamese cuisine. We like the simplicity and the freshness of the food ingredients. Spring rolls are mild but crispy and light, tomato and clam soup is refreshing, stir dried morning glory tastes homey tgt with rice, nothing really fancy but for us it’s a very comforting dinner.

Lovely service , delicious food . Love the most is the environment that bring me back to the old time. The restaurant is very old building .
Portion is very generous, order carefully unless you are very hungry or big group

2 people, we ordered the set number 1, which will come with many dishes such as tofu, pork, fish, morning glory and steamed vegetables. The dishes portions were abundant and were all pretty good especially the tofu and the morning glory. The fish was one of the least liked as it felt a bit overcooked and not that much flavourful. Overall good service, but it is recommended to make a reservation as the place had a long queue.
The total bill came at around 800.000 VND with drinks, recommended!

This restaurant got Michellin Guide 2023 and I love it! I ordered Vietnamese caramelized pork and eggs. Best to eat with rice since the sauce is a bit salty. By the way, they gave a lot of rice. Probably can be eaten for 2 people. I think the pork is a bit hard to chew? Would be better if they make it more tender.
Oh and after you finish eating, they will give you watermelon.

It is a very beautiful restaurant. The restaurant has a romantic atmosphere and it was a perfect place for a romantic lunch with my wife. The restaurant offers authentic vietnamese cuisine. The staff is very pleasant. The menu offers a large selection of starters, soups and main dishes so it took a while to pick. The meals were delicious and we were happy that we could enjoy a beautiful and romantic lunch in such restaurant. I recommend visiting it, because it is a very nice experience.

Nice ambience, good service. We arrived at 11.30am without any reservations. The restaurant was empty but packed with reservations. They welcomed us in but told us we needed to finish our lunch by 12.30pm for the next guests who made reservations. We were attended to promptly. We love the braised pork and ambience. We finished our lunch and paid for the bill at 12.25pm. The restaurant was full then.

Great restaurant.
Booking in advance is highly recommended. We went there on a Wednesday at 5:30pm. They asked us if we had a booking. We didn’t. Hopefully they had a table for 4 but we had to leave maximum at 7pm.
Service was good and the dishes yummy.
Price is reasonable. 1 Michelin star is well deserved.

Well my first Michelin star restaurant. It was absolutely as good as it gets. I am honored and so happy to get to taste the authentic and home cooked food of Vietnam. Staff was friendly, food was served very fast, freshness guaranteed, very reasonable pricing. I'll go back again for sure to try more dishes.
Love the dishes names in English ☺ and the set menus are great for at least 3 to 4 people.

Great restaurant….

Booking in advance is highly recommended. The food are outstanding. Basically it’s a home cooked food concept that Vietnamese Grandma or Mom prepares daily food for their children. The prices are affordable.

This place is highly recommended.

A real pearl among Hanoi restaurants! Food was just amazing! And way much cheaper than expected. Prices are at the level of normal restaurants in Hanoi (we didn’t expect this taking into account the Tam Vi is Michelin star restaurant). They have big choice of typical Vietnamese dishes. Everything we ordered was really delicious but I highly recommend to try caramelised pork belly and pork rolled in the cabbage with tomato sauce! I only regret we discovered this restaurant in very last day which we spent in Hanoi (otherwise I could have eaten there every day probably:))

If you’re looking for an honest review from a local Vietnamese of this place, I can tell you.

1. Food: We were 2 people and ordered Hữu Thanh Set (which was 700K VND) and it was too much for 2 people but we still managed to finish them all. The food was delicious and definitely has an authentic Vietnamese taste. Hữu Thanh Set has the basic dishes that a traditional Vietnamese family would eat everyday for dinner. For the drinks, we ordered Nước Sấu and Nước Mơ, these are special drinks from Northern Vietnam, the taste was good but I don’t like that the drinks were not cold enough and was a bit too sweet, but I highly recommend you guys to try them if you’re interested in traditional drinks.
2. Service: staffs were nice and professional. You must make a reservation in advance or else there won’t be table for you. I booked 1 day in advance and they said they are full from 7PM so there’s only table from 5PM and you must leave by 7PM. It was ok for us so we took it. They open at 5 so if you come early, you will have to wait until 5 for them to start making the food, we came at 4:45 so we waited for so loooong. Another thing that I don’t like is that they don’t bring all dishes at once and the waiting between the dishes were too long, they brought me the vegetable first then the fish but did not bring us the rice, so how can we start eating??? The restaurant was not that full at the time. Overall too much waiting until we can actually start eating.
3. Decoration/facilities: It was nicely decorated like an old traditional Vietnamese house with some frames and ceramic utensils, very pretty. But for me the lights were too low it’s almost difficult for me to see, but I believe it’s their intention.

Overall it was a nice experience and I definitely recommend both foreigner and local Vietnamese to visit this place when they are in Ha Noi!

Made reservation in advance and went for dinner on Sunday night at 5 pm. The restaurant can accommodate bigger groups on ground level and smaller groups/single diners on 2nd level. The atmosphere made up for the lack of view from the restaurant. Food was amazing with fresh produce used. Highly recommended to get white rice to pair with the saucy dishes. Homestyle cooking with elevated taste!

It is one of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Hanoi and specializes in Vietnamese food. This is a place with a long tradition, and I am very satisfied with the taste, atmosphere, and staff service.Advance reservation is required.
