Ba Duc Ancient House

Remarkably lavishly decoration with antique furniture and columns covered with beautiful inlays. Very interesting to see the planning of a historic Vietnamese house. The extensive garden contains a wide range of Vietnamese fruits and herbs. I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to visit this historic treasure.

A small ancient house located on the bank of the river, only a small part of the house has been preserved from ancient times, and the land around the house has been completely rebuilt.

I think the people that said this place was “just okay” probably didn’t spend the night or stay for a meal. We were so lucky to have some of the family share the background information on the impressive old home. The family pictures on the walls show a personal touch we didn’t see in other fancy homes we have toured. The wooden structure is built high to protect from floods and the furniture is all ornate and beautiful.
The gardens are luscious and very peaceful to roam around in. I loved hearing birds and enjoying the sunshine.
They sell the family rice crackers here but I would recommend arranging for at least one meal here. They were accommodating to my food restrictions and all of the dishes were impressive. My favorite was the vegetarian soup even on the hot day I was there! The family was very hospitable and the meal was fantastic.

The house was built in 1938 and belong to the Phans, one of 2 biggest family names in Cai Be area at that time. It is the combination of 2 Eurasian architectural styles, called by colonial building. It is surrounded by the garden with many kinds of tropical fruits like mango, orange, longan, pomelo, ... The house was granted noble title by Emperor Tu Duc (1847-1883)

Best approach ~by boat from town, a delightful garden & 1800s original house , tour water way's from BaDuc house directly on the river. 3 meals a day a treat !

Great place for tourism, will be better if you open house for visit. Now we just tour around the garden. But it still be good

Worth a try. It's an ancient house, about 200 years old, and it is well maintained. The owner welcome us at the table near the door, and if you are curious about any details in the house, he will explain well. He can speak a bit English, and French.

Great ancient house to learn about Cai Be history. There's a restaurant behind which serves delicious food. Fully recommend the Ca Tai Tu.

Good place to explore at Mekong Delta. Anything need to know, just ask Mrs Ba Duc, her child is a Doctor- Professor lives in France. She sometimes offers you some Vietnamese snacks, you can try without buying.

Had a very nice visit to one of the oldest houses in Cai Be.
