Cai Be Floating Market

I would suggest going early early. We went around noon. As you can see we were able to rent a whole boat for just the two of us and rent it cheaply. But most the boats were closed down For nap time.

So amazing loved every minute of this fascinating culture experience the boats the house boats the hammocks swinging on the Mekong delta river near Cambodia the village markets the temples being welcomed into there village and homes cooking with them loved it

Cai Be Floating Market is situated in the area where the Tien River meets the 3 provinces, Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre. From Ho Chi Minh City, it will take you roughly 2 hours to travel by car to the wharf, followed by a one-hour boat ride.

There are quite a few things you should keep in mind before visiting Cai Be Floating Market:
- The boat rides will be somewhat rough and shaky, especially the traditional ones. Make sure you’re not a seasick type.
- Put on enough sunscreens and insect repellant. Dress properly with light clothes, as it might get a bit cold early in the morning, and then very hot after 9 am. Bring along a hat.
- Double check the price and stopping points before you hop on any boat.
Don’t forget to take photos of a huge Catholic cathedral on the riverside, which will look best on photos taken from afar.

Got moving a little late to experience the full glory, but beautiful to be out on the river eating fresh produce.

Such a great experience. Get a boat and do this. Catching the sunrise just before the market is special too. Make sure you get one of the fresh baguettes. Delightful.

In Mekong a must see. Wholesale floating market is different to all other traditional market concepts. Did you ever saw dealers negotiating from boat to boat. Amazing

So relaxed and untouristy. Drift along the river and don't get ripped off. Cheap and great fruit. Hop on the fruit boat and try and fresh coconut!

Here is no floating market from small shoppingboats but many other bigger boats to enjoy. There are many more reasons to come to Cai Be and Tan Phong for more than one day. There is much to discover by boat and bicycle.
