Location is a bit far out but a great gateway , where you can be restored both spiritually and mentally ! The staffs here are exceptionally friendly and lovely , Most villa are hidden among nature and is indeed a marvel as staying here is living with nature itself. Foods are superb and enjoyable ! The Spa have fantastic well trained therapists ,
The swimming pool is heated and comes with stunning views , The Best part is it has it own private waterfall ! Well hidden Gems in this part of the world , The experience in staying

If you are considering to book this, then do it. It was a magical experience and in every level the best it can be. What distinguishes this place from others is that the relationship between the staff and the guest seem to be in perfect balance and the staff seem to be happy and well taken care of. Looking for a way to escape the concrete and noisy jungle of Hanoi? Look no further than this mountain retreat's natural waterfalls and peaceful bird sounds. The rooms here are spacious and offer stunning mountain views, complete with a large balcony and king size bed. The staff is amiable and the food is absolutely delicious. While dining at the waterfall may be a bit pricey compared to other resorts in the area, there are still plenty of great options available at their two restaurants. Overall, this was a relaxing and rejuvenating trip to the mountains. A big thank you to Avana for being so responsive and helpful throughout the experience.

Utter magic, I cannot believe a hotel like this exists. The setting is STUNNING water falls, tropical jungle, butterflies everywhere. The staff are so attentive and kind. The design and little details are so well thought out, the buildings feel totally in harmony with the nature surrounding them. A world class hotel sensitively created. We are figuring out how we can make a trip half way around the world to visit again!

We initially reserved a two-night stay at Avana Retreat, yet our experience was so exceptional that we promptly extended our visit by an extra night. The hotel's remarkable location is matched by its outstanding service, stunning villas, and a truly breathtaking pool. Exploring the various nooks of the hotel was delightful, and their assortment of workshops and classes added a special charm to our stay. Reflecting on our time there fills us with warmth and a sense of contentment

TL:DR: 3 years old luxury nature retreat 3.5h from Hanoi, with good food, well trained and friendly staff, outstanding rooms and a infinity pool out of this world. Dont miss this gem

+ the infinity pool is one of a kind, and provide a stunning view of the nature
+ spa is superb, located in the middle of the jungle
+ we enjoyed the overall service very much, staff is friendly and super motivated to provide the best experience, english skills are medium but we did not bother
+ Food was tasty and plenty, a Little pricy but suited to such a luxury resort
+ rooms are huge and are in the middle of the Jungle with nice views
+ we did not do any excursions but they provide plenty options

Two things impressed me most:

1. Food was superb, and especially all european dishes which i normaly totally avoid in other countries. eg. The Steak and Burger were fantastic

2. They even have an app with all Information and the possibilty to book everything (spa, excursions, buggy pickups) and a Chat function with translate option which totally help with the language barriere you will find a lot in Vietnam. We loved this Feature

We would recommend this resort to people who want to pay more for an extraordinary experience dar away from busy Hanoi

Exceptional hotel located 4 hours from Hanoi in a great place in the nature
The facilities of the hotel are perfect (spa, pool…), many activities organized by the hotel (hiking jeeep…) and a lot is done to make us discover the local culture
It is a really authentic experience in Vietnam
The staff is also absolutely perfect they made everything to make our stay perfect
The only point is about the food that is not good enough for a place like this hotel, they really should improve this part to make the experience 100% perfect

What truly sets this retreat apart is the meticulous effort to incorporate the unique culture of the northwest ethnic groups into every corner. Avana succeeds in immersing guests in a cultural journey within the comforts of their stay, from the decor to the finer details.

Avana is situated in a remote location and offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. While this serenity comes at the cost of limited options for more affordable food and drinks nearby, the resort compensates with a diverse menu featuring authentic Mai Chau local cuisine. A noteworthy feature is the integration of technology, allowing guests to use their phones or iPads for convenient services such as booking buggy to explore the expansive resort. The information provided is clear and transparent, enhancing the overall convenience of the stay.

In addition to the cultural immersion and modern amenities, Avana Retreat offers a plethora of engaging activities. Guests can unleash their creativity through H'mong Batik Painting, an experience where you not only learn the traditional art form but also get to take home your unique masterpiece.

From the moment of check-in to our departure, the staff at Avana were consistently warm and friendly. Their genuine hospitality added an extra layer of comfort to our experience, making us feel truly welcome. As a delightful surprise, I was presented with a thoughtful gift upon leaving, a gesture that exemplifies the extra mile Avana goes to create lasting memories for its guests.

A must go if you spend time in Vietnam. Incredible resort with a stunning pool and great views. Good add-on activities incluye yoga and breathing classes (really recommend the latter).

Service was great. You download an app at your arrival to your villa and can call for a “buggy” that will come in the next 3-5 minutes and take you where you need. Hotel service will do your room and clean up while you’re away (several times over the day).

Only two things that can be improved:

- Employees struggle with basic english and sometimes it is difficult to communicate
- Restaurant: Food was overall good but limited offering if you want to take a day off on Vietnamese food. Would suggest incorporating more options

In any case, wonderful hotel. Highly recommended

An unbelievable experience in mai châu at Avana, and well worth the journey to get there. One of the best resort pools in recent memory. Everything in the resort was thought out to the smallest detail, beyond my expectations. Will be back guaranteed.

Amazing resort in beautiful location!

At Avana Retreat you stay in small villas around the resort. There is a main hall for dining, a spa, an outdoor infinity pool and view points. You can also dine at the waterfall or on your own balcony. The resort offers many different activities. I tried the yoga in the morning which was very enjoyable. After the yoga, I went on a guided walk for 2-3 hours through the rice field and visited a local house. The staff is very nice and friendly. Overall, I can 100% recommend the avana retreat

We’ve been travelling in Vietnam for over a month, this was hands down the best hotel we were at! There’s not enough words to describe how amazing it is, from the room, the staff, the cleanliness, facilities everything was thought of.
My only remark is that the food at the restaurant (the dinner) can be better- for what it cost. But that’s minor compared to the wonderful experience we had there.
It was the best way to finish our holiday.

We had a memorable and wonderful time at Avana! The staff is excellent and we liked the fact that 90% of the staff is local.
Some more fantastic things are the following:
- the Yoga classes with a magnificent view
- the choice of handicraft workshops
- beautiful crafted bungalows (earth-wall and rattan ceilings)
- the local cuisine
- wonderful views from everywhere
- great adventure trekking through a Hmong and Tai village and tropical forest habitat
- the fruits and juices

We noticed that some of the more Retreat classes (like Yoga and Mediation) were not highly attended yet. We encourage Avana to talk more prominently about it on their website.

We hope Avana will continue saving this place from mass tourism and engage in preserving the living and environmental culture.

Heaven on earth

One of the most amazing resort finds in the 2 years that we’ve been in Vietnam. A waterfall runs through the 15 hectare property replete with a fishing pond, stilt house, chicken farm, rice fields,duck pond, an amazing spa by the water fall, library, heated pool with a bar - there’s everything you need to make this a destination resort. Oh did I mention about the elegantly and aesthetically designed villas each with a unique view of the property.
The restaurant manager Sunny was so cheerful and helpful and so were the rest of the staff. Most staff are from villages nearby so you have to be patient with their basic English but most are genuinely service minded. If I have to nitpick on a few things - the pool could be more heated (it’s mildly heated), the food could be more consistent (some of the dishes were very good like the French duck breast while others were very ordinary - especially some of the cocktails).
Overall, one of my favorite resorts in Vietnam! Get there before it becomes ultra popular.

We took motorbikes around the area and stopped at Avana Retreat for lunch. We sat outdoors by the waterfall & ordered fresh spring rolls, duck breast with orange sauce, cave mushroom soup, and grilled eggplant with crispy onions. We met the chef, Nam, who told us he uses excusively local ingredients in his creations. It was an exquisite farm to table experience!

A stunning hotel with delicious food and drinks and very helpful staff/great service. We loved our stay and are already making plans to come back again.
