Having just cruised back from a epic motorbike adventure through the breathtaking Ha Giang Loop, I gotta give a big shoutout to Giang Son Hostel And Motorbike For Rent. As a solo traveler, finding reliable and affordable options can be tough, but these guys definitely exceeded my expectations.

The Bikes:
First things first, the bikes were top-notch. I rented a Honda Wave, which purred like a kitten and handled the winding mountain roads like a champ. They even threw in a full set of gear, including a helmet, gloves, and rain gear, which was a lifesaver considering the unpredictable Ha Giang weather.

The Owner, Giang:
But what truly sets Giang Son apart is the owner, Giang herself. Her English is great, which made communication a breeze, and she went above and beyond to make sure I had a safe and enjoyable trip. From providing detailed maps and suggesting must-see viewpoints to helping me book onward travel, she was a true gem.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind:
While everything was fantastic, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Be prepared to leave a deposit for the motorbike and gear, which is standard practice. Also, they do expect you to return the equipment in good condition, so be mindful during your ride.

Overall:
Despite these minor points, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Giang Son to any biker looking to explore Ha Giang. The combination of well-maintained bikes, fair prices, and exceptional service makes them a winning choice. Plus, having Giang's local knowledge and friendly personality as a resource is invaluable. We rent a motorbike for 4 days and can highly recommend this company. Here our pros and cons:
Pro:
- motorbike and equipment in perfect condition
- each rent comes with a complete set of helmets, gloves, solid raincoat and raintrousers, rain cover for bag(s) and rain cover for shoes
- the handling is very professional and the staff is very caring
- the pricing is amazing (180k for a Honda Wave)
- especially the business owner Giang speaks English, is fair and acts very responsible and professional

Cons:
- We broke one raintrousers on our trip and had to pay compensation for it when we returned the bike. It was explicitly mentioned in the contract we signed, but unfortunately in Vietnamese, so we did not know.

The best service that I have ever had!!!
You can have place to sleep (free) if you arrive at Ha Giang early in morning.
Motorbikes are super good to ride a long way.
All motorbikes have been checked very carefully before you rent 😘

Amazing Staff and Management. We haven’t booked a room, only the Scooters for the Ha Gaing Loop. The scooters are in good condition and cheap for the rent. The Management and Staff will help you with everything. You get a free shower after you are back and the staff service you really good. You can also let your Travelbags there and they will take care of it for you. You can also exchange numbers with the manager so if you have problems on the way they would help you. Amazing people there :)

If I have 10 stars, I would give GS 10/10 👍🏼. Great experience here, We rent a Honda XR 150 with 500.000 VND/ a day. They booked a bus ticket for us from HN to HG, a free dorm to rest, a free bathroom, and full of necessary items when traveling such as gloves, raincoats, and so on. We had an amazing tour of the ha giang loop with giang son. Their staff are very kind, generous, and friendly. We will never forgot our memories with them. Our private tour was also a better price than a group tour with other operators and everything was great!

Great team, super kind and supportive host. We highly recommend this rental. We rented a Honda blade which was very new, many things provided like gloves, rain ponchos, knee and elbow protections. Unfortunately during our trip we fell (a car in front of us didn’t give us enough space to turn - result: dislocated shoulder) and the rental host lady “Giang” was in touch all the time with us to help with: communication at the hospital, arrange a taxi and guesthouse in Dong Van which she both booked for us etc.

Then we returned back to Ha giang and spent some days at the hostel to recover from the accident. Very honest and kind approach with everything! So patient! We got a good room with private bathroom with nice breakfast and delicious tea! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the kindness, help, great 5* hospitality and exceptional customer service!

Giang was in communication with us through Hanoi and helped us get to the bus we needed. On arrival she was very helpful and answered all of our questions. They have many bikes available that they maintain on site and have a variety of room options.

Giang Son is popular with local Vietnamese people so it was a delightful experience. The other shops are money grabs but Giang Son is fair and very friendly.

I HIGHLY recommend Giang Son to foreigners.

We rent a wave alpha bike for 180k per day. The bike is pretty good condition. The price comes with raincoats, shoes coats, and gloves as well. Staffs are friendly.
They have a common dorm room, toilets and showers (have hot water) for us. We arrived at 4am, have a rest and showers before going to the Ha Giang loop. Quite nice service.

We rented a motorbike in order to do the Ha Giang loop. There was a big variety of motorbikes and scooters and in great condition! We had no issues during our travel! Also, they have booked the bus tickets for us which has been very helpful!

Great service!!! They offered everything you need for a road trip with affordable price. They even offered a room for our team to have some rest before and after our trip without extra charge. When I took a bus back to Hanoi with my wallet left in one of the rooms, without any hesitance, one of their guys chased my bus to give it back to me. Very happy to have chosen them!!!!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough! The owner is the sweetest person. We arrived at 5 in the morning and she got out of bed and greeted us with a smile. She gave us water and let us use the bathroom and shower. Then she sat us down and discussed the route with us. The bikes were basically new and in perfect condition. The bike was the best bike I’ve rented in Vietnam and worked great for every road we took it on—even the crappy torn up roads. The price was very reasonable and the service was amazing. Also, I hit a bump on one of the roads and knocked off a piece of the stand of the motorbike so it was missing the spring and she didn’t even charge me anything for it. She just smiled and said not to worry about it and that it was easy to replace. Thank you so much for everything and for helping us to have an amazing trip! Hope to be back someday!

Can't thank you u guys enough for your well maintained bikes! The owner is such a sweetheart. We were allowed to take some rest in the room before leaving Ha Giang(free of charge ), which was awesome!

A perfect place if you arrive by bus in the middle of the night and looking for a good sleep till morning, as the place allows a 24-hours check ins.
Our room was big and clean, there were hot water in the shower, and the check in process at 4am was really quick and easy.
The staff were super nice!
Breakfast was basic but good (an omelet, some vegetables, a bun and black coffee).
We also rented a motorbike and it was very good.

We arrived at 4am then got this nice place to rest and take a shower (all free) before renting a motorbike for the trip. The place is near the Ha Giang bus stop and exceptional clean, the owner is so kind and supportive. Everything is so good with very low price. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent service!
The hostel offer sleep-over for anyone arriving early in the morning for our Ha Giang loop trip. If you decide to have your own room with basic shower and king bed, it is just 150k vnd/night.

The motorbike and scooter are new and good function. The hostel even provide us with raincoat and shoes cover for our trip. So much attentive! You even can choose colour of helmet/bike for your group uniform.

The VIP sleeper coach Manh Quan (My Dinh Bus Station booth number 37) drops you right at their doorstep. I absolutely recommend this coach for their punctuality, comfort and cleanliness.

Giang Son can arrange it for you (VND 550k) but i believe if you buy directly the tickets are VND 500k for 2pax.

I rented a Honda Winner 150cc (VND 350k perday) for 4 days. In that time, i battled, explored and adventured roads, places and situations that will never be considered normal even a few hundred years ago. The bike won everytime, fortunately for my friend and me.

I personally suggest a semi-automatic or fully manual bike for the loops. Please take it for a test ride before you confirm the bike. Giang Son's bikes are very well maintained and they have many spares for you to switch with.

Doing the Ha Giang Loop, the most "common" issues that could cause very serious accidents are below:
1. The back brakes not functioning properly.
2. Worn tires causing you to slip.

To Giang Son hostel: Thank you for letting us rent your bikes. The loop was nothing short of brutal but we managed to complete it without detours or turning back mostly thanks to the bike.

Other tips:
1. Pack light, do you own laundry.

2. Raincoat and windbreakers are very very essential. When it rains, it could rain for 12hours straight with gusty winds.

3. Minimum temperature i encountered was around 15 deg celsius. Altitude usually 900m - 1500m.

4. Road conditions: Horrendous, some seem like they were bombed on.

5. If you are a novice riders, a good helmet, knee and elbow pads is a must.
