Dollar General

This is the cleanest, organized DG in Rockingham County, mostly due to proper management and excellent employees. Everyone here are always soooooo friendly, especially the cashier Darlene, she makes every customer feel welcomed. This DG is pretty well stocked, if you don’t see what you need, they’re always willing to run to the back to see if there’s extra whatever item you are looking for. If this store sold a small variety of produce, such as bananas or tomatoes like their sister store down the road, it’ll be perfect. I shop here every other week. Keep up the good work!

I realize this one is new & brand new bldg isle's seemed wider, shelves were fully stocked. Large Fall & Halloween selections Lots of choices of cold beverages OTC"s & cosmetics were displayed to please the eye. No wait check out. Friendly & fast. I've heard that employees who work for $ General, are expected to assist, answer phone, stock & run registers all at the same time. That's some heavy priorities & mult-tasking!

Never crowded

I was confronted by a someone, who did not identify themselves as a DG employee, about my service dog.

I normally don't have any issues in this store, when I was checking out the cashier asked if I would like to speak to the manager. I said no, after talking with her a few minutes she asked me again if I would like to speak with the manager. I said ok. the lady that came out happened to be the one that confronted me about my dog. my dog is always wearing a vest that states she's a service dog, I also walk her on a gentle leader that goes around her nose.

she said she had to ask if it's a support dog, I said no, she's a service dog. there is a difference. I don't know what the problem was. she did not identify herself as an employee, was wearing a black t shirt and jeans. did not have a name tag or anything identifying herself as an employee or manager.

please educate your managers that there are certain ways you can ask about a service dog and not come off the way she did. by law you can ask if they are a service dog and you can ask what tasks are they trained to do.

edited to add that any dog any breed or size can be a service dog. I'm not sure if a customer complained, which is usually the case, I've had managers of other stores ask me if my dog is a service dog and not come off the way she did.
