OMG, the Salthouse Store and More is such an absolute treasure, *everything* you could want or need to go camping or fishing, located just a few feet outside the gate to the Salthouse Branch campground. The best - and we (my wife and I) mean, the BEST - southern home-cooked suppers this side of the Mason-Dixon line! All served up by the happiest, most down-home hostess imaginable, Miss Michelle, who (along with hubby Jimmy) have created a go-to - yet small, quaint and country - oasis at the end of a long day on the RV highway. (BTW, you locals need to check them out, as well - y'all can eat an awesome southern supper on their back deck - Michelle says they're planning on being open year-round soon.) Oh, and their firewood (mostly locust, in our case) is reasonably priced and perfectly dry. PS: ask Michelle about her home-made desserts; you will NOT be disappointed. Seriously, this place rocks. Tell 'em that Gerald and Denise sent you. :):)

They are always polite and professional. I love mom and pop shops like this. Spend what you can here. Even though there wood is a little wet sometimes. They give you a good amount of it. 10$ of wood can easily last a family of 4 the weekend if you only do night fires that don’t rage all night. If you want to do that spend 20$ and you’ll probably still have some left over. NO I REAPEAT…NO alcohol allowed on camp grounds so it’s very family friendly and peaceful at night. 20$ a night for camping hot showers are included and restrooms cleaned DAILY. The lake is massive and the Smith river begins at this dam. Bass or trout fishermen paradise trout in the Smith bows and browns trout license required Oct-Feb but trout is there year round. Please respect this place. It’s a little gem and we have to keep it that way. LET’S GO BRANDON
