Syd's Book Shack & Boutique

We stopped in while visiting family in the area. What a wonderful used bookstore! The staff were so kind and helpful. There were couches to sit on and flip through book, there is a bathroom and the views of the salt marsh are beautiful! The children's area had a bean bag and tea set and stools for children to stand and reach the higher shelves. We will absolutely come here very time we are in town!

I was very happy that my sister-in-law told me about Syd's Book Shack when I was visiting. I always love to check out used book stores when I travel. Syd's was very satisfying with both quantity and quality. It was perfect for grazing to find something by serendipity and well organized enough if you're seeking something particular.

I love Syd's Book Shack!!! So many great books, and many are gently used and only a few years old! Every time I go in, I find a few books on my wishlist. So glad to be able to support not only a local business but a not-for-profit. Worth a look during your next visit to Guilford.

Visiting a friend from out of town and we stopped in…. What a wonderful shop. Great selection of books, puzzles and local gifts to browse. I especIally was impressed at how well the books were kept in alphabetical order by author, super easy to browse. I will be back on my next visit to CT.

Nice, well organized, friendly used book store. We went there today for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised! They take all the usual credit cards for payment, there were plenty of books and they were neatly organized by author. There is a small but well maintained area of old and special books and I was told that a lot of their inventory is also available for sale online.
They hope to move to a new larger site, still on route one but further east - just over the Madison town line.

I absolutely love this place! It is my number 1 bookstore to go to. Books are in like new condition. The bookstore is shopping friendly, easy to find authors and topics . They also have a cute boutique area for that perfect unique gift. The owners are super nice and helpful.
I love too that it is a non-profit. Get awesome books for a great cause! (They take book donations as well).

A recent find for gently used books, as well as puzzles & games. Great selection as well. Beautiful homemade jewelry is also available to purchase. Meredith & Paul are super friendly. It's a worthy cause so come take a look & spread the word.

This book store was a dream for this amazing family, in which they turned it into a reality during a pandemic. It has a warm welcoming and atmosphere. The books are donated and all proceeds go to a fabulous cause. If you have yet to pop in, it should definitely be on your to due list. Absolutely love it and the people.

Best selection of used books I think I've ever seen. On the day we showed up, there was a large sale. A teacher was on-site to watch kids so that parents could browse unimpeded. Amazing. Owners are lovely, and a portion of profits go towards charities. Wonderful place, wonderful people.

Syd’s Book Shack & Boutique is a hidden gem in the Strawberry Hill Plaza in Guilford. If you love reading, don’t want to pay full price for books, and want to support an amazing cause..this is your place! Your contributions whether it be book donations or book/boutique purchases help fund communication devices for non-verbal children with Autism. Everything about Syd’s Book Shack is so near and dear to my heart! If you ever have the pleasure of meeting Syd, she is an amazing and inspiring young lady. 10/10 would recommend this business!!

What a great store and and wonderful contribution to non verbal young adults of all ages. Profits are to purchase talkers so people can speak through the talker. Syd is the star of the store working as much as she can. Syd is non-verbal but she undersatnds and speaks throug her talker. Sometimes she tells jokes but most of the time she lets you know exactly what is on her mind. Visit the store and see how you can be a part of this growing business, Remember, you are helping kids with special needs who all play an an important part in our hearts.

Well organized and beautifully decorated! The people of the shop are very friendly and helpful. One of my favorite places to visit when I need a good book!
