The Upkeep Games - Howell

Of all the card shops I shop at, Upkeep Games in Howell have had the most friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable staff. I hope they are able to add more sealed Pokemon inventory from sets not currently in rotation, they've begun to add a few with individual packs of base series Team Rocket, Gym Challenge, and some Expedition packs. I hope they are able to continue to do this, even if they are only a year or two out of rotation as those type of things are always cool to see, at least for me personally!

Absolutely fantastic! I went there last night to learn Warhammer 40k, and I had a blast. Everybody was nice and inviting. I will be returning often.

This is a great place to connect with the gaming community. Everyone working at the store is friendly and willing to help or answer questions. I took my younger son to play in a tournament over the weekend and I've never met a group of kinder/friendlier gamers. My son can't wait to go back and to be honest neither can I!

Justin and Phil were very helpful! I wanted to get into a new card game and they as well as the rest of the staff were tentative to my questions. I did not want to spend too much time with them as there were other customers and events going on, but nonetheless they took care in making sure I made the right purchase! They even threw in some promo items as well! Overall, it was an awesome experience, and I would very much recommend going here.

Recently discovered this place with my sister! Staff was super friendly and even brought over chairs while we were going through their pokemon singles drawers. I love buying from local businesses over sites like tcgplayer because it puts the fun back in collecting 🧡

Full service shop for all your gaming needs. Super friendly and helpful staff, always eager to help with questions about anything in the store. They run tons of events and have a great space for anything you want to play. Be sure and stop by if you are in the area.

No chance that you'll have a bad time at Upkeep! Excellent and inviting space, great selection, and superbly helpful staff make this the premiere game store in this area.

Great local game store, if I could do more stars I would, good selection and pretty good at having whatever it is you are looking for or if not then they can likely order it or tell you when they WILL have it, plus they surely have something that you didn't yet know you wanted, and just as, if not more important when it comes to your Local Game Store it has a staff that is friendly and helpful, very casual and inviting environment more often than not populated with a smattering of players each involved in their respective game(s) of choice, they got some kind of event going on pretty much if not every day from casual play to competitive and sanctioned tournaments and more I'm sure.

Magic the gathering is my main draw to the location and for that its been everything I need in a lgs, they have TONS of singles, I'd point out that its a oxymoronic amount of singles (copious singles), surely the widest booster selection around, but magic is just why I personally tend to find myself there but it's far from all they offer, they also have a large selection of Pokemon and pokemon singles, and other card games like Lorecana and flesh and blood, a variety of card protection (sleeves and deck boxes / storage and transport supplies, they also have what looks to be a sizeable Warhammer selection and supplies to meet your miniatire needs. Speaking of miniatures
(and some not so miniature) they boast a formidable selection of D&D products,
I'd go as far as to say something clever like "they have everything but the kneepads for your next "dungeon crawl" 😅😜.
Whatsoever it is you require in order to set out on your first or latest adventure you will likely find it here, choose from a slew of accessories and Refrence material, be it for players to make it thru the deepest (and what turned out to actually be the most inhabited) of dungeons in style and most importantly alive, or if your party grows subversive and your aiming for immersive then why not widen your world, Max out your maps and trick out your traps with the latest modules, handbooks, manuals and guides for dungeon masters to ensure the party doesn't necessarily make it all in one piece (don't worry it builds character, and they had to learn what a mimic is eventually 😜) all this along with visual aids and perhaps just the (miniature) big boss you have been looking for to (wipe that contagious smirk off a certain high rolling bards lucky halfling face) tastefully conclude your campaign, check here it doesn't hurt to try and it's better than "rocks fall everybody dies" speaking of that... maybe you just need some Dice... because you always need more dice, and seeing as they got fish tanks full, surely that should suffice, so I'm confident you will find the perfect dice, ones that roll real nice and at a affordable price.
They offer all this and more and if they don't have it I'm sure a member of their helpful staff can order it or point you in the right direction.

I am not an employee or anything like that I'm just an advocate of supporting your local game store and have had a good enough experience with this store, both in terms of product selection, availability and quality (not to mention some good pulls) as well as the mtg pre release events I've attended, it's been nothing but positive so I'm just doing my part, alas I digress, just remember, if your looking for a place to play I hope to see you there, the more the merrier.

The employees were incredibly helpful and positive anytime I went to pick up an order, play in a tournament, or even just hang out and look at games and models, and because they make it such a positive environment, the community replicates that. I can always expect a person to be friendly and ready to talk about any hobby.

This was an amazing little store for gamers card and table top we came in as total noobs and the staff held our hands figuratively and answered every question we had it was a great experience and I would suggest everyone come In and check them out.

This is a 5 star for sure I love this place. As a 40k noob I cannot stress how welcoming the community is here. Competitive Large selection lots of play tables. And is always popping in a good way on the weekends! Don't miss out on the fun come on up!

Nice game shop. Traveled about 50 miles to get out there and wasn't disappointed. They have a large and very organized selection of Magic: The Gathering cards and was the only store around that had a specific card my husband was looking for, hence the long drive. They had a decent amount of board games and we picked up a game that's been out of stock at our more local FLGS, so that was a win as well!

This card store it’s honestly the best I’ve ever seen. It looks amazing, it has a giant selection of boardgames, in the employees are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, I have never had a bad experience here. i’ve made a couple friends here playing standard and modern. And I can’t wait to play dungeons and dragons on Saturday, I practically beg my dad every single Friday to take me here so I can play in a tournament. I’m not very good though but I always have fun. I practically spend every penny I get for buying things here. And they can’t wait to see the new store.❤❤❤

The absolute best card shop I’ve been to. They are so kind and fun to talk to. Not only did they remember me from prior visits, but they had cards they thought I’d like too. I also ask incredibly stupid questions and they could not be more patient and helpful. I always spend way too much money here, and I recommend this place to everyone. The goat

Such a great store! It has been a great experience to watch them flourish and expand since opening. They have an excellent selection of games as well as events and open play times for community engagement. The Upkeep is an exciting stop for the whole family every time we are in the area and have a few minutes to burn.

Owners are fantastic, patient, informative, and do the opposite of "gatekeeping" with any game. Their employees are the same. Absolute gem in Howell in a town that needed a place for games. I always go there for all my D&D needs first, though, in the Howell location, the inventory heavily focuses on Warhammer, mtg, and board/card games and merch. That being said, they still have a great selection of Pokemon, flesh and blood, and any other game you can think of. As well as minis and terrain that can be used across many ttrpgs.

They hold packed events for many different games, make sure to sign up early. Snacks and drinks are always available. Love it.

Very clean and spacious establishment. Greeted us as we came in. Not much dead stock, but also retricts the on the shelf products to the new hot or well known titles, be it board game, minis, etc.
