Safeway

Great grocery store. The parking underneath the store is very convenient and they have a wonderful selection of food and other items. They also have an elevator, which is very helpful and great because that way you can bring your cart to your car downstairs. Reasonable prices and friendly staff, a good place to buy groceries in the city.

I didn't really enjoy my experience as it seems the Safeway is open but during transformation and I am the type of person where I do not like really having to look for stuff so maybe after they are done fixing it up then I might give it another try

Now with the store fully remodeled I love it the isles are clear and easy to maneuver the deli area and produce and meat look spectacular. Doesn't seem dirty very much at all. Always clean looking and spotless.

Love the renovated Safeway- aisles seem wider, the lighting is better and the selections are great. There are a ton of self-check out kiosks as well as cash wraps. The employees are all very helpful and nice. Yay for union workers!

My only observation is that my phone signal (T-Mobile) is very weak there so it can be tough for me to text my family to see if we need additional items. That isn’t the store’s fault though.

Pro tip: park on the outdoor deck to get in and out. There are always random people driving into the covered parking to charge their EV cars so it can get congested around the charging stations/parking lanes.

Love that they have parking. People are friendly and very helpful. I was able to find what I needed. It's very clean also.

This is definitely the nicest Safeway I’ve ever been in. Wish the one near me had the same stuff.

The the best looking Safeway in the D.C area.

Good location. It is technically 24 hours but you can't check out at 1am to 1:45am for some odd reason.

Pretty dope grocery store. Clean and well stocked. Very friendly and handsome employees. I'm a big fan of the prepared meal section. Pro tip: load up on items at the salad bar and eat them all before you check out. Same goes for sushi and donuts.

Open 24 hrs...So convenient for buying birthday cakes at the last moment😄...

The Safeway in SW DC is set up.a little different with the Starbucks and the Deli in front of the store and the fresh produce is adjacent to the where the cashier and self check out is located. The store is well stocked as well a great selection of wine and beer.

I love this Safeway branch. They always have good options on the bakery priced-down area. And, there always the AMAZING Safeway 7 grains bread available in the store. I live in Takoma Park but i rarely find the 7-grain available at the Takoma branch.

One of my most favorite stores to do grocery shopping. Prepared foods (whole cooked chickens) are GREAT as are snacking options for 'on-the-go.' It's perfect for my grocery and lottery ticket needs as well.

I'm rating it a 5 because of its handling of business during the pandemic. The shelves aren't always fully stocked, but its pretty good. Mostly the rating is for their employees who have been helpful, pleasant even at times I've seen people give them a hard time, and always smiling. My experience with them has always been good, but staying so positive is not an easy thing to pull off under these circumstances. Impressive IMO.

The staff here are respectful and helpful especially in these difficult times. They have worked hard under pressure to keep the store clean and stocked. There were hand wipes at the front entrance and all of the staff had masks and gloves on. A fellow was using a machine to clean all of the floors too. It is up to each shopper to make good choices and keep a reasonable distance from each other.

I’ve shopped here for the last 12 years and I have always appreciated the hard work and patience of the Safeway team.

Huge location. Very busy. Super spacious and well stocked. Dessert and floral presentations are fresh and amazing. Deli workers were very nice. Would definitely visit this location again.

The "Social Safeway", as it is still a place to commonly run into people you will know while shopping. It it underwent a major renovation years ago, moving the parking underneath and adding additional space for storage and shops. The selection is terrific, and they have an additional deli and wine section with plenty of options. As the parking is right next to the intersection across from Hardy school, getting in and out of the location isn't bad.

Clean, well stocked, pleasant staff but I only go late night and early early morning as it is 24 hours. Cashier could ring faster and talk less but never had a complain about this store. Oh, at some point throughout the night the registers go down. I believe it's from 1a to 1:30a, so if you're in a rush, avoid that time slot.

Favorite Safeway in the area. It's undergoing some renovations, but that should be done soon. Anticipate rearranged aisles and some interesting smells due to the changes.
