Yesterday while my husband was attending a meeting and before going out to lunch with him at the very nice restaurant Tarks next door, I stopped by Matava Shoe and clothing store. I liked the shoes in the windows. I decided to go in and saw a pair perfect for my upcoming vacation. We were about 3 customers and 3 sales assistants and a small dog roaming around at the time. I was not greeted as customary (pretty important if you want to sell your shoes)! A very nice customer asked me if the dress she was trying on looked good on her? I proceeded in telling that, it looked very good! I was giving her my honest opinion that she really appreciated! No sales assistant was attending to her! Sudenly, the older rude sales assistant plonked herself between the customer and I to make sure we stopped interacting! So, I decided that, I would come back after lunch for the shoes that I had decided to purchase. Out of all 3 assitants not one saluted me on my way out! Just plainly ignoring me! I mentioned the whole episode to my husband over lunch and it was decided that they were not going to stop me buying the shoes (I felt like Julia Roberts in the movie "Pretty Woman", when she is very badly treated in the very high end store in LA!! HAHA! So, here I went again, and they totally ignored me...I had to go to the counter for one of the assistants to find my size if possible. The young woman never addressed me, she went to get the shoes, pass them on to me to try them on, still in total silence. I decided that I would purchase them, though the shoes are very expensive! I travel all over Europe and same shoes go for a quarter of the price! So I took the box and shoes to the counter! No help from the 3 of them! The transaction was done in total silence! Then the middle age assistant standing next the silent young assistant asked me finally a question: "Do you come here a lot?" What????? As I left the store, not one of them could mutter a thank you and goodbye!!!!! The rudest experience in 27 years since I arrived in the US.

The saleswoman’s was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I came in a few days ago and nice man helped me…I came back today to purchase but changed my mind after being treated terribly by this woman. I will NOT be returning. I highly recommend not giving them your business!

Very unpleasant experience ordering from this store. The staff was extremely rude and and when I tried to return a pair of shoes I was simply told they were final sale. I found the same shoes from the manufacturer were the retail price was 99.00 and this store sells if for $380.00 dollars.
I do not recommend wasting your money and peace with this store.

I had a very horrible experience at this store yesterday afternoon while looking for shoes for my wedding day with my sister. I walked into your store specifically because I had admired a pair of shoes from the window with my mother the day before. I came back the next day after making a purchase at Bare Necessities just moments before. When I entered the store. I noticed a small dog without a leash. Unfortunately, I am terribly afraid of dogs, and immediately backed out of the store. The salespersons saw me, so I waited for a moment thinking that she would restrain the dog while I looked. She never came to the door; she just continued to talk. So, I asked my sister to go in while I stood peering into the glass door trying to tell her which shoes I was interested in purchasing. An older woman came over to "assist" her as I pointed and tried to talk through glass, in an effort to tell my sister which shoes I wanted.

It was obvious that I was afraid of the now two dogs that appeared at the front of the store. Not once did the sales woman attempt to restrain the dogs and it became very apparent to me that she did not want to assist and really justed wanted my sister and I to leave. As I stood outside of the store, she did check the availability of one of shoes I wanted. But, it was very apparent to me that she didn't want to assist or make a sale. I am not exactly sure why she did this but . . . this has to be the worst feeling and experience I have had a store in my life. I have literally shopped all over the world and have never had such an experience.

This woman watched me struggle to tell my sister through glass which shoe I wanted and had the nerve to snatch the final shoe I was interested in from my sister, as I encouraged my sister to just come on because my business wasn't welcomed. I frequent this shopping area and will never come or recommend this store to anyone.

You know the way a salesperson shows you they don't want to help you without saying it overtly... This is the I was treated at this store. I walked up to the counter and a salesperson who has been there the other two times I visited kept steadily writing and then stared at her notepad. She refused to acknowledge me, leaving me standing there awkwardly. I finally said, "excuse me," and she she coldly said, "Yes." I tried on a pair of shoes, but wasn't offered any help. The two salespeople would walk past me pretending not to see me when I looked their way, even once ignoring my "excuse me" when they were clearly able to hear me. I don't like leaving reviews like this, but my last visit to this store left me feeling snubbed and very much unwelcome. The shoes at Matava are fantastic, but I'll never go in again.
