I try to go once a week...my niece works there. Great people working hard for a good cause. Now they are rounding up donations for Mayfield and Angle Tree. Gods servants...am blessed to know them.

Large selection of thrift store stuff. The people who work here are super kind and you can tell they really care about everyone who walks through their doors. They also offer food assistance and other things as needed. Super awesome group of people, and even if it is a "Christian" organization, they seem friendly and willing to help anyone who needs it, regardless of their views or appearance.

Great thrift store and prices overall. Much cheaper than the Paducah Goodwill and you can get more for your money here. They are currently under construction (They put a notice with Bob the Builder on the front door :-D) but are open to the public. I would say this is one of the best thrift stores in town!!!!!

I couldn't make heads or tails of the last review, so thought I would write my own. We have visited this store numerous times of the last four years, with probably a thousand or more in donations, and several hundred in purchases. The location is convenient, the staff are friendly and courteous, dedicated, and hard working. They have always been beyond fair. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .My experience is that Salvation Army, the company, would benefit immensely by going through all the stores and finding ways to make the receiving/stocking process more efficient. I think the employees do the best they can, but with a little extra money put back in facilities, and hiring a "process engineer" or "manufacturing engineer", someone really good in basic task management, I think they could make the jobs easier for staff, save money, and make more profit. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
For instance, at this store, instead of opening the huge roll-up door and letting condition air mix with the outside air, running up energy bills, corporate should build a walled room with a second rollup door, either inside or out of the receiving door. Only one set of rollup doors should be open at one time, drastically reducing energy costs. Alternatively, or in addition, a commercial "air curtain" could be installed above one of the exterior leading rollup doors. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A second suggestion would be that somehow items are stocked onto rolling carts that would double as displays, and thus when a donation comes in, rather than stack stuff into tubs that must be unpacked, items would be stacked right onto rolling multi-shelved stable carts. This would eliminate or reduce a lot of going through the tubs, simplify inventory, etc. That would also apply to clothes, instead of putting them into the current tubs they use, and having to hang them, hang the clothes on rolling carts from the beginning. If the system was set up that way, perhaps even some of that labor could be done by the people donating the items...bring something in and put it on the card ready for sale or sort...not just thrown haphazard into the bins as the current practice. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
A third suggestion is to give every story a computerized inventory system that automatically saves/prints the receipts, requiring only a hand signature when finished. The current carbonless copy system, though foolproof, is very time consuming when lots of items come in, and subject to great overestimation/underestimation, and lack of detail, when numerous items are brought in at once. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
One thing that does save this store money is skylights. I don't know if they had them before, but I can certainly imagine it saves a lot in electricity not having to run as much overhead lighting.
