Second Edition Books

Huge bookstore with a huge selection of books. Found a copy of an old book I collect. Husband found a decent science and math section. If you've been looking for an older book or textbook or specialty book, it might be here. Helpful, friendly staff. Great prices.

I was able to find online that they had a signed copy of a small print run of a book my great grandmother wrote 25 years before I was born. I had imagined that it may be years and years before I potentially was able to inherit my own copy from my grandmother.

I had the book shipped to me and it was processed and shipped out quickly. When it arrived, I was greatly impressed with how carefully it was shipped. The book was in the exact condition as advertised and I was so impressed with the care put into it. They had no idea the amount of significance this book had to me, and yet it was still wrapped and packaged in paper, cardboard, and a bubble mailer.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. I hope to be in Butte sometime soon so I can come pay this shop a visit in person!

I'm delighted to say I've been shopping at Second Edition for decades. I love it, the family loves it, and the city loves it. It's got so many strange and rare books, and it's great fun to wander the different sections and find all the books you didn't know you were looking for.

My husband and I LOVED this bookstore! We want to come back! It is so well organized and is a great space. Some used bookstores end up being complicated or chaotic, so it was nice to find such a lovely place. I felt like I was at Powell's World of Books but at a smaller scale. I would like to come back when I have more time to peruse the shelves since I was seeing so many oldies but goodies that I hadn't heard of or forgot about over the years. I was so excited over a couple of clean used copies of two books I have been wanting in hardcover but couldn't find suitable editions of. Their organization and open space makes it so easy to find what you want. Highly recommend this amazing bookstore!!!!! This is in my top five favorite independent bookstores in Montana out of all the ones I've seen so far!

Really big used book store for a smallish town. Quite a great selection of collectible books. Good prices. Friendly staff.

Ive been here twice and have loved it each time. Ive encountered two different women working there and they have both been very helpful when it came to tracking down titles or authors. Plenty of choices in the way of classics, sci fi, fantasy, fiction and history. The smell of old books, a maze of shelves to dig through.... its a great experience.

I was recently there looking for an old OOP series, which we couldnt find in-store, and the woman who helped me took down my name and contact info, saying she would reach out to me if she ever came across any. Based on my interactions with them and the atmosphere of the store, its going to become a mandatory stop every time Im passing Butte. Definitely worth a look!

Wonderful assortment of books for anyone! I loved the classic section and the collectible section. They even have a small comic area!!! The staff also knows exactly where everyone is (which is nice if you are looking for someone specific) and they are very friendly.

This is a WONDERFUL bookstore, one of my favorites ever! We stopped here on our way through town and ended up enjoying upwards of an hour perusing the shelves. Lovely location, organization, and helpful staff. Bravo!

Lovely space, kind and helpful staff. Very homey. The selection of reading is truly top notch, the only disappointment was that my budget didn't allow for the whole collection of Kipling.

The best used book store I have ever been to. It is a large space with a great selection. The inventory is very nicely organized and it is not crowded.

We found a book for every member of our family: kids and adults! There's a lovely children's area inviting the smallest of patron's to discover the joy of reading and the staff was friendly, but not pushy. We're sure to be back the next time we visit Butte.

Big for a used bookstore. Knowledgeable workers. Real history books, technical subjects, cooking, sci-fi, etc. Lots of places to sit and explore the books before purchase. They were very kind to us and knew the area well.

I had to do a review of this little book store. I love the ambiance of course! It also smells truly wonderful in this book store. A mix of book and oranges I would guess, although the girl at the front told me no oranges around. Hm. I am guessing now a ghost that smells like oranges. Books carry ghosts if you didn't know.

Spent a few hours in this place while visiting from out of town. There is so much to look through! There is a large selection of mining and engineering books, which was neat. Also vintage sewing books, which are a personal favorite of mine. Definitely want to visit again sometime!

One of my absolute favorite places to stop in in Montana. I am from Missoula, but this bookstore is like a Mecca for me. I’ll never go to Butte without stopping in to see what I can find. Their classics selection is amazing, lots of very good condition vintage leather and beautifully embossed fabric bound books, just like you want. Yet, Great selection of paperback editions as well if you’re looking to save a little money. Their cookbook collection is gargantuan. I’m like a kid in a candy store. Fun, friendly and helpful staff. Second edition books has a special place in my heart
