My favourite store for buying daily necessities when short on time. It's a bit more expensive than Costco, or Walmart for vegetables, but they have good products. The salesmen are usually nice. I prefer Smith's as it's small(most of them) so it's easy to find everything really quick. There are multiple checkouts and self checkout service as well. It has handicap parking, and entrance. Dogs and cats are usually not allowed unless it's a service animal.

5 star customer service :) didn't have what I was looking for but the employees were very sweet. One of the employees named Gilbert went out of his way to help me look for the half gallon of half and half that I wanted but wasn't there so I seen a smaller size that was on sale or maybe it was in the wrong spot but when I took it to checkout it didn't ring up the price I thought so I told employee Marie that I was gonna leave it there and apologized and instead she gave me the price I saw earlier!

Just the staff here knows they are appreciated. In a town where after 8pm is like forbidden shopping hours, these guys kick it till 11pm, are never nasty about getting you out, and it's nice to know there's one spot in town that honors its hours and doesn't tell you when you walk in that just so you know we close in whatever minutes it may be. 😉

I just witnessed the most blatant racism from a customer against employee Kobe - whose always been nothing but kind and helpful. Kobe deserves a raise for putting up with such ignorance day to day from our rude neighbors or at least employee of the month for doing so with such grace and poise. I really love this smiths but I’m disappointed by the patrons who shop here

The guy at self checkout (don’t remember his name) was so amazingly calm and peacefully kind with a handful of shouting indignant customers testing everyone’s patience around them. I can’t imagine working that job and not losing my mind on some of those people who came thru the line- shouting about if they didn’t get a discount on their orange juice they were “just going to walk with it”. The dirty blonde young man at self checkout SERIOUSLY deserves a raise.

This manager , Rachel is a superstar. I came on a day when they were short staffed and long lines. Yet Rachel kept her composure and kept announcing on the intercom the situation and guided the customers to most convenient options. Also when I came in there was no shopping carts available one of the employees cleared one for me. Great staff. Will definitely return

Love shopping at smiths on Arenal that's the best customer service experience I've ever had.. The Smith's on Yale is racial profiling profiling profiling and the manager got me confused with someone else and told me I was no longer welcomed inside their after shopping for 3 hours in her store. She stated that " she knows for a fact, I was in her store last week and ran out with a whole basket of food. Soo embarrassing I've NEVER BEEN HUMILIATED AND EMBARRASSED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!. NEVER SHOP THERE PERIOD. ONLY WHEN THE GUY MANAGER IS THERE!. 💯👍

Wonderful place with great integrity. I stopped in for trash bags and selected cash back at the self-checkout, but forgot to grab it. Allisa noticed after I had left and saved it in a office for me. Allisa, Kobe and Vincent helped me when I came back. I updated my smiths online profile and will start using this smiths (I usually shop at Albertsons). Thank you to the wonderful staff.

One of the best groups of employees and managers anywhere. We live diagonally across from the store, and we've gotten to know the staff, and they are genuinely kind and upbeat. They have great organic and vegetarian/vegan sections, as well as a good selection of everything else you might want for your refrigerator and household. But the selection doesn't mean anything without a good staff, and these guys are the best. It's the perfect local grocery.

Their was a young man who helped me when I had my toddler daughter with me today. I won’t say his name out of respect for what he did, but absolutely amazing. I just moved to the area and I will definitely be coming here from now for all grocery needs. Thanks very much, I greatly appreciate you a lot 💪🏽

Everytime I shop at this Smith's, I receive outstanding customer service. When I have had to ask an employee where to find something, they always walk me to the place instead of just telling me. The cashiers are fast and alway smile. I love the selections of Gluten and dairy free products.

I want to say thank you to this store but most of all Charles for assisting me this morning.
He went above and beyond to communicate and make sure the experience went as smoothly as possible.
I appreciate it!!

Is this "Ghetto Smith's?" Yes. It is the red-headed stepchild of all Kroger Company stores. It is the last store Kroger thinks about when they do their upgrades on other stores. The Kroger model seems to be, "Okay, while we upgrade all our OTHER stores, we'll send their castoffs to THIS store and bring them up to 1998!"

I have been shopping at this store for 30 years. I've seen how bad it can be. And right now, it's in Glory days! The staff at this store understand that theirs is not the cream of the crop, so most of them go out of their way to make your experience here a good one! The selection of products can be limited, but I generally come away with what I need. It's the interactions with staff that really set this one apart. From people whovee been there nearly as long as I've been shopping there to people I've met for the very first time that day, I am almost always made to feel like they appreciate me choosing this store to shop in.

I won't sugar coat it, though. It's in a bad location, and there is little effort to remove unsavory characters from the premises. On any given day you can expect to be approached by someone "just passing through and ran out of gas (far away from the freeway)" on your way in the store and again by the same person one your way out. The parking lot was restriped a couple years ago, and it literally is now "the parking lot from Hell." SOME (not ALL) of the staff who have been there for some years are obviously just bored with this sh*t. You learn to avoid them. The selection is not always that great, and sometimes even the Kroger equivalent of what you're looking for isnti available. I don't really fault the store itself for any of these things. I fault the Kroger Company for treating this store like it's just some secondary thing they're holding onto that makes money. As the only grocery in the University area, and the only one in the Southeast Heights, they've got an enormous customer base. And most of their staff go out of their way to provide excellent service. It boggles my mind why more isn't invested in this store by its parent company. This is a great place!

When I moved to the area people told me this was the "Ghetto Smiths." Apart from some awkward parking lot interactions, I find the store great. The staff is super friendly and they have all the basic groceries you need. And Kroger brand products are great!
