I discovered this jewel of a store by happenstance. My lucky day!
Alex is not only a talented designer -but his patience and taste are bar none. He is helping with updating my home and his ideas and assistance are truly innovative.
He has an amazing color sense and placement and I am thrilled with the final outcome. He transformed a dull dated room into a true masterpiece. I am so proud to entertain in this beautiful space.

I highly recommend a trip to his store in Pine Plains! As an aside I bought all my Holiday gifts there as well … great ideas at all price ranges!

Terrific store with beautiful items. We bought these placemats, napkins and a few Santa’s for our Christmas table and they looked stunning. Alex and Robert are both very helpful and friendly. It’s always a pleasure to visit and am thrilled at this new addition to Pine Plains!

I wandered into Demeter Home after one of my twice-yearly visits to Pine Plains. I walked out with two fabulous pillows, an amazing lamp that complimented my artwork beautifully, and a sheepskin throw in the perfect shade for my sofa. Clearly from the layout and furnishings in Demeter Home, Alex is a truly talented and creative designer. He was thoughtful, and patient and helped me with my selections offering constructive advice and feedback. Not at any time did I feel any pressure to buy. Browsing and then shopping at Demeter Home was a fun experience that I can't wait to repeat.

I heard about Demeter Home from a friend who purchased some pieces from Alex and I had to check out the store for myself! I was not disappointed to discover a unique curation of furniture, accessories, and gifts with both a chic and elevated feel, all on display in a most tranquil environment. Alex made me feel like family and patiently assisted me with my design dilemma. When your are in the area definitely drop in and say hi!

I spent hours trying to buy a particular lamp online recently. Many of the sites I looked at indicated it was back ordered for weeks to 4 months. Others showed the lamp as available when it was not. I finally called the mfg. and was informed that the lamp is discontinued, they have no stock and the websites are”mistaken” that they will be re-supplied. Deterred, but not quite ready to give up, I somehow came across Demeter Home website which pictured the lamp I wanted. I spoke with Alex (owner) and he truly could not have been more helpful and happy for me. I wish I didn’t live 1000 miles away from his beautiful shop, but for certain I will be looking at his website for future purchases! Thank you again Alex.

Love it, Love it, Love it! already dying to go back for some more cute stuff! I get so many complements on my Grace Jones plates, I wish they came in every size! I love my sheepskin rug, I never saw it in black anywhere else! The owner is super fun as well!

Found the most unique home decor. Owner Alex was super friendly and helpful. Loved everything! Wish I lived closer I would be there more often. But glad they have online shopping!!

I got to visit Pine Plains with a group of my friends over the weekend when we got lucky and stumbled upon this store. The inventory in the store was very thoughtfully curated with some of the most unique, creative, artistic and quality items I have seen anywhere. Turns out that the owner happened to be there that day when my group met him we understood by how the store came to be so expertly designed. He was so refined and kind which reflected the inner workings of his space. I ended up leaving with some super thoughtful gifts to give and keep as momentos of our trip to Pine Planes that were not kitschy and could be used and admired for years to come. So glad we found this gem of a store!

Worth the trip from anywhere! Such a welcoming atmosphere. The place to go whether it’s for a candle, tableware or furniture. Alex has an eye for fabulous home decor and it’s impossible to leave without purchasing something because everything is unique.
