We took a private course with nine people and Bob was clear, concise and thorough. His training and combat experience coupled with the numerous recommendations from law enforcement officers made it a no-brainer.

We were able to complete the training requirements for CT, Massachusetts and Utah (reciprocal in 30 states) in one day.

He is the best in the tri-town area if not the entire state.

I ordered a rifle from an out of state dealer, had it transferred here, they were very nice and made the transfer very easy! I would definitely recommend.

I attended the CT pistol permit course with Bobby last week. He's a great instructor, very knowledgeable and helpful with the process, big focus on safety--as it should be. Would certainly use again for further training or purchase needs. I especially liked how he said he is always available to answer any future questions that may come up on the subject/firearms/recommendations, etc. Bobby- thank you for your service. Highly recommend! Bobby and Laurie are great! Very knowledgeable!!! The class with Bobby was great. We took a private class, so we got to spend time one-on-one. He focused on safety, as it should be. I learned a lot and now feel comfortable handling a firearm. I plan on making all my firearm purchases from their store and taking other classes with Bobby! (The staff at the range was very friendly as well!)

I took my CT pistol permit class with Bobby. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, emphasized safety, and I felt comfortable asking any questions I had. He also clearly went over the next steps in obtaining my permit and probably saved me a few weeks in understanding the process. The class was great so I followed up with a few private lessons on being a better and more confident shooter as well as how to properly clean and care for my firearms. He’s really super easy to talk to, down-to-earth, and very helpful. I also use BCF as my FFL and as my first stop for new gear. Laurie and everyone at the store are really nice too.

Great veteran-owned store to buy body armor before CT potentially bans it. Also, convenient Silencer Shop kiosk if you're looking to purchase a suppressor. Would do business with again and will recommend to friends & family!

Did the Utah/CT combo course in one day. Great course. Very helpful and friendly. Answered all my questions (I had many) quickly and patiently. Rob is an excellent classroom and range instructor. He keeps it simple and real. I came out of the one day class feeling safe, aware, informed and trained. Laurie in the office is amazing and answers emails quickly. Overall, I was happy to get my pistol training here.

Stopped in to get information on weapons permits walked in the door laughing at the sign that reads no mean people allowed. Met Matt who is extremely friendly personable and knowledgeable about all aspects of the business. Overall great conversation, and class date confirmation walked out smiling and looking forward to meeting the owners and listening to there knowledge. Overall awesome experience.👍👍

After completing the "CT Pistol Permit Course", I wanted to share my experience with Robert Carr at Blue Cord Firearms. The information in the course was conveyed in a straight forward and easy to follow way. Robert nicely supplemented information with his own experiences and stories which made the longer course more enjoyable. During the live fire portion of the course, Robert was also helpful with regards to suggestions to improve accuracy and stance. I would highly recommend this group for anyone looking to take fire arms related classes.

If I could give Blue Cord Firearms more than 5 stars I would. I had been thinking about getting certified and getting my permit for quite some time so I did a search to see who was the best to hire for this mission. I had seen a fair amount of places that received reviews that illustrated what I didn't want (for example the instructor would yell at you if you were not good at shooting during the practical part of the test). I had not been around firearms for a very long time and to be honest am very apprehensive about handling and firing guns. There were 3 of us in the Saturday class this weekend. We met at Blue Cord's office building for the first part of the class. Bobby was informative and went over everything very well. We took the written test and went over how to handle a handgun. All went fine. Then we met at the indoor shooting range, which I had had anxiety about since signing up for the class. When it was my turn to shoot for the test, anxiety took over. Bobby was super patient with me and helped me with the revolver. He warned me that it had plenty of recoil, which it did, and I was thankful that he was next to me while I shot it. After shooting the revolver I began to cry. I have no idea why I began to cry, but I did and felt ridiculous for doing so. Bobby was incredibly passionate and told me how proud of me he was for being there and following through in spite of my fear. He told me that it was ok to cry and he respected me. Wow, what a difference from what I had read online about the other certification places in the area. Next it was time for me to shoot the semi-automatic. He told me that this gun was going to be easier because of hardly any recoil. He was right and I did better, but was still so grateful that Bobby was right next to me the entire time. I need lots of practice and would like to hire Bobby for private lessons down the road. I am forever grateful to Bobby for his kindness, professionalism, and compassion. Bobby is an instructor that REALLY wants his students to succeed.
Laurie is also incredible. I had spoken on the phone to her a few months before signing up. She is full of great information and super nice. I had also emailed Laurie various questions and I can't believe how fast she got back to me. Also, after completing the class yesterday I received my certificate emailed to me a couple hours later. I am so impressed with how professional and responsive Laurie is.
Seriously, if you are looking for a gun certification class I highly recommend Blue Cord Firearms.

I completed my NRA Basic Pistol course with Blue Cord Firearms over the weekend and I was VERY happy with the experience! It's extremely evident that Robert knows his stuff and he's able to share this knowledge with the class in a manner that is easy to understand and relate to, while also injecting some humor to lighten the mood and make the experience enjoyable and the learning material even more interesting than it already is. One of the participants in the class was very nervous about handling firearms and Robert did an excellent job catering to this individual to help them overcome their hesitation. He's a very personable guy who's passionate about his work and it shows. Plus, you get to support the company of one of the heroes who fought for our freedom! I highly recommend Blue Cord Firearms and all of their courses. Thank you for your service and a great learning experience, Robert!

Not much to say but amazing amazing amazing. I signed up for the nra safety course and the whole process to sign up is extremely easy. Just finished the course today (3-14-19)

Bobby the instructor is a good easy going dude, he knows his stuff and is there every step of the way.

Takes his time to show you the do's and dont's with firearm safety. If you need to go over something more than once he does not mind and actually stresses for you to ask questions if you need clearity.

After the classroom session we went to the range in Bridgeport and everything there went smoothly as well. I plan on doing all my business with bluecord from here on out.

Went there for my CT pistol permit course. It was great! Bobby is super knowledgeable and helpful, I learned a lot in the course. Good option for people in the Newtown area. I will absolutely be returning and doing business there.
