Every visit has always been a positive experience. Staff members are always friendly and helpful if I have questions. Huge selection of miniatures and paints. Definitely going to remain my go to place for D&D and other table top related needs!

Fell in love with this shop! Very welcoming folks there. They sold me on the new Disney Lorcana game and I bought my first cards and accessories! They also have some great books, autographed by local authors that will make terrific Christmas gifts! Well worth a visit!

Truly a one-of-a-kind game store. I practically grew up here, and having been to several other game stores I can tell you that they just don't compare. While many people compliment their wide selection of gaming products (and rightfully so), what makes this place so special is the lengths they go to to provide great hospitality. From allowing customers to sit on the comfortable couches and watch a movie to providing a small kitchenette for customers who may bring their own meals during events. It's these little gestures that contribute to the family atmosphere and overall quality of the store. There is no better gaming atmosphere in my opinion and by shopping here you support a real pillar of the Carbondale community that always is attempting to support charitable causes. There is only one Castle Perilous!

Amazing comic and board game store. They have old games, new games, D&D, miniatures, paint and accessories,
Magic the card game, Pokimon, old and new comics, collectables and more. Staff is super friendly. Been around for a very long time. Has free boardgame library you can play in house or rent for a week. Daily game sessions from MTG, Pokimon, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinfer and more. Did I mention all the dice? So many dice. Buy and sell collectable cards and comics. Fun to browse.

What a nice little gem. I was just passing by and spend about an hour browsing the shop. It’s definitely more of a Gaming Shop however they do have a nice selection of new comics and back issues. One major tip to consider is BROWSE THEIR BACK ISSUES, they are all cover priced, you will find some keys. Also, make sure you look at the comics around the boarder of the ceilings. There are some great early issues of ASM and FF.

As a kid, I would ALWAYS beg my mom to stop by Castle Perilous any time we were in Carbondale. As an adult, I go to Castle Perilous any time I am in Carbondale.

For real, though, I have so many great memories at this place! From coming in with my mom to marvel over all of the Dungeon and Dragons books to coming back as a young adult to play D&D with friends in one of their side-rooms, I will never forget the special place Castle Perilous holds in my heart. The owner, Scott, is an amazing guy, and is one of the reasons I feel I have to blame that I enjoy Table Top RPGs now.

So, basically, I don't REALLY know how to transition into this story in a digestible manner in this review, so it's going to be a bit more of a sudden change. But, my absolute favorite memory regarding Castle P. (and its owner) comes from when I was a kid. My mom and I were both sorta into D&D ('cause we're heckin' nerds) and we (she) ended up dropping WAY too much money on a complete set of 3rd Edition D&D books. While we were finishing our purchase with Scott, I remember looking at the dice and asking my mom for some. Now, I can't exactly remember if she let me get some or not, but I do remember Scott saying something like, "Y'know, it's been a pretty slow day today, and you two are the first big customers I've had all day. As a thanks, I'm gonna throw in these dice as well, which were recently given to us by someone who simply didn't need all of these any more." Scott proceeded to hand us a bag absolutely BURSTING with dice of all types (even one to decide a cardinal direction)! To this day, at least ten years later, I still have these dice, and I hope to keep them for much longer. I can't claim to have all of them, nor have I used them in some time (but hope to do use them again soon). But Scott was an amazingly generous soul for what he did, and I will always be thankful for that.

Been a student at Carbondale for nearly 4 years now. Just went to the shop today for some Green Lantern stuff and couldn't be happier with my visit! This place introduced me to so many comics, heroes, and games, and got me involved with the communities that I didn't know I needed! This was always my comfort place during stressful times in college, and always put a smile on my face when I went for a new comic (I now have a collection lol).

I will be graduating this December, and it wouldn't have been possible without Castle Perilous's comics and fantasy. :)

Nice shop they are reasonable with singles prices and go off market prices. Also they're the only store in town that have my favorite penny sleeves.

Clean, well-lit, with pleasant staff and a great selection of games makes this a wonderful store to visit. The comics selection is also good as is the breadth of their TTRPG games and accessories.

A Carbondale staple, go to for table top and board games. They also have decent selection on sealed and single TCG products. Friendly and inviting local player base generally.

Very impressed with this game shop! First time visiting, but definitely won't be the last! If you need comics, unique/exclusive board games, miniatures for various tabletop games, or the latest Pokemon and Magic the Gathering cards, you're at the right place! Staff was incredibly helpful and cordial. Low foot traffic (Friday afternoon, albeit) but every person was assisted, and the atmosphere was just perfect! They have a game room in the back that seems fantastic for tabletop, card or board game events.
Will be recommending to anyone able to make it up to Carbondale to stop by!And my punch card has some room left to stamp!
