Head to Mama G’s Kitchen for some incredible soul food! Coming from Utah where good soul food restaurants are non-existent, this place is a gem. Not only is it affordable, but the portions are generous. Their homemade potato chips are a standout, and they even taste great the next day. The atmosphere is lively, with live music next door at the bar adding to the fun vibe. Meeting the owner was a delight; she's a vibrant and charming person who clearly takes pride in both the food and service they offer.

I’m originally from Georgia. This food makes me feel like I’m at home. Everything was fresh and hot and taste great the best collard greens I’ve eaten in Missouri. and the catfish was on point thank y’all so much definitely earned a new customer forever….

I have eaten here several times and get something different every time. Everything I've had has been amazing. The fried pork chop and meatloaf are my favorite two main dishes so far. Every one of their sides has been just as good. Their collard greens are the only ones in town I'll eat. Do yourself a favor when you come here and get the cornbread with your meal instead of a Hawaiian roll. When I'm craving hearty home cooking, but i dont want to do it myself, this is where I go.

Mama G and Family is the best place for a good meal in Springfield! I've never tried anything on the menu that isn't an absolute hit and quality made. My favorite is the meatloaf. My husand loves the sampler. I sometimes mix it up with the less common special like the Cajun chicken pasta. It's ALWAYS good! Don't pass on the cornbread. It's sweet and perfect.

Friends told me about MamaGs. There was no sign of it on the outside of the place so I went into the building of the address of Google and found the Kitchen in the back of the BBQ place. I'm so glad we didn't stop because we weren't sure! The food was so delicious, the service, wonderful, friendly and accommodating. We will tell everyone and certainly look forward to visiting again. I hope this lady finds the success she wants and will be able to have her own place! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely amazing food. I’m from the south and this reminds me of food from my grandmothers as well as some of my favorite cafes back home. I cannot praise this food enough. I’m so happy to have finally found a “true” southern style restaurant.

I went just recently with my girlfriend and it was so good. I have their fried chicken wings and they were so juicy some of the best wings I’ve had! Their corn bread was so fluffy moist and delicious! I would recommend this to anyone they have a variety of choices to eat. Customer service is great greet you with a smile and helped me figure out what sides to choose! I will be coming back to mama gs kitchen.

Mama G and her food is absolutely amazing! She made fried chicken wings, roasted pulled turkey Mac and cheese and collard greens for my mom’s memorial today ( December 2nd) at the Where house bar. Her food was delicious and comforting. If you are looking for good food Mama G’s is the spot! She is not only a good cook but a kind hearted person. I highly recommend her for all your catering needs!

This place delivers some of the most beautiful southern comfort food Ive personally ever tasted. Eyes eat first, that being said my mouth was watering at first glance. The smell in the car drive home was enticing, and those porkchops were calling my name.

The exterior of the porkchops was crispy, crunchy, and seasoned exactly how expected. The greens were so delicious with that pork flavor and not too salty.The mac and cheese was so moist and not dry, and the cornbread was so moist and sweet I wouldn't be surprised if it was made there in house. The effort really shows through your food, and I will probably be eating here 4x a week haha.

It warms my heart knowing this place exist where I live. Blew my mind

This takes me back to southern GA soul food! I have the smothered Chichen, collard greens, and spicy cabbage with sweet cornbread! 10/10 on everything!
Warning: If you're not used to eating spicy food, that spicy cabbage is not for you.

This food is incredible, unlike anything I have ever tasted. A friend and I finally paid a visit after Mama G herself got takeout from the business we operate, and she was an absolute angel during a terrible day. I had the fried pork chops, collards, cheesy potatoes, and cornbread. Ya'll let me tell you, this woman can COOK. I was hooked from the first bite, and the food was somehow even BETTER on the second visit. The only reason I don't eat Mama G's more is to avoid weighing 500 pounds. Highly recommend!!!!

This was the best meal I've had in weeks. Hands down the best soul food in Springfield. The meatloaf is to die for, and that spaghetti is its own food group.

October 12th 2023. This was my first time at this place, I went with several other buddies. What can I say about this place? Everything I had was wonderful. I had the sampler platter which had the catfish, which was amazing. Along with the fried shrimp, which was amazing. And all the sides were good. We all kind of sampled each other samples just to make sure what was good and what wasn't, there was nothing bad. It's not what you think probably when you first walk in which is fine, you'll get used to that. I highly suggest this place, with a highly suggest. Yes go try this place. It

I cannot say one negative thing about what I ate It was perfect sooo delicious You need a true homecooked dinner this is the place I had the sampler with the catfish and the pork chops were shockingly not tuff and very flavorful

Meatloaf is the best I've ever had, cornbread is so light and fluffy and cabbage was delicious. Definitely worth the trip

Great food however they can get really slammed when there's an event next door. Take out can take a while. I was very surprised at the chicken wings they were unique and good. The sauce appears to be homemade and was also unique and surprisingly good. Green beans apparently were fresh which is great except there was a sharp stem in mine. Otherwise they were probably some of the best green beans I've ever had.

Absolutely amazing food, sweet people and all around great place. So glad I tried this place; I am going to be thinking about it for a while 😭

I can’t say enough about Mama G’s!! Made with love, fresh ingredients and home made …..absolutely delicious!! We had fried catfish, the best we’d eaten, collard greens, green beans, sweet potatoes and sweet cornbread…we were sad when we got full!

Some of the best soul food we have ever eaten (and we’ve eaten a lot of it)! All of the sides were wonderful and the shrimp and fish were cooked to order. Would 10/10 recommend. Great prices and wonderful service. Also, if you’re like us and are having a hard time finding them, it’s in the very back of the building in the metro sometbing or other behind Where House Bar.
