Kevin and Andrew were absolutely amazing!!! The training is so practical and tailored to the individual, there is no “my way or the highway” mentality. Kevin truly has a gift for training people. I am really looking forward to some more training with Kevin and Blue Ridge Marksmanship. “Do your homework” it makes all the difference!

Great courses! Instructors are knowledgeable, thorough, and SAFE! The training you receive here is top notch! HIGH SPEED, EFFECTIVE, QUALITY! Kevin and his team are by far the best in the southeast if not the whole east coast!

I can not say enough good about this company and the Defensive Pistol Course!! If you have never taken a class from Blue Ridge Marksmanship, I HIGHLY recommend it! I am a novice and this class helped me build comfort and confidence handling a handgun By the end of the class I was shooting with accuracy and confidence. The instructors were prenominal, patient, and have a wealth of knowledge. I look forward to future classes!! Thank you all so much...

Can't recommend BlueRidge more highly. This training checked all the boxes for me; it was safe, smart, personalized, engaging, fun, welcoming. The instructors know their stuff and are there to make you better. I'll be returning for more training.

I signed up for a concealed handgun course and it was sold out. That’s a good sign I thought. The instructor asked if I wanted a refund or do the next class. I signed up for the next class.

This training facility is out in the mountains and we were warned that cell service will not work out there. I thought I better drive at least once to make sure I know where I’m going. Wicked road over the mountain. Drive along a creek. Follow the signs and boom, I’m there. Apple car play worked the way there but not out.

The classroom experience was entertaining (Kevin does not bore you) and informative. Stupid questions (test) try to trick you but don’t overthink it.

Passed that now onto the handgun part.

Kevin gave us excellent instructions and never did I feel uncomfortable next to the line of shooters. There was a very broad range of shooters in this class and all were good shooters. We had 3 women in the group and a bunch of younger bearded men along with me. I think I was the oldest at 53.

Passed the range test and back to the classroom.

We were handed certificates and went over some more basic information. We had questions and answers time and we were on our way. It was an all day class. Better bring a lunch as there is nothing around to run to.

Kevin the data driven monkey (his words and LOL) was excellent and I want to take more of his classes. You will feel like family before you leave.

Do you ever feel like there is more to life? Do you feel like the world is getting worse and crime is on the rise? Do you feel ready to defend your life or another when things get not so pleasant? This is the place for you. I took a class that required some hours in the classroom and my first thought was "Oh, great death by PowerPoint." When I entered the classroom, I noticed there were nice comfortable chairs (not like those horrible metal folding ones) The tables were neatly arranged, facing a projector screen. The room was painted a nice bright color that reminded me of sunshine poking through the clouds after a cool summer thunderstorm. As I picked a chair, I noticed four items were on the table in front of every chair. Some study materials that I could take home and review in case I do not remember everything we covered, a very nice Blue Ridge Marksmanship (BRM) pen, a very cool BRM sticker for my metal water bottle (So people know I go cool places), and a 16 oz bottle of water just for me. I was mesmerized. Wow, that shows how much they care. Kevin’s knowledge and humor in the classroom made the hours fly by. Next, it was range time. The walk to the range was up this gravel road that went by the classroom. It is a bit of an incline, but just a long enough walk to settle your nerves a bit before you get your equipment on. There I found a nice, covered building to place down my bag and organize my gear while Kevin went over safety procedures for the firing range. He had a presence about him that demanded your attention and made me feel much safer (Like a parent or grandparent holding you when you were younger making you feel like everything was going to be ok). Finally, we get on the range and Kevin starts talking about what to aim for on the target and explaining all this medical stuff about where to shoot and why that is best. I can’t remember all of what he said, basically the plumbing and electrical in the human body. (I can google it later) I was blown away by the medical knowledge he displayed. Finally, we got to start shooting. I had never really carried concealed before especially with an appendix carry holster. It turns out my belly was casting a bit of shade over my pistol making it hard to draw from the concealed. I guess that is what Kevin was talking about when he said know your equipment and check it before you go out. He kindly came by and suggested a different set up which was more comfortable. I was a weaker firer, so they put me with an instructor named Andy. Andy was a calm and knowledgeable gentleman that instantly made my nerves calm. When he talked about a firearm it was like Shakespeare reciting poetry. It was like having a friend coaching you along and celebrating the small victories with you. I truly think this is one of the best places in the country to receive training. I know I have a lot to learn, and I intend on learning it at BRM.

The class and Instructors at BRM are completely awesome! Jim broke the training material down and provided real life scenarios for understanding your roles and responsibilities that accompany CCPs. Thank you for the time you spend with your students and the care put into ensuring your class is thoroughly trained! I can't wait to take another class or 2 provided by BRM!

My wife and I took the Couples course and we had a great experience! We individually learned a lot from the instructors, despite our different skill levels. The instructors have great insight and this short weekend has changed my wife's and I's perspective and capability to work together in a tactical environment. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to gain a better understanding of how to communicate and work as a team. Kevin provides a thorough and knowledgeable perspective on communication and teamwork while addressing different skill levels and strengths. Looking forward to the next course with Kevin and his team! You won't regret booking!

I do have a few experiences I can compare this class to. If you attend one of Blue Ridge Marksmanship's classes, you won't be disappointed. Keven's extensive knowledge of all things firearms is exceptional. He makes a tough subject comprehensible and enjoyable!
The approach Kevin and the team use to train uses positive feedback, encouragement, and coaching over criticism, helping the student achieve rapid success. Success with practice = competence!
Shout out to Crystal for sharing her expertise during the practice.
I'll be back.

Class was great. I had no formal firearms training until I took the CCH course and learned a lot. Take their classes while Kevin is still in charge!!! He’s hilarious and has lots of important knowledge.

I’ve taken a number of instructional courses and have intermediate experience with handgun shooting. My experience with Blue Ridge Marksmanship was that it provides the highest quality of instruction with teachers who are better and more experienced that an average training company. Kevin taught our group of four with a lot of enthusiasm, energy and professionalism. He met each of us at the level of our experience and gave each of us valuable training that enabled us to improve our shooting skills and knowledge. Highly recommend!

Loved the class I attended here, very professional and as a queer Appalachian I felt comfortable and welcome here. Randy taught my CHP class and I've done one before in south Carolina that was an absolute sh!tsh0w in comparison to this. They were very thorough about literally everything and it was honestly a great deal money wise to attend this class. I was quite literally instantly better and more comfortable handling my pistol even though I've been carrying and shooting for over a decade I learned so much! Highly recommend, I will be back for one of their other classes as they have so many different ones!

My experience at Blue Ridge Marksmanship was fantastic. Having only used a gun once in my life before, I left with the confidence and love of shooting to purchase my own. Kevin is an excellent instructor, and a very down to earth human. I never felt intimidated and was comfortable despite my inexperience. I am planning on taking my children for classes as well as taking more myself.

If you own a firearm to protect your family, you NEED to take a course on how to use and manipulate the firearm, through proven exercises to test yourself and your firearms capabilities. You don't want to find out when its to late. This Group has over 30 years of real world experience in weapons training, operating, and teaching military personnel , LEO, and civilian students. They have seen and tested a good amount of equipment. While in training if they see a technique which is not as efficient they will explain to you why and give you a better option. These Course's are very informative and presented with professionalism, with 2 way communication, and in a safe fun environment. I just finished my second course and look forward to "Getting More of My Kevin On!" Thanks BRM!!!!

I have taken two courses here. All instructors have been fantastic. It felt like months of knowledge packed into a single training day. Can't recommend them enough.

As a person who owns a firearm but has not done much but look at it and fire it occasionally at a range, this class was perfect. I became much more familiar with the pistol, enjoyed the outdoor range and all questions are welcomed. I'll definitely be taking more classes at Blue Ridge Marksmanship!
