Food For the Soul

I used to go here all the time when I was a student in RI. Came back for a weekend visit and had to stop and get some good food! It did not disappoint!! I will be back soon for another plate! Thank you guys for being a home away from home while I was a student!

I can be really picky with food . And I am A BIG FOODIE! But don't let the outside fool you. These people are working with some serious flavors that I highly recommend. My big complaint is that I didn't buy more 😭 lol

Excellent , Down home cooking southern style ! Parking can be tricky but it is sooo worth it. More like cafeteria style but it is soo good and low price.

The food has been consistently amazing each and every time I’ve dined here! The owner is wonderful and such a joy to be around! My family and I love dining here because we always get to laugh and eat too much!

Good old fashioned (in my view) "soul" food. I ordered the baked chicken leg & thighs with sweet potato (yams), collard greens & corn bread. Although heavy they were delicious. At one time I was able to try the Mac & cheese & it was delicious 😋. The ribs are great as well. This is really good comfort food. No parking. On a very busy street.

Love the food here! Craved this place every day when i was pregnant and not pregnant. I have been going to eat there for almost 8 years. Do not have not 1 negative thing to say about this restaurant. Very small restaurant for a quick bite in or for take out. Small parking lot but there is parking. The customer service is amazing, the man that owns the place is a sweetheart and really cares about his customers.The food is always fresh and cooked by only him! Great portions served, can feed 2 with one plate. Well worth your money. The pricing is $ not expensive. The food options are all delicious it's hard to choose. It's all southern cooking (sweet potatoes/yams , mashed potatoes, ribs, fried chicken, corn bread, greens, Mac & Cheese) and more. Would definitely recommend this place to EVERYONE.

I will always give this place 5 stars because the food is always good. The Grubhub experience however has not been so great. I ordered yams 2 times now and got collard greens. (I’m not complaining because they are still good) but when your really craving something it’s a bummer to not get it. I let it go the first time and I couldn’t let it go this time. Definitely recommend going there or calling in your order. The owner is awesome and he plays the best songs! Such a good vibe when you walk in!

This place used to be the best around but now he's hardly ever open and when you get your dinners they're $14 now and you're getting less food so unfortunately the soul food place that we loved we cannot visit anymore due to the prices and the fact that we go and he's never open we'll plan to go there for dinner and it's cold and then one day a week he might be open out of nowhere

Food was great. Wonderful home cooked soul food and the price are reasonable as well. Felt like I was sitting at the table of my families house and not a restaurant. Very home like feeling.

My experience at Food for Soul was great! They had the side dishes my mom and I wanted. Their food is very filling and delicious. The young man was very polite and shared the history of Providence, RI. I would go back again if I am ever in town.

Great service, very friendly. The baked chicken is on point, had with mashed and mac, both were perfect. Cornbread was fluffy and sweet, great with the ribs which fell apart and had good flavor. Free cupcake with dinner order was moist and tasty. Home-style soulfood at it's best.

Staff were incredibly nice, gave us a free sample of apple cake that was TO DIE FOR! The food is exactly what southern comfort food should be: delicious and made with love and passion. Will definitely be back!

Love the fried fish 7.00 plate. This is the only soul food spot in Rhode Island and I love it. It's very affordable and the service is fast and friendly. I recommend it to anyone that loves southern food this is the spot to go to! It's addicting and mouth watering 👍🏾

This place is great. To the lady who said it was prison food, you must only use salt and pepper as seasoning because this food is great! The pulled pork is juicy and all the fixings are great! A real North End Classic

I’ve been coming here ever since I was a kid and we love the food and the workers are so polite and nice and this will FOREVER BE MY FAVORITE PLACE TO GET BURGERS AND FRIES and I hope this place never closes down god bless them. And there food be very good.

I love home cooking but some nights you just don’t have time. This little hidden gem provides that. Soooooo much food for your money too!! I have been ordering from them for about a year and have told anyone that will listen to check them out. The food is amazing and the service!!!! I don’t even have to order my food they know as soon as they hear that address lol. Oh yeah.... did I mention they deliver!!! Love this place!!!

Great food, great prices and a couple of really nice guys behind the counter. It's a no frills place, but they make fantastic soul food and the restaurant seems well-managed. A great place to stop in for some quick and affordable take-out after work. Highly recommended!

I am from South Carolina and have been deeply homesick since I'm in Rhode Island for two months for a summer program. There's no sweet tea here, nor soul food until I came to this blessing. Had me feeling like I was back down in the South with the music, foood and SWEET TEA!!!! Plus, the employees and the owner make you feel right at home. If I get the chance to come back to Rhode Island again, this is my first stop! Love, love love it!

This place was amazing! Having just moved to Providence from Huntsville, AL the wife was excited to be able to get greens close by, and she was NOT disappointed! Will definitely be back!
