It was clean and the people were friendly but you didn’t see them much. They do not take credit card or debit but you can pay with a QR code that takes you to their online shop. So if you don’t feel confident In doing that bring cash. It took us 30 minutes from ordering to get food so be surprised by that. The food is good and seeing them put food out for the animals is fun.

When they say best kept secret, this hole in the wall gem is really one of Omaha's best secret. You WILL NOT go wrong here. It is a small dive dinner that really lives up to "we known for...". The fried chicken is outstanding and the dinner is at a really great price and it will feed two smaller kids. The wait staff is fun and friendly. This is a wonderful stop for family, kids, out of town guest alike. You will come for the chicken and stay for the wildlife!!!

Lunch time January 2, 2024. Cash or local check only…ATM on site. Important to know in this day and age of credit and debit.

The hubs is not a fried chicken eater, but he devoured his winner winner chicken dinner!
It was not salty and hot out of the fryer! The macaroni salad was delicious, but I would have liked a tad more. Coleslaw was good and creamy!

What would have made our visit any better would have been some homemade banana pudding!

I am from another state and have been bragging about eating here. I have NEVER had fried chicken get better than this! It is unreal how good this food is.

The staff is personable. "Real salt of the Earth" folks.

Atmosphere is unlike anywhere else! A real old school feel that the locals would go to. But, welcoming to all. I marvel about the Dinner and a Show you get with the woodland critters. Shout out

I argue that this is a "Must See" to anyone visiting Omaha!

10 out of 10

Amazing bar in the middle of the woods that seems to be a sanctuary for generations of raccoons. Last I saw, they added a couple new creatures to the team. Stray cat and little fox roam around there for the leftover chicken wings as well. Great food and atmosphere.

Had this place for the first time. I’m trying to find the best fried chicken in Omaha. I got the 5 wing dinner. I’d describe the chicken as Chinese food chicken. It’s fried hard and in my opinion , not much flavor. Good service though ! Just not the best friend chicken I’ve ever had .

Didn't get to see any raccoons, but saw a little black kitten who made my day! 🐈‍⬛ The fried chicken was surprisingly delicious; flavorful and perfectly crispy! The original owners' grandson came by to talk to us right before we left. Every table was occupied, but the service remained uninterrupted. I hope to be back (to catch the raccoons). 🦝

The atmosphere for what it was, was good. It's not a fancy place, you're here to watch the wildernesses. The front of the house is the bar, but you want to go to the back to the large window to see the animals

Pro tip
Apparently the raccoons are nocturnal so going in the day you won't see much unless it's around when they have their babies. So if that is important, time your trip accordingly.

Out of the food we ordered the chicken dinner. Was my 5 star item. The chicken wings were good too.
Definitely get the potato wedges.
I preferred them over the onion rings.
I'd skip the shrimp unless you really don't want chicken.

Parking is available on the side of the building on the street you are coming down. It looks like they have additional parking on a side street going into the building. It kinda loops.

The Alpine Inn… where the wait staff throw chicken bones out to feed the raccoons. Basically it’s morbidly obese people eating fried chicken watching morbidly obese raccoons eating fried chicken. I think it’s the happiest place on earth. Would be great for a destination wedding. I love this place.

Restaurant and bar on same location for many years! Chicken is always good, hot and fresh. Understaffed, so patience is needed. CASH only these days!
BTW, Santa had dinner there also, lol

The food is great and the staff friendly. We stopped by for a quick dinner in mid-October and sat outside. Luckily, it wasn’t too cold because the indoor area was almost completely packed. Didn’t see any raccoons but it was still early - just before the sun went down. The massive potato wedges are absolutely legendary, highly recommend! The only drawback is that there are no vegetarian options other than the sides (coleslaw is fantastic) and that they only accept cash, but there is an ATM inside the restaurant.

What a fun and unique experience! I cannot say enough good things - the raccoons are fantastic (and kitties). The staff is amazing. Food is excellent. The whole vibe was comfy and beyond neat. Cannot wait to go back!

Been wanting Fried Livers for over a year and finally found them here. They were really good, and would be even better with country gravy.

It was awesome being so close to that many racoons! I had 9 pet racoons over the years as a child from my grandpa and dad being tree trimmers and cutting down trees with babies in them so fed them with eye droppers then tiny bottles.

Best chicken in town. Takeout is always amazing too. They don’t mess up orders. And watching the cats and raccoons eat the leftovers is a great time.

A little slice of chicken in the middle of nature. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll get a front row seat to the raccoon wildlife. You can watch them, not feed them.

On our visit, we finally saw one as we were leaving, so they might not always be available to view.

Best chicken around. Excellent service.

Not a lot of room to park or seating available, however, if you have to wait, well worth it.

Note: Hole in the wall type of bar. It’s not new or sparkling clean, so if you don’t like outdated places to eat, this is not your place.

Price: affordable

Cash only!

Highly recommend to all!!

I loved the fried chicken! It is the best fried chicken in town! They have a bar and room inside and a patio in the back.
We will be back😀

I had been here about 20 years ago and had kind of forgotten about it. My wife was out of town, and I was looking for an entertaining reasonably priced place to take my 16 year old daughter and 12 year old son. I saw a news story about it and thought, why not. It did not disappoint. The food was good, the prices were good, the staff was good (even though they looked under staffed, they were very efficient), but most of all we got a window table and the critters were active. My kids loved it!!! They are already asking when can we go back. It is definitely a hidden treasure that I would recommend.
