Carla's restaurant has the absolute best white fish we've ever had! A cozy family friendly atmosphere and amazing views of lake superior await you for this low key yet delicious dining experience. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

My family and I have had such a great time here. Carla's Motel isn't like the Lakeside Inn, but we were glad to have had our stay here at Carla's. The staff is so friendly and courteous to our family. We have so many great experiences here at Carla's. The restaurant is worth waiting until Tuesday to eat at. It's not fancy, but it sure felt like home. My husband and I kept referring to our room to our kids, "When we get home..." I can't express enough what this place has done for our family. Thank you for such a great experience here in Michigan in your motel.

I was really impressed with the restaurant!

We got there on a Saturday night 30 minutes before closing. They were wonderful about staying open and fixing up a wonderful dinner. We had their Steak and Lake dinner: delicious sirloin steak - about 8 oz - tender and tasted like it was finished over a charcoal grill and about 6 oz of fresh lake trout - steamed. The waitress recommended the trout over the whitefish, perch or cod the night we were there. Oh she gave us a GOOD recommendation.

In addition to the steak and fish, our plate has tasty green beans and a mound of sweet potato fries - everything was done beautifully. We also got the salad bar (excellent beef soup) and a nice fresh salad with fixings.

We didnt stay at the motel, but we sure enjoyed the restaurant.

I understand they are cutting back on hours now that the tourist season is over so I'd recommend calling before you go. But GO you must for a first rate mean in a nicely decorated cafe with a great view of Lake Superior!

My husband and I stopped here for dinner and I can't say enough how amazing this place is. We ordered the white fish and it was mouthwatering delicious 😋 The salad was great and service top notch. The location is beautiful and breathtaking.. overlooks the bay and it's makes for an unforgettable experience. Definitely will return!

This motel is pretty impressive for a small, "ma and pop" motel. It has a very cute outside appearance and the inside is surprisingly clean. Although it could use some updating, I know that it's part if the experience. Service is very nice, Carla checked in on us when we arrived and before we left to make sure we were good, she was very nice and welcoming. We also had a couple noisy neighbors who were disturbing and had some drama of their own going on, but within 30 minutes, Carla had sorted it all out, we greatly appreciate it. All in all, this is a very nice place to stay, wheather it's 2 nights or 7, it stands true to it's name. Thank you!

Beautiful getaway spot in the UP. Carla is an amazing host that is friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a posh place with every amenity, this is not the place. However, if you're looking for a place with character and amazing views, this IS the spot. She has plenty of amenities. Beds and rooms were very clean.
Food is on point and the service at the restaurant was great. Make sure to check out the back section of the restaurant by the salad bar. Not at many people in that section compared to the front.
The time I went, both the views and the weather was perfect at Carla's. Not as much wildfire smoke compared to other locations that were north and many locations west of Carla's. Get the AC, it's very humid up there I highly recommend Carla's for an enjoyable and beautiful experience.

Just spent two nights here over the weekend. It is such a cozy and relaxing motel with an amazing view of the lake. The staff was friendly.
Let’s not forgot the food at Carla’s was delicious.

No complaints it was a stopover hotel for $75 a day a million dollar view over Cuban rambe it was the beds were wonderful it was clean I no complaints dog friendly

Fantastic service and the food was delicious. We all ordered burgers and fries. The burgers were fresh beef on fresh bakery buns with fresh lettuce and tomato. So good! They also have real cut french fries! The restaurant has large windows facing the water for a gorgeous view during sunset. They have a patio that also faces the water which I imagine is awesome when the weather is warmer.

Great place to rest. Clean rooms, comfy bed and they allow pets for a small fee. Our dog jed loved it. Carla and Doug's team of staff were very kind and helpful.

Holy moly. The views from this little motel, especially at sunrise... phenomenal!!! The property is so cute and cozy.

Plus the woman herself... Carla... is a gem! My wife and I met her when we ate at the restaurant, she was our server, and she is so sweet. Plus her butterfinger ice cream pie is AMAZING. Wish I had ordered a slice to go. Sigh. Next time.

Don't pass up this cute motel if you're in the area. Six star experience. Would love to come back.

We spent two nights here. The room prices are phenomenal. It is very basic, nothing fancy, but clean and the people are wonderful! We had dinner in the restaurant once - it was very good. Old fashioned roast beef, with real redskin mashed potatoes, the roast and gravy were very good. Salad bar is not huge but very good and fresh.
Would definitely stay and/or eat here again!!

We’ve stayed here a few times and think it’s fun! Rather outdated but that adds to the charm. Very clean. Love Carla! She remembered who we were when we called back. *LOVE* Also, WAY better than a hotel! Who doesn’t love backing right up to your door to unload??? The lake view is unmatched! Even has an outer deck to relax on overlooking the lake. Ahhhhh...

Clean rooms, some are oddly laid out, but no big deal. The prices are way cheaper than cities north or south, call them, the price I got was way less than advertised here through the booking companies. The restaurant/office was closed on Labor Day, but they were more than happy to take my call and get me checked in.

The food is also very good with reasonable prices. They have fresh trout and whitefish daily.

The food is real home cooked style food. Carla, who has been running the establishment for 40 years, is amazing. She makes sure she takes great care of all of her customers. Being there is like having dinner at a friend’s home. Outstanding views of Lake Superior, cozy atmosphere, clean, great food, friendly service and reasonable prices.

The first few minutes we were there Carla treated us like family. She brought us snacks for morning, towels to wipe out motorcycles, told us of things to do in area. It was a beautiful view of lake. Best seafood and ribs I've had, plus the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Carla brought us snacks for the morning, and the lake view is incredible. I will stay here every time I need a hotel near Houghton.

What a delightful place. Carla is amazing! Rooms are small but very clean and comfy. The view is amazing too! Restaurant was closed because it was Sunday but has a great menu and vibe when we checked in.

If you’re looking for plush pillows and memory foam then you’ll need to keep looking. But what you will find here is an absolutely charming little motel tucked away on on the bay. The rooms are on the small side, but this just adds to the cozy feel. Carla is an absolute darling and makes you feel right at home as soon as you arrive. I highly recommend stopping in for a night or two as you travel the UP
