The Mexican at Central Gastro

The chorizo queso and homemade chips are the best that I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant! There's not even a close comparison to any restaurant that I can think of! Definitely order this when you come here!

Went with my family and we had a wonderful time! Staff was so kind and helpful and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend!

Love this spot. Such good fajitas. Cheese dip is wildly expensive. But the chips are worth the $5.

My husband has fallen in love with this place, so against my better judgment, we came for dinner on a Friday. Even though they were super busy, the staff didn’t skip a beat. We had multiple people check on us throughout the meal. The food and drinks were just as good as they were during our late lunch the last time we were here. We will definitely be back!

I absolutely love this place. I love the friendly employee's...the atmosphere....& definitely the food!! ( steak street tacos😁) My mom, husband, & I had went here yesterday and our waitress Gia did an outstanding job...she was super super sweet and very polite. She came and checked on us and made sure we were okie dokie with everything...I would put her as employee of the month. Thanks u guys

Service can feel a bit slow, but the food is incredible. The chips are made in house, the salsa is fire roasted, everything is delicious!! Kids meals are pretty cheap, too!

I recently came here with my husband and i have not tasted Mexican food like this in awhile! Reminds me of when I visited Mexico. 100% authentic and delicious!! Our waitress was the sweetest and very patient with us and their agua frescas were so good! the cucumber lime and mango is a must try! My husband had the carne asada and the cactus leaf was so exotic and tasty. Definitely will be back for more and to try the rest of their menu!!

p.s the chips are worth every penny!!

Easily some of the best Mexican food I've had outside of a homemade meal. The flavors are authentic, and the meat is juicy and spiced to perfection. I had the quesabirrias tacos, and they were so good they literally could not stay on my plate.
The atmosphere is amazing. Outside seating is accompanied by a stage, a cozy garden-aesthetic, and some wooden tables and chairs. There are string lights and greenery everywhere. Truly another world.
Highly recommend a visit if you're craving Abuela's mexican food.

Listen! Hands down - this is the BEST authentic Mexican cuisine you will find in the Upstate, let alone Central! No shade towards all the other [great] Mexican restaurants in the area, but The Mexican is the new standard.

We were blown away by the authenticity of their dishes. From the flavor, to the portions and the plating, The Mexican just earned another loyal customer. It’s a MUST try for any fan of Mexican cuisine.

It also goes without saying that the staff is friendly and very approachable.

PS: The tortilla chips (pictured first) are the real deal! Please don’t come expecting flimsy and brittle tortilla chips😉

Stopped in for a Torta! Boy was it a good decision!!! This place is a place is a must stop in Central!!! If you can get over paying for chips and salsa this place is amazing. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff and great food choices!

Love this place! Fresh, homemade, and quality ingredients especially compared to other Mexican restaurants. I have no issues with paying for chips and salsa, as they are higher quality. I am especially impressed with their enchiladas and beans- you can tell it's not your standard processed enchiladas you get from other restaurants. Been twice in two weeks and plan to keep coming.

You can tell there is a lot of pride put into the recipes and everything tasted fresh and was so flavorful! The inside has a cute shop with a popsicle freezer , drinks, and cute bags and keychains. We met one of the owners (a pair of sisters) who had just made the infused coffee (so delicious and not too sweet). I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. What a great place! Excellent food. Definitely get the guacamole and quesabirrias! Service wonderful and personal. Orders sent to the kitchen via tablet as you order, pay at table with hand held. Beautiful outdoor seating areas, firepit, and bandstand. Do not skip this new gem in Central, SC.

My husband and I came here for the first time. We live out of town and were blown away by the outstanding service. Every staff member was super friendly and attentive. The food was awesome. The GUAC and the CHIPS were just *chef’s kiss*. Esquite = YUM. AND THE CHORIZO WAS EVERYTHING!!!!

My standard at Mexican restaurants is the nachos-I think they’re a good measure of a lot of the staples. And y’all, they put they cheese on the bottom layer of the nachos as well as the top so that every chip had cheese on it….and so I gotta give ‘em 5 stars.

It was a pleasant experience ☺ the patio is really beautiful 😍 the food was really good 🤤😋 the service was good too .. I had dinner at the last minute and the girls started dancing after finishing up 😻

Hands down the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in the region. I’ve had many delicious spots but none quite compare to the deliciousness that is The Mexican. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. You will not be disappointed. This picture doesn’t look great but that’s only because I demolished this food.

Went for opening night and sat outside in the courtyard. Ms. Damaris Gomez was the host who brought a printed paper menu with a limited tradition Mexican gourmet selection of dishes. She explained that she served what she would serve if we came to dinner at her house - IT WAS outstanding! I was so happy and have been inspired to learn more about traditional Mexican cooking. I can't wait to go back again!

We had the best experience with the team at The Mexican. They went above and beyond to make our bridal shower a huge success! And the food was absolutely delicious!

The food here is fresh, and the service is great. I have had the same sweet waitress the past few times, and I am thankful. She takes the time to explain the menu and ingredients and makes recommendations when asked. The mole was awesome, and they have a great reasonably priced lunch menu. The outdoor dining area is cozy yet offers live music on weekends and special occasions. This is a must try place in Central.
