Having been fly fishing 15 years on smaller streams here in MI, I thought it was time to head to CO to test my skills on some big water. I came across Sopris Outfitters online so gave Chris a call and set up 2 days of drifting on the Fork the first week of May. Not only will "Kish" give you pointers on improving your technique, but the knowledge he has about where the fish are, what and how the fish are eating, what bugs to look for, the river and when to fish, is second to none. Super, hard-working, fun, guide who respects the river and the fish and wild life. When Kish says "you're gonna get a fish here", you better believe you're gonna get a fish there. He flat out knows his stuff. Also highly recommend the Ham & Cheese sub he gets from his local sub shop, btw. I'll be fishing with Kish again.

I fished with Chris Kish 3 days on 2 separate occasions...once with my best friend who wasn't very experienced and once with my son who is. We fished the Fork and the Colorado; 2 very different types of water and we caught the end of the Drake season on the Fork and was able to fish dries the entire day which was definitely a huge treat. I have been a fly fisherman since 1987 and have had more guides than one can count. I have fished the stretch of the Colorado between Glenwood Springs and Silt more than once but this was my first first experience with Chris. Other guides will fish what is typical for big fast river fishing...tight to the bank, slicks, those typical places where the trout should and do live. But not the big ones! We caught more than we could count and more got away than we could count as well. We were exhausted at the end of the 3 days. He works hard; he knows where his fish are; and if he doesn't think a particular pool has been productive enough, he'll row back up and we'll do it all over again! In other words, he gives you a full days worth of work. He has a great style that works well with the experienced as well as those who need to be coached. I thank Chris for working with me on my "pause". And most importantly, he wants to catch fish and wants to make his customers happy. His boat is comfortable and clean. And the only room for improvement if there is any are his lunches...I didn't like the curry chicken wrap (but that's just me). This guy is a star! We will fish together again.

Great fly fishing experience for both experienced adults as well as younger anglers ages 9-11. Caught lots of fish!
