Great first time experience! Stopped by on a Saturday morning for a quick lunch before a shopping date. Order the brisket sandwich with fries, a small cheeseburger with corn pudding, and a cup of chili. All the food was fresh and extremely flavorful. I particularly loved the brisket as it was so tender and juicy. They have so many barbecue sauces to choose from and they're all simply delicious! The chili was also made with the brisket, and had a slightly smoky flavor that really complimented the dish. The staff was extremely helpful and very quick delivering the food. The restaurant was also very clean and had plenty of seating, though it quickly started getting busy at around noon, but they do have outdoor seating available as well. I'll certainly be returning because I want to try out so many more items in their menu. Highly recommend!

Had the fish and chips. The fish as excellent and the breading tasty. It came with ordinary fries and decent coke slaw. It was a bit expensive at $19 but with plenty of parking, it’s an easy stop. Eat in or take out.

This place is a great find! If you want to grab a local wine or beer to take home or a sweet treat, they have plenty. And the food is fantastic! I tried the tomato soup which was perfect for the foggy day. Their sandwiches look amazing! This isn’t fast food. They’re really cooking so grab a drink and have a seat. I will always stop here on my way through Leesburg :)

Wow. My girlfriend and I came here from Maryland during our trip to the river and we were beyond satisfied. First, we looked around the shop. They had a wide selection of wines and beers, flavorful hot sauces, soaps, candles, and more. They even sell peoples paintings there! After shopping, we ordered a brisket sandwich and the Roots Cheeseburger and took a seat at one of the tables, all of which were clean. The brisket was delicious, not dry and not too smoky! The burger was also a hit. The egg and burger was cooked to perfection, and the bacon wasn’t too greasy. Their pickles are also very nice and tangy! My favorite food though was the french fries!! Every single fry was nice and crispy and at the perfect temperature! Definitely going to think of this place every time I come to Virginia!

My favorite local spot! I tried every single dishes here and it is all AMAZING! Even sauces are excellent! My favorite was brisket and roots burger! Well.. All ingredients are so fresh and cooked properly! Juicy and fresh! And on the top of all good food, staff are amazing too! Ms. Muriel is so sweet and kind! She helped us for a catering last year and I will definitely order from them this year again!
Also, they have a serving robot! 😍 it was so cute and cool! I will bring my kids soon! :-)

Great food and a selection of good beers. It was nice to see the local products opposite the eating area as well.

Ok... $20 for a sandwich is a bit steep but we really do love the food. The turkey sandwhich is cooked turkey breast not processed deli meat. The food is very fresh and delicious. The crab soup tastes homemade. It's a lovely stop. And you can pick up some local small batch wine, cider or mead to take home!

Everything on the menu sounded fantastic, but for my first visit here, I just had to go for the signature brisket sandwich. The meat was smoked to perfection, the marinated slaw on top was delicious, and the jalapeño-cheddar roll held it all together perfectly. Eating outdoors was also a treat with beautiful views and plenty of table space. The market side of the store is filled with all kinds of great local items from coffee to salsa and more. I'll definitely be coming back here soon!

Wow what a great place. The food was packed with great flavor. The atmosphere was barn/county style. The mini store was a nice touch. The kids love the Mac n cheese, pizza and the wife enjoyed her chicken salad. The burgers were amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The smoked meats are simply outstanding. The staff members and management are super nice and welcoming. Such a fantastic place to stop after a day exploring the river and parks to the west.

Fantastic food, beer and atmosphere. The smoked brisket was fabulous!! Very tender and extremely tasty. I had a local IPA that was very hoppy and juicy. My wife had a cheeseburger with all the toppings. Loved the marinated cole slaw too. The staff was extremely helpful and super polite. Lots of local wine, beer and work displayed by local artist. I will definitely be eating here again and couldn't recommend more highly to anyone visiting the Luckets area.

Delicious food and great market options!
The sandwiches were fresh and flavorful and all of the goods we got in the market (like some local cheddar cheese w/ seafood seasoning in & organic wine) we're just as good. We'll be back for sure!

We came to Roots 657 Cafe after a hike at nearby Sugarloaf Mountain before heading to Vanish brewery which is just down the street.
We read Vanish wasn't serving food on the weekdays and that Roots had locally made BBQ, therefore our decision to visit wasn't hard.

What we found out was this country store off route 15 packs a big punch! There were lots of locally made goods, including a large wine section with additional coolers for wine, beer, cider and even mead. But we quickly made our way to the restaurant menu with a goal for BBQ. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and my gf got the brisket, they included a side and water for $13 (pork) and $15 (brisket) respectively.

There is limited seating inside so we made our way to the outside patio. It's quite large but because we were the only patrons at the time we picked a table almost out in the back field. Remember to grab your (mild, spicy or vinegar based sauce) to go before you leave. We sat enjoying generous portions of meat on warm toasty jalapeno-cheddar buns and while they did forget our slaw the creamy mac & cheese with a double portion of fries definitely made up for it. The meat had a great smoke flavor without overpowering and you add your own sauce for just the right amount of zing.

Finishing up our meal we got a great surprise as we witnessed an albino peacock at the neighboring farm to say goodbye. So if you have a BBQ craving, need a quality meal or just want to buy some locally made goods make sure Roots 657 Cafe is on your list.

20220529 came by here for lunch. The pulled pork and chicken were good. Corn pudding was OK, and crab and corn soup was soooo salty. The cashier wasn't friendly. At checkout, im.not sure why they changed the %tip to dollar tip. I spent $41 and tipping option was $1, $2 and $4. Who gives a $1 or $2 tip for a $41 meal? I ended up tipping in cash. I prefer the tip by %... 10%, 15%, 17%, 20%. I usually do 20% even at carryout, especially during this exaggerated pandemic that ruined so many lives and small business.

I am really happy that I decided to stop by this market/restaurant. I love all the unique merchandise including jelly, jam, salsa, coffee, pasta, ice cream, beer, draft beer, wine, gifts, snacks... Most, and f not all, are local. I picked up some items, and the mustard, The Pig Cave Black Mustard, is so good... a little spicy and has white wine in the ingredient. The restaurant food is amazing! The brisket sandwich came in these delicious jalapeno buns. The corn pudding was so yummy! The crab soup had so much chunky veggies in it that it looked and tasted healthy. I will definitely come back next time I am in the area.

A must stop restaurant/mini store!! They are perfectly located along rt. 15 North just outside of Leesburg. They have a selection of local meat, eggs, honey etc. to choose from, the prices are higher than a grocery store but it's minimal when you consider the benefits you gain from knowing that your food was grown organically right around the corner. They also have a small restaurant that offers gourmet eats!

I came here because my son's family has fallen in love with the place. It's a 45 minute ride for them and when I came down from CT he really pushed to get here. And I'm glad he did. I had the brisket sandwich with French fries and turkey chili. The brisket was top notch with very little fat. And plenty of it. The fries were great and the turkey chili very flavorful. I highly recommend stopping in here. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.3.

Update to my review. Today we tried the burgers. They did not disappoint either.
Consistently quality food, made fresh to order. Great job R657!

Food was fantastic. Service was very fast and courteous. The brisket was "out of this world" good. Also great selection of tap beer. Finally the Rhum cake for dessert was also very yummy. Good job Roots!

I’ve been eating at this place for a while... and it’s one of the best options of the new options in the area. This area of Loudoun County is rural, but changing so we have city prices for a fancy experience with a country aesthetic. It’s clean, kitschy, has a wide assortment of things to color your experience. I personally like bottled root beer, but we also had to buy some locally produced milk for our baby.

You won’t be disappointed with the food, but remember the area is in transition to something different. I suspect the owner is a fancy chef, but I’m not sure; it feels like that kind of experience.

You aren’t here for a formal dining experience, it’s an experience itself on the way to the rest of your day or at the end of your day.

I don’t know what the orange jug of lemonade is, but I intend to find out next time.

Great outdoor seating, my kids loved running around.
