Monarca Cantina - Monroe, New York

Looooved this place. I’m typing this review before we even left. The margaritas were huge, food was delicious, service was very friendly. They make fresh guac by your table. Definitely visit if you’re in town!!

What an fantastic experience!
We stumbled upon this restaurant during our drive to upstate NY.
There are 2 things about this restaurant which are an major attraction:
1. The patron flight - which offered four flavors: original, tamarind, mango & strawberry.
2. The salsa bar! - up to 7-9 types of salsas & sauces for you to pick out & try

The staff was so lovely. Outdoor & indoor seating available. We ordered nachos for the table & that too was delicious.

If we are ever in this area again- we will be back for you Monarca!

Beautiful place.. the food was amazing and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The views of the lake are amazing 🤩. The fresh Guacamole 🥑 is great.

Great Mexican restaurant with a beautiful view.
Lots of parking spots, big Dinning room and bar area. Eduardo was very helpful and very professional.
Big big portions so be prepared for that 😀😀😀.
I love theirs salsa bar and especially the bar area.

I really enjoyed this place! The staff was super friendly and helpful, quick taking our orders. The location is beautiful, right in front of a lake, with mexican decorations, tasty food and drinks!

I've had delicious Mexican before and Monarca is the best Mexican I've had to date, my wife agrees and the 10 person party that we were with, everyone loved their meals. The chips and salsa were fantastic and it was some of the best guac I've ever had, besides being in Mexico itself. My wife loved her salad, and my burrito was fantastic and GIANT. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the setting itself inside is very nice. Highly recommend! Enjoy!!!

We absolutely love this place. Need to say it is the premiere Mexicn food place this side of the City, and East of the Midwest.

This place actually has classic Queso Dip. Yes a white cheese dip that rivals Moe's Southwest Grill and that is usually served west of New York state.

The cheesesteak Eggrolls were the best. And all of the food was increidble. Not to mentiin the cool Patron Margarita Tree.
We will be back in no time.

Before it gets busy, the service is great. I was there between the time and I can say the service went downhill from there. It’s newly opened and has plenty of things to straighten up.

I love the salsa and chip they gave us free when we got in. It’s a good start. So much for taco Tuesday at the bar, they removed it during that time. I guess it’s only for lunch. The drink is honestly so so. I think they water down too much juice to alcohol ratio. I barely taste any alcohol and a bit on the sweet side. Time to up the drink games guys.

Music outside can be annoying to the neighbor, I won’t be surprised one day someone come at night and smash those speakers. If you don’t have outdoor seating, don’t play outdoor music. What’s the point?

Food is honestly so so. I think they can use some more flavor. Where are the green sauce? The bean and rice is a little disappointing with zero taste. They said it was cooked in bacon and honestly I think it was boiled in water. The rice looks sad like from a buffet stand. How can you get that? Is it not fresh? But for price, it’s okie. We asked for some chef special but they ran out due to demand. I will come back for that. Definitely go for fajita here. Taco is okie but I only tried one. So time will tell.

Let’s start with the people. Friend and family gets special attention. It’s like the whole staff will come check on them. Other customers will be ignored after the initial ordering. I had to wait 15 minutes to get my check as another table had to wait 30 minutes for his drinks. I hope he got it for free. Our waitress disappeared on us after we got our food.

Interior has a lot of space. I didn’t know there was a whole new section on the other side of the main bar area. It’s nice to come and view the lake for a while and good spot to stop after a day kayaking or swimming. Outdoor seating guys!!

Five star because restaurant is hard business and I respect the fact they working things out.

On Dec. 23rd. I held a holiday family dinner with 20 people at this restaurant. The Mgr. Ana was pleasant and very helpful in setting this up. The day off, the waiter was extremely patient with everyone, courteous and on point with all the orders. I was very impress with the prices, they were very reasonable, much better than other nearby places. The food was great, service all around was very good. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for large gatherings. 👍

We stopped in to try and we were very happy we did...
Everything was delicious with large portions of food. The restaurant is nicely decorated with views available of the lake...There is outdoor seating as well as a dining room area or you can choose the bar area . There was all types of guests from family to business also motorcyclists pulling in.
Definitely a go back to place.

As a Texan who loves breakfast tacos and a well made margarita, Monarca Cantina hits the spot. My choice is the huevos con chorizo, but all of their breakfast options, although in very short supply (how about adding migas), are perfect for filling a warm tortilla (have you considered making these from scratch). Don’t forget the queso dip!

For dinner the Birria Tacos are pure perfection. Messy and delicious! The carne asada is also an amazing choice.

Let me just add that the decor is kitschy and cute and the view of the lake just adds to the experience. All they need is a second level outside for those gorgeous summer days.

Food never disappoints, plenty of parking, even though it was packed today, the waitress was awesome & funny. They have the best drinks, but it's the ONLY place that I've found that has Negra Modelo on DRAFT!!!

Let me tell you something. This place is worth it. The food is super tasty, the prices are fair, the service is excellent and the restaurant is super clean. Don't forget to tip and don't be stingy. thank you 💜Gracias por todo💜

Love this place! Exactly what our area needed. Lots of great food options and their drink menu is fantastic. Fresh guac is made right at your table and you can pick the ingredients they put in and the spiciness, which is always nice! Fish tacos are outstanding!

I had a great time here ! The food was delicious, authentic Mexican dishes. The drinks were also great. The server was super friendly and attentive. Overall I had a great experience here and would definitely go back.

The food is super. Their cochinita pibil and fish dishes my favorites. I can not drink alcohol and their virgin versions are always on point.
Order the house guacamole. It is prepared right in front of you and delicious, totally worthy.
Their hot sauce bar just genius. The decoration is quirky and detail oriented. Depending on your perspective, it could be very over the top or just fun.

A much needed Mexican restaurant just landed. With a waterfront view, and gorgeous decor. Service is amazing on a soft opening they are already busy. Pina coladas r v good. The chicken quesadillas and chimmichanga were delicious. They do have a kids menu too.

The food is absolutely amazing and plated beautifully and very well worth the price for the amount of servings you get you definitely don’t leave there hungry
