Came in to get some camping gear as a casual hiker. Zach was awesome! Took the time to talk to the wife and I through some hiking boots to make sure we got the right ones and then spent more time with us finding the right pack. Customer service the way it’s suppose to be. Love this place and will be going there for all my hiking needs! Shop Local!

Great customer service! Accidentally bought two of the same maps. Associates were able to help me get the right map; the exchange was seamless. Would highly recommend for any gear or maps you're looking for.

For a small local shop, they have a lot of what you need. My go to for consumables, socks, and some other gear. Even have dog stuff!

Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff! When you come in looking for something they make you feel as if you’re the only customer in the place! The shop had a wide variety of products from excellent brands. My go to store for all things outdoors!

Very friendly and helpful staff with excellent knowledge of the products they sell. They cleared a large area of the sales floor for me to set up 2 tents for comparison when I bought my last tent. You don't get that kind of service very often.

This is the second review I’ve given for the store, and it’s another positive one.

I have for over a decade been in retail sales, so I know how difficult it can be to have a smile on your face every day at work. Though Chris and Alton are two of there employees well-versed in hiking and backpacking, and have a great attitude in customer service. They are very kind and helpful when it comes to their product knowledge.

Also the owner, Brian, is very charismatic and accommodating to all that come into his store.

You don’t feel like a number when you walk into this store, or pressured to purchase any particular item. The store has an incredible staff that is willing to go the extra mile for your next excursion. Whether that be a weekend in the woods or a thru hike for many, many miles.

For all those serious about hiking and backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this is a store filled with great items and great personalities to go with. Teri Garvin and Matt Horton are two of their employees that truly go out of their way to accommodate you with attentive service and extensive knowledge of all their products, even if it’s the least expensive item in the store.

This place is amazing! It has everything you need for a day hike and a backpacking trip. We are on our honeymoon after getting married at Backwater Falls and visited this store in Old Winchester. The staff and owner are wonderful! We can not wait to come back to visit them!

Agreed. Excellent local backpacking store. The staff is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the hikes and trails in the area. If you think you may need additional gear, ask and they will totally steer you in the write direction.

Stopped by for last minute camping supplies on our way to Blackwater Falls. Helpful staff. They had what we needed. Very nice shop on Winchester's charming walking zone.

This is a great local outdoor outfitter where you can buy everything from hiking gear to camping and climbing supplies. The staff is super knowledgeable about local places for outdoor recreation. If you need gear or advice, it's a great choice.
