Man, this place was WAY freggin' cool. We stopped on our way back home to Roanoke, VA., and was seriously wishing for one more day in D.C. so I could have spent HOURS in this store. Owner is awesome. SUPPORT THIS STORE!!

Some might mistaken this business as another typical record store. While it might mirror similarities with the others, Som Records just feels more inviting than most record stores I have visited! I might be biased from their diverse selection and an owner who is also very friendly and passionate about the product they carry. This isn’t a store that wants $100 for a used vinyl but it is also a place that has rare vinyls for the avid collectors. I am really glad we spent time out of our day to come check Som out and the only regret is wishing we had more time to look around.

Thank you for keeping physical music alive and very tangible for the people who enjoy it!

Probably the best record store in DC area. Good location, store employees are always super helpful and knowledgeable. Plenty of variety for everyone’s tastes. Feels and looks like a record store should.

A fantastic record store! I found a lot of great stuff. Tons of good deals to be had in the $1 bin too. Don't forget to look on the lower shelves! I'm heading straight back here next time I'm in town!
Located below a barber shop, so it's kinda easy to miss. A truly hidden gem!

Get out there and support your local record store!

This record store is quirky, but the selection of records is plentiful. Just the day I visited, I walked out with 30 records I thought I would never find and I was happy. Now one thing though, if you are not paying attention you may walk by the place since it is tucked away behind a set of stairs. However, other than that it is a fun place to visit and enjoy looking for treasures in the shop. There's no doubt I'll be back.

Great store. Eclectic collection which was pretty surprising. More used than new so prices are good. The owner was helpful and friendly!

Great place for vintage vinyl. All 30 records i bought were in mint condition. Really cool environment. Good place to enjoy music. Pretty small, but cool.

Delightful little shop with some excellent browsing racks. Found some great soundtracks and noticed tons of cool old and brand new stuff.

This is my go-to place for RSD, the line is usually shorter than Joint Custody. The owner is super nice and has always been willing to tell me what release they have if I call ahead. Last time I was in there he saw I was buying a Wallows release and just offered me tickets to their show, no catch at all I just gave him my email. Probably the nicest thing an owner has done for me somewhere where I wasn’t a regular.

A wonderful used record store! Definitely a heavy focus on more instrumental, jazz, blues, and the like. Plenty of interesting finds in the world section and new releases as well.

The guy at the counter was awesome and fun to talk to, was helpful and nice.

Only problem was that the records were overpriced for the quality of the used records (VG to VG+), definitely should be more fairly priced

Nice little basement record store. Hard to find though. I still walk past the door accidentally. Prices are reasonable. People are friendly. Good selection of used vinyl. Small selection of new vinyl. Inside decor is cool. I go often and never had a bad experience and I always find a couple of things to buy.

Awesome little record shop! I was so glad to find this place! The owner was so helpful and I could tell he really believed in his business. Great selection overall, the only critique I will add is that I wish there were a little more Hip-Hop records for sale. Regardless, I was able to find the new Run the Jewels album, and Anderson .Paak's Malibu, which I've been looking to find for a while. Overall this was a tremendous experience and I would recommend this store to anyone. Would rate six stars if I could.

Proprietor really knew his stuff. There’s a turntable with headphones right there so you can listen to whatever you want before you buy it.

Walked out with a few very hard to find older Go Go records. He said he can’t keep them on the shelves so I was lucky.

Great place. Can spend hours in there if you’re not careful.

Amazing selection of records with a vintage Technics SL-1200 and integrated amplifier to test open-sleeve records on for scratches and dust. Reasonable prices with a healthy mix of vintage and new LPs, EPs, and 45s make it a must visit spot for any vinyl enthusiast.

Som Records had the new, remastered vinyl LP I wanted-- I went all over town to three other stores, I should have started at Som. Three person limit during quarantine made me feel safe indoors. Hard to find, it's down a circular stair. Not wheelchair accessable! :( Maybe there is a rear service entrance, though...

nice, quiet shop. Large used "rock" in their catalog. Nice hip-hop collection. Friendly vibe. Attentive and helpful staff (called me out for leaning on a stack while I was texting - deserved), that offered to assist with specific needs.

Spent a really enjoyable hour in here on Saturday evening digging through the boxes and talking with the owner. Found some great disco and house classics to take back to Scotland and make my friends envious 😉Great little shop.
