Great staff, loved the food there. Had the huevos rancheros, chicken tenders, and a burrito. Delicious and filling. The waitress was just awesome and efficient. Super clean bathroom, as well as the restaurant.

The selling point of Esther's is the number of locals, all in Wrangler jeans and cowboy hats, eating their favorite plates. While many were dining on cheese burgers and fries, others were enjoying breakfast that is served all day. The hevous rancheros looked delicious. Out cheese burgers were delicious. The burgers came with real, hand cut fries. The meal was hot and filling. Before leaving we made use of their restroom. It was clean and well cared for. As we travel this way throughout the year Esther's will be our go-to eating place.

Perfect stop for Texans traveling to the mountains! The food is freshly made and affordable. The parking lot had enough room to park our RV while we ate dinner. Tasty restaurant and friendly welcoming service.

We stopped at Esther's on a whim as we were hungry, and not much else was open. We really liked the friendliness of the staff and the food was very good. We shared a huevos ranchero plate, and between the both of us left satisfied. The red sauce was very good!

This was the only place open, and we were starving after a very long drive. It was like a step back in time. It was a very simple diner, nothing fancy.
The diner was clean. The waiter was pleasant and efficient. The food was great! BLT with avocado, breakfast burrito, and salad were all perfect.
Would choose Esther's again!!!!!

I was loading cattle in the nearby area and decided to stop here for a bite to eat on my way out to the ranch. I got the Sausage breakfast burrito smothered with the green chilli and it’s honestly one of the best I’ve ever had, for a truck driver who has had a lot of good food throughout the country that’s really saying something. Very kind and friendly staff and just a neat little place. If I’m in the area again I’ll definitely be back.

Classic diner, New Mexican emphasis. Homemade tortillas!!! Beans and chilis!

Menu is not huge, but everything we tried was great. I had the beef burrito for breakfast. I am glad we waited to get here.

Bathroom clean and the music was fine, not loud, just a pleasant background.

Nice folks.

On your way to see Billy you NEED to make a quick stop at Esther's.
The food and service is AMAZING
The best food in Fort Sumner hands down, and I'd say a gem in NM.
Authentic, fresh ingredients!
No fake or pre made beef paties, real, real, real, he even goes as far as to cut of gristle just for your meal! Talk about service and fresh!Awesome Service!
I can't recommend Esther's enough.
The owner BJ came out and introduced himself, I just can't say enough how personal, welcomingly wonderful the service & atmosphere was, that matches the food.
We are absolutely going again! 100☆s
Esther's is one of those rare 💎 gems you long to find in a quaint town like Fort Sumner known for "Billy the Kid" and in opinion "Esther's"

Oh and did I mention the green chili was on point as well as the red sauce!!!

In these photos we had Vjleo Burrito and Biscuits w/ eggs smothered with breakfast gravy & pepper.
Both were sooooo good 🤤

My husband won’t stop talking about his experience at this diner, so I’m posting this review. He and my son were 2 states away from home when they stopped at Esther’s for dinner. All of their food was quite delicious. My husband ordered the soup of the day (cream of chicken green-chile) and it was truly outstanding! Apparently, the owner offers a different homemade soup every week or so. He was very welcoming and friendly as well.

A must stop if you are hungry and want a delicious meal at a small town USA diner!!

Came in for work and this place is great. Got some burgers for the crew one night. Them and i loved it. Came back the next for the spicy chicken sandwich and thought was amazing as well. The people there are great, I've traveled through for work before and tried other spots, but this they care. Small town but great service and flavor. Witnessed some locals in there talking and having a good time with their meal but also the waitresses made you feel at home without the seclusion from being out of town. Would recommend 10/10.

Local family business cooking up some excellent food. Small menu which allows them to cook up food fast and fresh. We had the green chile cheeseburger, steak fingers, chicken tenders, and the special, green chile chicken enchiladas. The burger is handmade and had great flavor with hot green chile. Home cut fries are so good, which are rare as most places these days serve frozen. Both tenders were very good, chicken had lighter batter than the steak. The enchiladas were excellent as well. Service is great, with the owner checking on you. Locals were very nice and it has a great small town cafe feel. Cafe and restroom both very clean.

Definitely the place to stop for a great burger. I'm a very picky person and their burger and fries were one of the best I've had! The green chiles add a good kick but not too spicy.

This little place is amazing! I got the BIGGEST spicy fried chicken sandwich that put chick fil a to shame. Someone said they had sweet potato fries. That person is a liar. Their homemade fries are a'ight tho. Would definitely go back for another meal if we needed to stop near here!
