I did a last minute family trip to Helen GA. I did not know much about the town just a simple google search and found out they had trout! Stopped into the shop talked to WES he was very helpful and professional. He outfitted us with Flies, reels,rods, boots, waders a fly box everything you need to go fishing and showing up with nothing. We fished the down town area because that was the most public water we had to fish by our cabin we did catch rainbow and brown trout. Strongly recommend. The shop for all your fishing wants/ needs … note for the shop a “ rental program for waders,boots and rods would probably be a big hit” something to think about.

This place, and the folks that work and guide there, are a class act. They're super friendly and have a ton of knowledge about local, multi-species fishing, as well as the rest of the state, and region. Anytime I've dropped by, which is every time I'm in the area, the intel they've shared with me has put me on to a memorable adventure. While the store isn't huge, they have everything you could possibly need to go out and acquaint yourself with some trout pals in any water or weather conditions. Their fly selection is top notch and, if you ask, they'll be happy to help you fill a box with what you need for a successful outing, be that trout, bass, gar, etc. Whether you're just getting started in fly fishing, or you've been geeking out over bugs and fish for decades, I'd highly recommend stopping in and giving this operation some support. 10/10

As an avid fisherman, I am hard to impress on guided trips and have only had my socks knocked off once prior to this trip on a new river (to me) with my guide. He was low key, encouraging, very patient and knew the river inside and out. He seemed to know everything I needed to know and the pointers he gave me were darn near perfect! I spent 4 straight hours catching beautiful Rainbows! What a great experience with Unicoi Outfitters!

We had an excellent experience fly fishing with long time expert fisherman, Ken who was a patient, friendly, knowledgeable and fantastic guide. Even on a very cold day we caught many trout and had a large time. Thank y’all!

Thank you Jackson and Unicoi Outfitters! My boys experienced fly-fishing for the first time by doing the Gilligan guided trip. Today was the best day of fishing to date. They absolutely loved the sport and art of using a fly rod. Our guide, Jackson, was very knowledgeable and his tutelage for the introductory experience was hands down five star worthy. Can't give enough praise to Jake and the crew at Unicoi Outfitters. Having never fished the north Georgia waters for Rainbows, I hoped for a great learning experience with acknowledged experts in fly fishing in the beautiful environment. I couldn't have been luckier that find Unicoi and, in particular, Jake Darling, my guide for this adventure. Being a novice at best, I was relying on someone that was as good a teacher as a fisherman. Jake is that guide. In addition to putting me on some great fish, he taught me more about line management, casting tricks, and reading water than I can explain. Best fly fishing trip of my life. If you're considering a trip in Georgia, don't look any farther than Unicoi Outfitters and Jake Darling.

Israel guided me marvelously. Excellent tips for improving my casting, mending the line and using the rod better in landing those honker rainbows.

Great little place to pick up all your fly fishing gear & apparel. They have the fishing rights to some of the best stretch of chattahoochee trout waters in Helen, GA.

These folks are awesome! Went on the private water guided trip and was not disappointed. The guide put me on multiple 20”+ fish and was very good at showing this beginner the ropes. Would highly recommend.

Incredible guided fishing trips. Went out yesterday on a float with Jake and Wes with a buddy and our two sons. I’ve been on 4 trips with this group in the past two years. Trout fishing on the Chattahoochee and Soque. 2 float trips on the Chattahoochee for bass. I would rank these trips as high as any other I have ever been on.

Very helpful and friendly! Helped us with some spots, fly pics and tips. Listened and followed directions and were successful! Great knowledgeable staff and great selection of gear. It’s great to go into a shop that is actually helpful. It’s a must stop when you are in the area.

Broke my fly rod in the morning and stopped by the shop. The young man helped me with purchasing a new rod. It worked out great I bought a 4wt Loomis rod which felt outstanding and the control with this rod was great. Since all my fly tying equipment is in storage right now he helped me pick out some flies that will work in this area. I have a friend coming up in a month and I am going to set up a guide trip with them.

Been fishing with this shop for many years. Excellent stock of fishing equipment, fantastic fishing behind the shop is worth every second. Big trout, bearable prices. New to trout fishing? ask for a Gilligan which is a 3 hour tour! Many guided trip selections Ask for Jake, awesome guide, expert fisherman! Jake does many different kinds of fishing, wades and floats! Many exclusive wades on the Soque for big trout!

Best Fly Shop in the North GA Mountains! It's run by some great folks who are extremely knowledgeable and always eager to help out in any way then can. They do a lot of great things for the community and trout fishing too, like sponsoring kids fishing events and numerous other functions. Thanks Unicoi Outfitters for also putting out the best weekly fishing report around! If you're in the area, stop by and chat with the guys and pick up some new gear or some tying materials. Great place with great selection and friendly, knowledgeable staff. I visit this fly shop every time I’m in Helen and I always receive the same exceptional service. Wes will give you the hot fly intel and Jeff will tell you where and how to use it. Not to mention they saved my bacon a few times when I needed fly fishing supplies in a pinch. These guys are pros and they go above and beyond to help you get on fish. Highly recommend this store.
