We had just arrived in town on a Friday evening and ducked in just as a storm began. Definitely to our good fortune. We had the root burger and a swordfish special. Both were just wonderful, the swordfish especially. The only reason I gave four stars for atmosphere was that it was a little hot and crowded. Our server was super pleasant as we have found all of the locals to be. We would return to this restaurant for sure.

Enjoyed during our vacation earlier this year. Great cocktails, bartenders provided extraordinarily generous pour of bourbon for husband I think due to the length of time it was taking to get food. They were under staffed but our waitress was wonderful. We really enjoyed the experience even if it took a long time. The meatballs with grits were superb. Fresh salads were delightful. Husband had the chocolate rubbed ribs and I had the seabass and shrimp with horseradish mashed potatoes. The portions were huge and everything tasted great.

Fantastic food and service. Menu has numerous great options, will be back to try more of the cuisine

Appetizers were delicious and probably the favorite part of my meal. Good craft beer selection! Felt like we were being a little rushed by our waiter, but besides that everything was delicious!

Our party of 4 walked in without reservations on 12/16 and found the atmosphere to be quite cozy and pleasant. We sat at a huge very comfortable booth. Our waitress was an A+. I first received a salad with a Gorgonzola dressing. I had never had that but it was similar to a blue cheese dressing. That was quite tasty. I ordered the fall scallop risotto and I loved it. I thought the shrimp almost tasted like popcorn, the scallops were perfectly soft, and the risotto retained a fabulous flavor.
My wife ordered the butternut squash soup and although it didn’t taste quite like what she expected, she still thought it was great. She also got the scallops and loved them.
My in-laws ordered the burgers and one loved it while the other had ordered it medium and it came out pretty red. It was rectified quickly.
A couple of drinks were also ordered and really enjoyed.
Overall I think this is our favorite restaurant in Georgetown!

This place is a must go to establishment....go right now if you can..just check their hours first. On the way back to Murrells Inlet from being at the Scottish Games in North Charleston I suggested we stop in at Root for a quick bite and drink. Just before entering I spotted two cool cats in the alley.. you know who you are. They escorted us inside and we sat at the most beautiful well equipped and stocked bar with the most professional bartenders we had the pleasure of serving us. Be sure to ask for the CHEROLINA..flavored vod cranberry with prosecco over ice..you will be amazed.. We looked at the menu and heard the amazing specials..don't forget to ask about the chophouse menu. We shared the wagyu beef sliders the tastiest beef I have ever tasted..so tender well seasoned and served on a Hawaiian roll. The side salads were so fresh and delicious along with warm bread. We came in excited left full and looking forward to returning real soon when we are super hungry. Thank you ROOT for making our first visit a memorable one. We kinda felt like we were a big deal.

Sat down and was worried about the menu, nothing jumped out at me and it was a small menu. However, after ordering the Adukt Grilled cheese, Cheesesteak egg rolls and Meatballs and grits we were extremely happy with the food. It is top notch, so there is something about doing a small menu but doing it VERY well. I highly recommend this place. The food, atmosphere and service is on point!

I recently dined at Root in Georgetown, SC, and I'm thrilled to report an exceptional experience. The service was unparalleled – truly some of the best I've encountered since moving to the area 2.5 years ago.

As for the food, I indulged in the Shrimp and Grits, a delicious medley of sausage, onions, bell peppers, and fresh local caught shrimp, all luxuriously tossed in a creamy white wine butter sauce over white cheddar grits. Every bite was a celebration of flavor, perfectly balanced and sumptuously satisfying. For $26.00, it's a dish I wholeheartedly recommend.

Root has earned a regular spot on my dining rotation, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

From the food to the service, Root has everything you want in a local restaurant. We love the Waygu Sliders and Grouper Bites for appetizers.The Flounder is my favorite dinner item, and my kids always order the pasta with chicken. The food is excellent, prices are great, and the people are good. It's a welcoming place, y'all.

Atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was extra friendly and attentive even as busy as it was. Tasha was covering it all with a smile on her face. I wanted to try every appetizer and I probably should've! The meatballs were so good! I was set up with pretty high standards but unfortunately the Bolognaise didn't hit the mark for me.

Never thought I would order country fried steak at a nicer restaurant, but it’s my comfort dish, so I did and man was it delicious. It’s just a hop and a skip from my home in Awendaw, so will definitely be going back.

Had an amazing meal. You have to try the crispy brussel sprouts as an appetizer! Everything was phenomenal! Natasha is one of the best servers ever, and Charles is an outstanding bartender! Check them out....you will not be disappointed!!! Will definitely come again!

Spent Friday night at the bar. I started with Fried green tomato and it was excellent. I had the wagyu steak and shrimp special. The steak melted in my mouth and the sides were delicious. The bread that came out with the salad was the best table bread I have ever had. I had the brownie dessert that was too big to finish. I enjoyed the meal so

This place impressed me! From the interior decor, to the waitstaff, to the food. Great prices and a stellar location. I had the Meatballs and Grits and will have to have this every time I come here. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!!

We stopped in during our first night in town. Our bartende, Bex, was amazing! We had the mussels, burrata salad, and grouper bites. Everything was great. We even order extra bread to dip into the mussel sauce! The Blondie for dessert wasn't the best, but still great with our after dinner espresso martini!

This is a little late posting, my friend and I ate at Root the end of July. We just stopped by before dinner for some appetizers. Had the Caprese Bites and Peach Crostinis they were delicious 😋 and our server Rick was excellent!!!! Great place, great service, ask for Rick❤

As usual I loved my dinner here at Root! I look forward to coming here when I come home to visit! The toot burger is da bomb! Nice n juicy! But everything is good! Kyle served me and as usual his customer service was top tier!

Server was outstanding, food was well-prepared & flavorful, and delivered in a timely manner. There was also a good variety of wine.

Our second time here! We have tried different dishes each trip, they were all delicious. We are coming back for sure! Highly recommend you stop by if you are in the area.
