Four friends sought out an evening of great food, ambiance, and service and were not disappointed in their fine dining experience. We ordered four different menu items, started with two apps, cocktails, and wine with dinner.
We all, however, thought that bread would be a nice addition at the table.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be a return customer.

Delicious Gourmet Dining in a Totally Updated Tavern circa 1710 in the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula area.
Amazing Chef with Great Seafood and Meat Offerings Salad sand Desserts all Made in House. You will not be left Hungry with the Large Portions not Usually Found in Upscale Eateries of this Quality

If not from the area come stay at the Historic Essex also owned by the Huff Family.

Excellent dinner. The pork chop was tender and well seasoned. Yummy crab cakes. The strawberry rhubarb hand pies for dessert were exceptional. Charming atmosphere. You must visit!

Had the crab benedict and crab soup. Best I’ve ever had! Old world charm and history. Very unique with lovely atmosphere, ambiance, and charm!

My wife and I have visited here around four or five times now. Every single time has been exceptional. This is an excellent atmosphere with great food and great service.

Some locals have complained that it is pricey, but high quality ingredients and high technique justify the prices. I honestly don't believe that the general public understands what all goes into gastronomy to generate that quality of results.

1710 also offers monthly wine dinners in which you get more than what you pay for. I would encourage anybody to try this dining establishment and we are lucky to have this so close to home. Greg and his staff will be there to welcome you.

This is just flat out good food. The She Crab soup is incredible. You won't find a better burger anywhere in the area. The restaurant itself was built in 1710 and the vibe takes you back to the Colonial Era with two large fireplaces and old world decor. The owners are very involved and are nice people. The bartender is also top notch. You can get the kind of cocktails here that you'd see on the menu in a much larger city. This is a must-do if you're in this beautiful part of Virginia.

Amazing place in the heart of Tappahannock! My son and me had the barfood menu (should call it the "beyond-barfood menu" if you ask me!) with super savoury plates in the bar area or on the terrace outside. We even came back for fine dining with really great food (loved the crab cakes!!) and a decent wine list in the restaurant area. Bartender Micky is an expert in making cocktails as well. fantastic place with a lot of history, the owner is passionate about it and has great stories... We'll be back!!

I highly recommend this place. The owner Greg and the bartenders TJ and Mickey are first class. And don't complain about prices! Everything is expensive today but you get your money's worth if you are looking for a classy place. Besides, George Washington came here! That's for you history buffs.

What a wonderful place. Food great. Service great. Capture of history great but what takes 1710 to another level are the people. Mickey and Kaitlyn wonderful and very friendly willing to engage!! I have the honor of getting to spend time with the owner who sat down and shared a glass of wine while we visited!!!!!
This is a wonderful experience with a great story and GREAT people behind it!!!

This restaurant is a little gem in a town lacking dining options. Everywhere in Tappahannock tastes the same, over priced pizza, over priced fast food. This place is amazing. The food was beautiful and delicious, the options were unique and the service was perfect. It’s expensive but worth it.

This place is unbelievably good...the menu is so attractively elevated and the chef/kitchen produces spectacular items one right after another. We ate from the Bar menu, with the Tavern menu much more elevated yet. Oyster Rockefeller Stew and Oyster Po Boy to start with sides of "Almost" a Cesear Salad, Loaded Debris Fries and Hush Puppies, all were uniquely outstanding. The chef has some very serious cooking chops/skills! Hurry along to 1710 Tavern before it becomes difficult to get a reservation...you'll love it!!

We have been twice, and will back again. We had casual dinner on the patio, Smashburger was excellent, and you have to get the onion rings. 2nd visit we had dinner in the dinning room, and it was outstanding. The best ribeye I have ever had. Cocktails were made with quality brands, mixed perfect. The inside of the Tavern is so cool - exposed beams, recycled and reclaimed artifacts, just a cool atmosphere. This is the fine dinning place that Tappahannock has been asking for.

Charming tavern with excellent food and service. Craft cocktails were delicious. Crab cake appetizer, Caesar salad were amazing. Short ribs are a must and the oyster stew is the best we’ve ever had! You must come to this quaint little tavern when in Tappahannock. Can’t wait to try the bar/pub menu.
