La Mexicana Restaurant

Classic Mexican fare, tasty and generous, nice flavors— we had fish tacos, enchiladas and tamales. Huge sodas and lots of chips & salsa. Interior looks like it’s been there forever, a much-loved local spot. We were happy with both food and service.

We stopped for breakfast and we're good we did. The chilaquiles were amazing: crispy tortilla chunks, perfectly cooked beans, eggs lightly scrambled into the mixture, topped with ranchero sauce and cheese. We also ordered the pozole, which arrived in a huge bowl with a side of small tostadas and beans with cabbage, cilantro, and onions to put in the soup. The spot is cozy, a little retro, and clean. Definitely a must visit, especially for breakfast.

Deep fried ice cream wasn’t what we expected though. It was vanilla ice cream covered with cereal flakes, not uncommon just wasn’t what we were looking for. Still tasted delicious

Ordered a Chile relleno a la carte, good value for the price. Best Chile relleno I have ever had, hands down. It had lots of cheese, the batter was flavorful and the sauce was excellent. Also ordered two cheese enchilada combo to go. Nice big portion. The beans were delicious, rice was light and fluffy, enchiladas were amazing. The chips however were stale.. I'm sure the chips are fresh during the day. I did go late, 30 mins before closing. The restaurant was empty and there was no music playing. The decor is a little plain. Nice comfy booths with plenty of room for a big guy. My Modelo cheladas were very good as well. I'll definitely be back and recommend the Chile relleno to anyone who will listen.

It was a very authentic place. Service was friendly. We had tacos of different kinds and all was delicious.

Atascadero has no shortage of superb Mexican food, and this place is still one of my favorites to dine in. My favorites are their tacos, burritos, and chili relleno. I like the casual diner-like atmosphere and the staff are the best, they have always been so friendly and attentive!

As always great food and lovely family service. I am a huge fan of their sopas and you can never go wrong with their burritos. My husband really likes their soups too. Prices are right $10.00 to $14.00 for amazing homemade dishes.

Can't believe I've never been here before! Good good and great ambience! Pazoli soup was yummy! Even better when I put their delicious salsa in it for a little more kick.

My family has been eating there for 18 years. We have watched their two girls grow up and help in the restaurant and then one daughter leave and become an EMT. Before I even sit down, they are bringing my favorite beverage. To top it off, the food is always great.

The staff is very friendly. Food is fresh and prepared quickly. Small town atmosphere. I have the shrimp enchilada. The enchilada sauce with spicy. I would definitely have it again.

This place is awesome they have great Mexican food there. I go there quite often to get the Menudo definitely the best place to get menudo in all of North County. The staff are very very friendly and the restaurant is always so clean. Every time I go there it's not usually too busy which is nice. You can also order tamales there for Christmas or New Year's or just about any time I'm sure.

I used to frequent La Mexicana but hadn't gone in awhile. Don't know why I stopped frequenting this place. I love it! Great food, great service, reasonable prices, great selection to pick from! I'll be going back!

La Mecicana has delicious carnitas, beans & rice. I have eaten this Carnitas Dinner upwards of 10 times... & will have it another 10 times, at least. Two Thumbs Up

It was absolutely delicious there was only one server that he was still very composed and as nice as can be the way it was a little longer because of that but the food made up for it it was delicious
