Ray's Delicatessen & Tavern

On my way out to the coast with Teabiscuit to snag some oysters for the BBQ and just had to stop at Ray's Delicatessen for a quick sandwich. And, I'll tell you why...the last time I went out there hungry, I ate 40 bucks worth of oysters before leaving.
Ol Teabiscuits coming with me because he's never seen an oyster before ...he's from South Dakota...the poor guy. That Ray's Deli sure smacks it out biggly! I couldn't decide between a ham or a turkey sandwich and said just surprise me. I got both, a true 50/50. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Best sandwiches in town... Don't pass up the soups either! Nice selection of beers on draft.

Enjoyed the avocado turkey with added garlic aioli. Warm, soft, delicious, perfect size. Was not disappointed! Friendly service, nice little spot inside, that Tavern feeling. Outdoor seating as well. Glad I stopped by it’s been a while since I’ve visited a deli!

Was my 1st time, my husband went his 1st time last week and couldn't believe how amazing the sandwiches were and definitely knew I'd love them as well. Absolutely delicious definitely going to be our new place to get our sandwiches.

Great place to stop and have a really good sandwich! My husband and I were in the area hiking, we were hungry afterwards. So we stopped at Ray's! Good decision. I ordered the Roast Beef special. Very flavorful. The roll was just the right amount of crispy and soft. The roast beef was juicy and peppery... Probably came from the Pesto aoli sauce! Great service. casual environment, clearly full of regulars 👍🏼

Ray's is hands-down my favorite lunch place of all time. With a menu full of delicious sandwiches AND a tavern with great local beet on tap, it's hard to go anywhere else for lunch. Hot tip: order the roast beef special "French dip style" or the French dip on garlic bread.... you'll never regret it.

Roast Beef Special is to die for! Layers of flavor that are cohesive and different. Great imaginative foods that are huge.

A couple sandwiches had a star for spicy on them & I think just had Chipotle Mayo, we didn’t notice any significant kick, but to each their own, they were still delicious :)

Seriously one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life, and I'm 65 so that's a lot of sandwiches. Not only was the combination of flavors amazing, but each ingredient was delicious from the thinly sliced fresh turkey to the perfectly cooked bacon and fabulous pesto sauce. I had the Keokuk and highly recommend it. The rolls are great too - not just regular bread, some special recipe that's divine. If you've been here, you know what I'm talking about! If you haven't, treat yourself to a killer sandwich sometime. Ray's has such an unassuming presence (on an out of the way street with a humble exterior) that I almost keep driving . . . but so glad I stopped. This is the kind of sandwich where you look like a crazy person because you mutter to yourself about how frickin' good it is between every bite. YUM!

Amazing sandwiches!! I placed a large order (about 15 sandwiches) for a family reunion I was having, and everyone LOVED their sandwiches! We all got something different, so I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. Also, the staff was very friendly and accommodating! I would say the price is pretty good for how amazing the food is. Can't wait to go back and try something new!

Walked in for lunch and they warned us it would be a long wait, which I appreciated knowing. We got our delicious draft beers quickly though. Outdoor seating was nice and spaced far enough that I felt safe. The sandwiches were delicious when they arrived. Worth the wait, and the staff was helpful and friendly. People were wearing masks indoors in the deli side, which I appreciated because my kids are too young to be vaccinated yet.

Special place. Great neighborhood spot with awesome sandwiches and a good beer selection. I really appreciate this place.

PSA: The kitchen gets slammed sometimes so if you are in a hurry call ahead with your order and check the wait.

I'm pleasantly surprised with this spot. Soft and tasty house made loaves. Chips and drinks if you're taking it to-go. They also have bar seating with a great selection of taps in the back if you're sticking around. Good food, good beer, good service, good location. Good job Ray's, keep it up.

Great sandwiches, friendly service

I forgot about this gem so I went in and got a sandwich and oh my goodness!! It was delicious!!!! the bread was amazing I had to mention it because I think that's what sets this place apart from every other deli (in my opinion) good customer service very friendly and you can take it to go or enjoy your food outside on the benches. Will be going in again soon!

I love love love this place. Every single one of their sandwiches are absolutely amazing! They have great beer on tap, the bartenders and owners are always very friendly!!! I probably will go here at least twice a week for the rest of my life!

I absolutely love this place. It's a fixture in the neighborhood and the sandwiches are phenomenal. One side is a bar with food craft beer in draft and the other is a deli. You can even order sandwiches from the bar. They do get quite busy at times so be prepared to wait. It's quite worth it though.
