It's amazing what nature has hidden in New Hampshire. We saw all 'The Basin' signs and decided to see for ourselves. It was a short walk from parking lot on 93N. We were amazed at what time had done! Good for short hike, great for pics and had some nice spots to wade in the clear, cold waters

Lots of cascades and waterfalls on this trail. Can be treacherous if you go after it rains. Enjoyed every part except when I got my shoes and socks full of mud! Be careful but have fun.

Excellent stop for a break off the road. Cool near the water. Wear a sweatshirt or light jacket. Also, there are mosquitoes in the woods. Other than that it is like a gem in the forest.

Great (!!!) hike next to the water.
Prepare for lots of mud (after rain) and good skills of walking.
I would mind the Pemi Trail, we got very lost on the way back and had to make it trough the woods.

This place is unforgettable and free! My kids had so much fun exploring and playing on the trails and on the rocks. I can't say enough about how cool this place was and a welcome break from the bigger hikes we did but with all the beauty and nature. If I had a complaint its that the bathroom needed some attention ( soap and tp refills) but it's basically an out house so don't set your expectations on something super fancy. As for the hike, I recommend water shoes and maybe a change of clothes and towels if you explore some of the water ways( you 100% should). Although most the surfaces off trail are very smooth the rocks can get pretty hot. Hope this was helpful, one more thing I would like to add if you take your children higher up then just the basin please keep an eye on smaller children some of the water looks shallow but it's deeper than it seems. I ended up with a very funny video of my son thinking he was walking through a puddle and ended up to his chest and water. It could have been very bad luckily it was not.
** Always leave with what you came with and more if someone else wasn't decent enough to do so.

Gorgeous hike along a creek, starting with the striking basin waterfall. Hike to Lonesome Lake and then back down to Lafayette Campground

Love this place. Summer, Winter or Spring. My favorite getaway from my busy life. Even when it seems busy, you can be alone with nature. Beautifully relaxing .

This hike was fantastic. Had quick very stunning sites right off trail head. But equally impressive and some moderately steep root/rock experiences if you wanted to keep going. Love that the trail took us through the river and was dog friendly. Can make this one a loop too (well a u technically) if you have two drivers.

Easy Motorcoach access
Two outhouses at the parking lot level
Two more outhouses 2 minutes down the trail
Low mobility guests fork to the left.
High mobility guests fork straight, then fork left to make a loop.

Fun little trail just off the highway. The basin is always a joy to be holed, and the waterfalls just a half mile up or quite nice. There are always lots of people here and sometimes you have to wait for a parking spot, but it is worth it.

Great for a family hiking on a nice September day, not too hot. Plenty of parking and restrooms to use.
Nice trails for either biking or hiking, fun for all ages, very clean as well.

Great walking experience and the views are amazing. You can take your whole family here just hold the little ones hands at certain locations. The water is very cold I admit but it's worth going in.

Beautiful walk along a well groomed path along a river with cascades and geological bowl formations.

A peaceful place to enjoy nature, waterfalls, hikes, bike paths and more. Get astounded by the force of water and how it forms art in the granite based riverway. Take time to soak in the din from the falls, the smells of the woods, and to search for mushrooms or other flora. An easy walk from the parking lot. Parts of The Basin have handicapped accessibility. Return to your car when you are finished or continue on from there with many trails to spots unknown.

Beautiful walk along the river. It is always worth the stop! Not too difficult and easy enough for kids.

Good small hike to the basin and cascading falls. Kid friendly hike with good scenic views. There are few spots for swimming but the water is super cold. Definitely worth visiting.

Nice hiking trail alone the creek from mountain. We did the whole circle which is about 8 miles. You need to wear hiking boots not sneakers and need to be reasonable fit. Don’t recommend seniors and young kids. The road is full of rocks and roots so you need to hop through and keep watching your step. Be careful to pay attention when you need to cross the creek to keep you on the right trail. If the trail narrows down then you are on the wrong way! On the top you are rewarded by a nice lake.

I had the most amazing experience hiking the Basin! The trail took me through a breathtaking journey surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil forests. The highlight of the hike was undoubtedly the mesmerizing waterfalls that seemed to emerge straight out of a fairytale. The cascading waters created a soothing melody that accompanied me throughout the trek. The well-maintained path made the hike enjoyable for hikers of all skill levels. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful escape, this trail offers a perfect blend of beauty and serenity. Don’t forget your camera – you’ll want to capture the moments of awe-inspiring natural beauty along the way. I can’t wait to return to this trail and experience its magic all over again!
