I was craving some hot soup and went to Google only to find numerous over priced chain restaurants. That's when I saw a review talking about the hot and sour soup. "Best ever" one said while another review mentioned "it's soooo inexpensive". That did it for me. Literally minutes later I'm out in my car enjoying a absolutely delicious cup of soup. The price was right and it really hit the spot.
But it wasn't the soup that made me want to write this review. It was the atmosphere and extremely kind service I received. It is perfectly clear this is a family owned restaurant. The exact kind people are constantly chirping about supporting. I hate to share my hidden gems, but this place deserves all of the love. What a fantastic diamond hidden in plain sight. I will definitely be back!

Friendly staff. Love to go there on Sundays for dim sum! Kids and I also love Singapore rice noodles! They bring dim sums in a cart like it should be! They used disposable table cloth and plasticware.

Don't let the parking lot, the paint or the disposable plates and cups scare you away. The food is good and hard to find elsewhere.

Before tapas was popular, dim sum was THE small sharable food experience. In the Salt Lake area it's not super easy to find. South of Chinatown (supermarket) it's very not easy to find. Except here. And I've got to say, what I ate here was solid.

Ordered some simple classics. Shrimp Har Gow, Pork Shu Mai, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, BBQ Pork Rice Roll, Pan Fried Pot Stickers and Sesame Balls. A huge compliment I can give, is that everything tasted fresh. A lot of dim sum places reheat frozen items. They taste okay, but you can tell the difference. Now... is this a world class example of dim sum? No. But it is a "representative" example of dim sum, and it's absolutely worth eating.

If you aren't familiar with Dim Sum, I'd completely recommend my menu (above) minus the BBQ pork rice roll. The rice paste sheet is probably a bit gummy for a western palette. The steamed BBQ pork buns and pork Shu Mai are standouts, while the shrimp Har Gow needed some larger pieces of shrimp and the pot stickers were a bit more green onion heavy than I prefer, but it is a good and enjoyable selection for people who might be afraid that everything is made of chicken feet.

The sesame balls are a fried dessert and deserve their own mention because they are just that special. You can only really have this dessert when they are fresh made and fried as they do here. As they sit, they dry out and lose their magic. They are completely unique and a must try item.

If you want an authentic Chinese experience, you have to try this place out. Yes, there are paper plates and plastic cups. All of the good “hole in the walls” use these types of stuff. Let’s be honest, at least you know it’s very clean.

The dim sum is delicious, I especially like the turnip cake and the Ham Sui Gok. The hot sauce is homemade and it is spicy, so be careful. Honestly, it’s one of the few places where you can get good dim sum for under 5.00.

Do yourself a favor and come check it out. This place isn’t a five star restaurant, it’s a delicious hole in the wall.

Amazing! Best haw gao is town! I'm so picky since I can't stand the fishy aftertaste of shrimp. We ended up ordering 2 additional servings of it! Siu Mai & pork ribs were also great. Loved the attentive service & quality of their hot oil! If you like spicy their hot oil is wonderful on it all!!

Authentic and delicious dim sum! Still warm pastries and really crispy pan friend dishes. My favorite were the shrimp cheung fun, pan friend turnip cake, and chicken feet.

Family owned restaurant. They speak cantonese and mandarin. Comfortable seating and plenty of space. They used plastic cups for water and paper plates, plastic forks but I don't think it matters because the food was delicious and that's what I spend the money on.

Always delicious! :) Not a first date spot, but definitely a friends and family hangout spot. I recommend the seafood soup, and turnip cakes, shrimp ball and tofu dish.

My family has been eating here for 30 years. It’s the only place we go in Utah for dim sum. If you’re expecting something fancy than this is not the place to be. But if you want the best dim sum and food this is the place. I don’t mind waiting and I understand small family business especially when they had to leave their other location that they were downtown SLC. So if you get paper plates and plastic cups? Don’t judge! Their other place was much smaller than this place. They have a very small staff and probably don’t have the man power to clean the dishes like other places. I love them so much and was so sad when they closed. I will always come here and support them!

Served the traditional Chinese way in push carts in metal steamers. It's absolutely nostalgic.and the best authentic dim sum in utah!

Best best Chinese restaurant in the city! Proved by local friends as their all time favorites and recommend me to try. Their chicken is very authentic, just like what I have had in Taiwan. Dim sum is also good, turnip cakes is the Hong Kong style. Super tasty! Will revisit when I am in SLC again.

Great food, mildly standoffish waitstaff.

Try the Char Siu Noodle Soup, get it Extra Spicy!

The Eggplant in Garlic Sauce and Chinese Broccolini with Beef are excellent. Dim Sum is nice too, especially the Pork Shu Mai and Pork Buns.

They came to this new location after losing their 30-year-old location downtown, and all the old regulars have followed. Everything is delicious and worth the travel and wait!

Many Chinese families downtown made this their go-to for out-of-town visitors and it has a fabulous legacy to it that will hopefully last another 30 years plus.

I just moved to Utah and was relieved to find real Cantonese food at Cafe Anh Hong. If you’re looking for upscale, refined dining, this ain’t it, but if you’re looking for real Cantonese food, this IS it, despite the ham fried rice (really?!?!) option on the menu. The dim sum is terrific and some of it is exceptional. The chicken feet are the best I’ve ever had. My dad used to complain at restaurants that only his mother would cook them long enough and would have loved them here. The tripe is book tripe from a cow’s third stomach, which to me is a good substitute for noodles when I’m watching my carb intake. There’s also a dumpling on the menu with shrimp and leeks that we haven’t seen in the dim sum carts, yet, that you also gotta try. Oh, and they have fresh tofu with ginger syrup (aka dofuhua)!

I guess that I’ve picked where I’m eating out, today. I’ll see you there!

Sunday night we went for the first time to Cafe Anh Hong. WE ordered way to much 😂 but the food was just so yummy. I would definitely recommend you give them a try. While we were there thay had a no stop stream of pick up orders so if you don't fancy going out for dinner then just order it to go 😉

This is my favorite dim sum restaurant. They serve you with paper plates and plastic cups but their food is SO good. I also love the window side booths that feel somewhat secluded.

Cafe Ahn Hong is an authentic dim sum place unparelled to any other dim sum place in Salt Lake City. The service was great, and the food was so fresh you could taste the wok hei. The owner was also very friendly, even having a conversation with my family. Additionally, this family business makes their own rice noodles, which makes the chow fun a must have. NYC may have dim sum places lining the streets of Chinatown, but Cafe Ahn Hong's food certainly stands out for being homemade delicious and fresh.

This is by far the best Chinese food I've had in the state. They're a small, family owned and operated restaurant with a hole-in-the-wall atmosphere and amazing food. My picky-eater kids devoured the dim sum and killed the orange chicken and salt and pepper squid. I also recommend the house noodles with the homemade rice noodle option - such a great mix of flavors! We will eat there again, and hope to see you there!

Cafe Ahn Hong is an absolute gem in the world of Chinese dim sum, and my husband and I can't get enough of it! The chicken feet are a true delight – perfectly seasoned, tender, and bursting with flavor.
But let me not forget the star of the show, the steamed spare ribs with black beans, an exquisite blend of savory goodness that keeps us coming back for more.

Now, some might grumble about the paper plates and plastic utensils, but we appreciate the practicality and cost-efficiency for the restaurant. It adds a unique charm to the atmosphere, creating a laid-back and unpretentious setting that resonates with authenticity.

The wait staff at Cafe Ahn Hang deserves a standing ovation. Their kindness and politeness create a welcoming ambiance, and their attentiveness ensures you never have an empty teacup or an unanswered question. It's a rare find in the restaurant world, and they truly deserve more love and attention.

So, if you're craving delectable dim sum served with a side of genuine charm, Cafe Ahn Hang is the place to be. Trust me, you'll leave with a satisfied stomach and a heart full of appreciation for this hidden culinary haven.

This fun and relaxing mom and pop place serves amazing dim sum. Each dish is very reasonably priced, but so delicious it's hard not to try them all.

Delicious.. authentic Chinese food (with some American versions available, if that's your preference). Coming from NY via LA, this is one of my top favorite restaurants in SLC. The people, the food and the down-to-earth (it's not fancy) atmosphere make this a rare, and inexpensive, gem.
