Absolutely above and beyond service

I ordered tandoori salmon with roti off doordash from here, but it was cancelled. Instead of doordash cancelling the order, they charged me $20 to deliver roti. What sane person wants that???

After going through a ton of hassle with doordash support, they denied my refund. Not after first trying to convince me that they had refunded it (they only refunded half the order).

On my way back from getting food from another place, I decide to pickup my roti and to my surprise, the restaurant included an order of salmon tikka free of charge. They clearly werent paid by doordash they definitely lost money on my order but they chose to make up for doordash’s mistake. There’s no better service than that.

This is a gem of a restaurant. A small family owned place that probably deserves more recognition than it gets. My chana masala was probably one of the best I’ve had and the naan was incredible.

Ordered takeout and their flexible hours were a life raft in the normally tumultuous sea that is P Street after 11pm on a weekday. Truly delightful meal that felt masterful but still like home. May become a staple for late night meals

Food was excellent. The tikka masala was a bit different than I'm used to, but still good. The korma was excellent and the Naan was delicious and perfectly cooked. All served with a nicely made bowl of fluffy rice. Food is very affordable for this part of DC.

It almost feels like this is a different location than the bad reviews are talking about. Will definitely be returning.

India gate? More like India great! My brother and I absolutely went wild over the tikka masala, eating it down to the last grain of well cooked rice.

They do deliver, they do ask for cash if you do not pay online, very good people. The haters can see ya later, ain’t no way this is one star.

It is extremely obvious that this institution has been maliciously review-bombed which is a shame because my friends and I got takeout from here and all agreed it was very good. Makhani and Tikka masala were excellent, did not love the saag personally but it was not bad. Do not trust the obviously fake mass of 1 star reviews

Flavors were on point. Reasonably priced. Was wondering why it was empty. Can't believe ppl are giving this place low stars based on the buffet. Order off the menu and stop being cheap. Service was face and pleasant.

I hesitate to order after reading the reviews, but maybe after so many bad reviews, service and chef have changed. Foos was delicious and service and great...

The owners were very friendly, the rice was fluffy, and the chana was very flavorful. It was very empty the weekday that I visited during lunch. If you want to avoid a crowd at lunch and enjoy Indian food, I recommend India Gate.

India Gate is a hidden gem off DuPont Circle. Family run, the service is friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food is delicious and well-portioned — we ordered Korma and Vindaloo and were very happy. My mango lassi was freshly puréed (so good!) and they have a full bar, which was great for my husband (who had a 22oz Taj Mahal lager). Will definitely return when we’re back in town.

We stopped in on a quiet Sunday a few weeks ago and the couple that own the restaurant helped us pick a few dishes and we enjoyed it very much! Hospitable owners with great food.

Tastes like homemade Indian food. I love this place. Just read a bunch of the other reviews on here. A few additional comments: this food is not super rich, thick or buttery which, to be honest, I get annoyed by most Indian restaurants. That stuff feels so unhealthy whereas this food tastes light, delicious, and flavorful without all the extra unhealthy stuff. That's why it feels more like food you would eat in someone's home as opposed to a restaurant. It's nice.

Wonderfully unique flavors, good portions, and relaxing atmosphere. If you want a delicious, off-the-beaten path spot to impress your friends, go here. Good spot for a date, too. Staff was SUPER sweet and friendly. We enjoyed taking to them. (And great Indian beer!)

India Gate is worth the visit! It was absolutely the best Indian food I have ever tasted In Washington, DC. My family and friends enjoyed the dinner very much. I would definitely go back plenty of more times. I recommend everyone to taste the amazing food in India Gate. This place has lots of food to choose from if you love chicken there's a whole section, If you are a vegetarian they also have a section for that too. There menu has many different options and i am glad they do, it gives me a option to try new things each time I go back.

Very friendly, family-run restaurant. They will work hard to make sure you like the food they are eating. We recently hosted a group dinner here for 15 people, and everyone had a great job. If you are having a group dinner, definitely host it here, you can ask for the upstairs room, and likely have the whole place to yourself!

Owner was also server and welcomed us into his restaurant. The Buffett wasn't ready, but owner said he would make a buffet and bring to our table. The naan was warm and delicious. The rice and entrees were made to perfection. He invited us back for dinner.

India Gate is a typical, immigrant family run, small restaurant, whose owner has yet to realize that it they want to make it, they need to change their "one tiny dressing per a $7 salad" mentality. Also had a yellow dal which was fabulous although not as spicy as I would have liked, even though I stressed that it needs to be extra spicy. Unfortunately place was dark and empty ( on a Monday evening) , and I suspect that if they want to stay in business something will have to change from their end, unless you, the client, can go pass their penny pinching mentality.

India Gate is a great spot for a homestyle Indian meal in the heart of DC's trendy DuPont Circle. Strolled in here for dinner with a few friends and had a great experience. Friendly customer service throughout.

At first was apprehensive because Indian food in the DC area tends to either try to hard (Rasika and Indique Heights) or be overly oily and creamy (places clustered around Woodley Park Metro). India Gate was more like a homestyle meal, made with fresh ingredients and neither oily nor heavy. Got a sweet lassi to start and it was delicious. Had samosas for appetizer and while the crust was a little thick, the filling was tasty! Ordered the banghan barta and vegetable korma, I liked both but preferred the banghan. Also ordered the raita, which was fresh. They gave plenty of real basmati rice with the order and it didn't clump and wasn't dry.

True sign of a good meal - the leftover banghan and rice was just as good the next day for lunch! If you're looking for a stable Indian meal in a comfortable and casual dining atmosphere, India Gate is your place. I also overheard that the head chef was formerly of the esteemed Bombay Club, a choice destination for overseas dignitaries on visits to DC. If so, why not get a Bombay Club meal at a fraction of the price!?
