Nu - Way Shoe Shop

The owner, Sal, is a real asset to the community. He works on everyday shoe needs as well as orthopedic and diabetic foot care. He will often put the needs of those with medical needs before the average person, which means his completion time may shift. My shoes are like new. I visited him a couple of times because he had several orthopedic needs that came in.

I was very excited when I found this shop and discovered that they could resole my Birkenstocks. I dropped my sandals off at the end of May 2023. I was told they would be finished June 9th. The man was very kind and told me that he would be out of town for a few days after the 9th so if I didn't get them on that day, I would need to wait a few days. I really appreciated the information and came back on the 9th to pick up my sandals. They weren't done. The man asked me to come back in an hour and they would be finished. I did so, and they were. I didn't foresee any problems; the sandals looked good and they had nice new soles on them.

I wore my sandals twice after picking them up. On the second time, the toe piece broke. It came up from where it was attached between the sole and the footbed of the sandal. I took it back, and was told that it would be fixed. I waited a month before calling only to be told that it was not done. He said I should call back in a week. I waited two weeks before calling back only to be told that it still was not fixed and to call back in a week. I called back the next week to, again, be told that it was not finished and to call the next week. The next week, instead of calling, I showed up to talk to him about it. I was promised that it would be finished by the next week. My husband went back the next week. The sandal was not done and he was told to come back in an hour. He went back in an hour and was handed a fixed sandal.

When he came home, I compared the two sandals. It looked to me like he had replaced all the leather with a slightly different color, but they were both the same size and I just assumed they were both mine. It was now September and I hadn't been able to wear my sandals all summer.

Several months later, I received a call from him telling me that he had given me the wrong sandal. He had found a sandal with my name and number on it. He asked if I would exchange sandals with him. I did so. It is now January 2024. I finally have both of my sandals though the repair job on the break is rough and hurts when I walk.
