Purple Earth Comics

Great store, literally packed floor to ceiling with common and really hard to find merchandise. Great selection of comic books and graphic novels, and, I don't know how Purple John does it, but the guy is incredibly knowledgeable of about everything nerd related. It is my go to now. I don't even look at Amazon or any other website if I am looking to add to my collectibles and graphic novels.

This store has something for everyone!

I've been going to Purple Earth for over a decade now. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area. There's always something to find in the shop. John is really good about keeping track of his regulars and what they need. :)

The owner is a really cool dude, known him as a customer for 10+ years! Always has a smile on his face and willing to help his customers. Support local! Shop Local! Keep great businesses like this is business..

My only complaint is the store needs a bit more space. Feels very cramped.
But in a good geeky way at the same time.

Absolutely amazing store.
I used to get my comics here when I went to the nearby University, because the owner treats every customer like a long-time friend. He is always willing to talk about things, knows tons about comics, and he's a good listener as well.
Not to mention he will hold comics for you, text you when they come in (but no urgency to pick them up right away), make special orders for you (a single customer) and sometimes find some great deals on things he may not have currently in the store
I came in for comics, but I loved coming back each month just for the experience.
Not to mention, the place is stacked floor-to-ceiling with more comics and figures than would normally fit in a space twice this size! Felt like a real treasure trove, and I can't recommend the store enough.

I have been a patron of Purple Earth comics for over 20 years. I have moved out of Huntington but always make a point to visit when I am in town. John, the owner, is a rare person who is passionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind and inviting. There is a sense of community amongst the patrons that I have never seen duplicated elsewhere. Despite being a slightly cramped space, Purple Earth is truly a gem in Huntington.

This shop has lots of merchandise, you will need to watch your step to make sure you don't knock anything down. That isn't a bad thing! We found many treasures in our brief stop. We had failed to notice that they were closing in 10 minutes when we arrived, but we were never rushed and I got to take home lots of new Ghostbusters stuff! We will be going back next time we are in West Virginia!

I guarantee that this store will have something for everyone. I am unsure how so much cool merch could be in such a smaller shop, but it is and it is a geeky heaven.

To the Galaxy and Beyond! Though it is a bit unorganized; the owner, John, is an amazing guy. Not only does he know comics and enjoys discovering what you're into. I love hashing out conversations with him about stories; give it be movies, comics, shows, whatever, he's got your back. Plus, he's a hella nice guy! I've gone to the other comics shops in town, and he's by far the best! You can talk to him and he's got your back! Honestly, it's like a hidden gem within Huntington!

Owner is amazing. Welcomed my wife, two small children (ages 2yr and 6mnths) with open arms. He dug through boxes of comics to find ones that would hold my daughters interest (2yr old). Great store with great prices and selections. Not just comics either. Tons of collectables one toys. Definitely found my new shop

John is the best, helped me find underrated comics I've been searching for everywhere! Couldn't find anything online, in BAM, or other shopts.
It might look unorganized and a mess, but as soon as I said one character, he zipped through the entire store and pulled every item related to them! He goes above and beyond making sure fans know when they receive new items that are they're interested in. Gives lots of options and is very knowledgeable and one of the kindest comic shop owners I've met. I felt unwelcomed at the other shop in downtown but as soon as I stepped in purple earth I was immediately greated and you can tell how much energy and love he puts into the store.

I went to Marshall University in the early 2000s and this was my go-to comic book shop back then. Like alot of 80s and 90s kids, I fell away from comics after the crash in the mid-nineties. John brought me back. He always had great recommendations and I have been reading and collecting ever since. I've lived all over the country in the 15 years since I graduated, and I have never found another shop that even came close to Purple Earth.

I love going into the store. Some may call it cluttered, but I see it as a wall of treasure. lol. The customer service you get from John is outstanding, and is much more friendly than the store down the street. Hands down a great place for comics.

Not a big back issue store, but that would be my only critique. Excellent, friendly service and a wide range of current issues. If John doesn't have it, he can usually get it for you.

John is the most helpful, authentic, amazing shop owner I have ever visited. I make special trips back just to see John and still do business with him from 4 hours away. John is amazing.

This is the best LCS in the Tristate. Comics, trades, Pops, action figures, statues, it's all here and you won't believe the selection. The owner is an encyclopedia of knowledge on comics and collectables.

Such nice staff that make you feel so welcome! This place is so cozy and gives the vibe of nostalgia! Might come here every day!
