This is maybe the best ice cream I've ever had. I recently moved from another city that didn't have much in the way of ice-cream parlors, and I am thrilled to have JP Licks available. Again, the ice cream itself is amazing: the flavors and texture of it are going to be really hard to top. I highly recommend getting a Sundae; having getting to choose a few different kinds of ice cream, plus toppings, lets you put together something really special. Plus whipped cream and a cherry on top.

What’s not to like about ice cream. Extra stars for serving at the perfect eating temperature. Great choices and healthy portions! Oh yea!!!

Verdict: Will definitely return

JP Licks has always been our go-to-place for ice cream. Lots of flavors that are rich and creamy but not too sweet. They recently made a donation to my daughter's school spring concert so we are forever grateful for their generosity.

We're visiting grandchildren and venturing out to find the "best" ice cream in the commutable area. It's a tough job, but it's all performed with parental approval of course. (mostly, we're grandparents after all) J.P.Licks flavors and creaminess brings the ice cream near the top of the list. Only negative is the portion size is near the bottom.

For reference purposes and arguable comparisons J.P.Licks rates #3 out of 8 we have tried so far this week. The difference in the top 3 is slim, there is a large gap between these 3 and the lower 5. Our pseudo professional ratings categories include creaminess (how much the frozen deliciousness resembles heavy cream or at least half-and-half when melting in the mouth, along with whether there is any crunchiness due to a freezing process that gives ice crystals similar to a lot of store bought ice cream that has been open in the home freezer a bit too long), complexity and originality of flavor options, and finally the value proposition of portion size.

Now that you've read this far, here are our rankings:
1 - Cal's Creamery
2 - Westside Creamery
3 - J.P.Licks
4 - Kimball Farm
5 - Rancatore's
6 - C.B.Scoops
7 - Colleen's
8 - Capital Creamery

Our quest will continue with subsequent visits, it's a tough job.

Ice cream was delicious I got the Ube and the cake one and it was delightful. You can tell they put a lot of effort into making their flavors!

Stopped in for a single scoop nothing fancy, Cookies n Cake Batter!!! Bruh. I’ve never had anything like it and it was probably the best ice cream I’ve had! Not an artificial cake batter taste and a good amount of cookie mix ins. If they shipped or distributed they would take all my money. It was definitely pricey at $6+ for a single scoop and no toppings but I’d take it over a pint of the other stuff any day.

Great ice cream joint with a lot of exciting flavors! A little pricey, but if you're ready for that I highly recommend it.

Pretty good ice cream in a range of flavors, including, occasionally, cocktail favors like margarita. My favorite flavor ever is their brandied cherry chocolate this past fall. Taste bud bliss. They have a steady menu of flavors, plus a rotating monthly selection of special flavors. Scoopers are almost always friendly, and sometimes generously heavy-handed with portions. Their ice cream is certified kosher, if that matters to you. They even sell Cheryl Anne challah now and then. They also do coffee drinks, and ice cream sandwiches, cupcakes and can do ice cream cakes. You can earn cow points, their reward system, with the app or card which you can get from them, and if you eat ice cream often - it gets me through winter blues - you can rack up rewards pretty quickly. $5 for every $50 you spend, I believe. My only beef is sometimes it seems a full half of their flavors are variations of cookies and cream, which seems to be Boston's number one most loved ice cream flavor, but how many variations of it do we need? They have art by local artists on the walls, a different artist each month. This is a Boston chain, with a very local feel. All in all a fun ice cream shop.

Pricey, but worth it. Some of the best ice cream around!
The cookies and cake batter is unique!
The myer rum raisin (real rum) is delightful!
The coffee cookies and cream is perfect!

This ice cream is just amazing. It is by far the thickest and most flavorful ice cream I've ever had. It's somewhat expensive, but it's so rich that you really only need a small serving to be satisfied. Highly recommend the cookies and cake batter ice cream!

I come to this location regularly for my ice cream. I wanted to comment, though, that I had wonderful experience being served by Reverly (not sure if I got the spelling correct). She was kind and polite throughout the entire time of serving me! And the ice cream…that was great too!

Great ice cream in a wide variety of flavors! I also appreciate that they have a range of soft serve and non-dairy options, as well as food and beverages. Their ice cream is creamy and has that "stretch" to it that means it was made with care. Plus... they're open late!
