SSIA Pickleball

SSIA stands for South Suburban Ice Arena, but this facility has been converted into a 4 court pickleball facility that features drop in play (pickleball) and archery. It features a hard court tennis surface, rollaway temp nets, and plenty of space between divided courts. Lighting is very good and on par with any private facility such as 3rd shot drop, Parker Racquet Club, and Westminster PP. Painted lines are now augmented with tape for better visibility.

Great spot for everyone to get ice time!

My son age 5 is learning to skate with hopes of playing Hockey in near future. This facility will close soon as a brand new will open in a couple weeks. We have 30min sessions every saturday for 8 weeks. Today was the first of these. I was impressed with the instructor of his 8 kid group. She was very thorough and easy for the kids to understand. Looking forward to another 7 weeks with high hopes we will be skating at hockey level

We've now gone there two years in a row for my daughter's birthday. This year they couldn't give us a birthday package with a room and food etc but still gave us a reasonable price for admission and we were able to do the party part on benches right outside. Communicating with Jeff was very easy, he's very helpful.

My daughter loves skating here. Sessions are not too busy and the coaching staff is great. The people working behind the desk get to know you! It is also a great place to come for some family fun!

This is a wonderful and local ice rink! The people there are friendly and there is almost always one rink open for public skating. It's a great place to take your kids, get some exercise, or even have a teen date. It's affordable and local to the Southglen area, making it easy to access from most of the South Metro suburbs. So, ice fans: lace up and give it a whirl!

Your typical rink. Nothing that is pretty but feels and smells like the old days when I played hockey. There was tournament going on and it was pretty fun to watch. Public skate was nice and the zamboni driver even came out and gave me pointers on how to teach my 2 year old how to skate. Very nice people and decent enough ice.

The South Suburban Ice Arena is a terrific community resource, offering ice skating lessons for all ages, hockey leagues and games, and open skating times. It can get quite busy on weekends and holidays. The arena features a snack bar and a full service skate shop, where you can buy equipment and get your skates tuned or sharpened. There are a couple of ice shows hosted here each year, in which kids of any skill level can participate.

We skate here often. The rinks seem to be a little smaller than the ones at the FSC, but I think the ice is better here at South Suburban. It doesn’t get as choppy as fast, even on days with similar attendance to FSC.

I also love the feel of the place. It’s nostalgic and charming. It doesn’t feel like a sports megaplex because it’s not. The staff are kind, helpful, and passionate. It feels like everyone there is there because they want to be, not because they have to be.

I skate here all the time and it is AMAZING. People don't watch you unless they need to, so you can figure skate/hockey skate in peace. Nice little snacks bar.

I am taking Tennis coaching here. Nice indoor ground, and good for those who want to learn or play tennis during winter.

Figure skate and hockey lessons provided through SSPR. The public skate schedule is provided on the website. The staff are friendly and professional.

This Ice Skating rink was really nice about thirty years ago and my girlfriend Evette lived right around the corner I wonder where she is now.
