What a great local hardware store. I work at a local golf course and this place has had everything I've needed so far. I needed some nine inch heavy duty bolts and had no problem finding them. Home Depot and Lowe's were both out of stock. If you're close to purcellville I would check this place first it's small but they've had everything I've needed so far. The owners and staff are amazing and nice.

This is a hardware in the old school sense. This is where you go first, so that you don't have to go somewhere else to find the last few things on your list.

I miss the old Nichols Hardware when they wrote up each ticket by hand. It was part of the charm of the place. I know the upgrade to computerized sales makes it more efficient in so many ways. I know many customers found it annoying as I stood in line behind them they would turn and ask me, "do they always write up every ticket?" No problem with service or parking, that part is still the same and still love going in there. Employees are always very helpful.

This a fun step back in time shopping experience. Don’t go here expecting a big box store inventory or environment .

•Go here because it is extremely helpful to have a local hardware store that is easy to get to And open seven days a week.
• Go here because they have hard to find items, several employees that have decades of hardware experience.
• Go here because you are not likely to ever see another throwback, historic store like it. A wall of wooden drawers with screws, nails, percolator tops, hinges, door stops etc..... they even have a cool wooden ladder on a rail behind the nostalgic register that the employees will climb to pull down that unique item for your inspection. Love Nichols Hardware and hope they are still serving customers for my children’s children when the time comes.

First time here and I became a regular. The women here were super helpful. When we couldn't find things I needed they looked it up on there system to order it for me. Great place and will be coming back.

Great local, small town hardware store. The make me feel at home. If you want know what it was like before Home Depot came around, visit Nichols Hardware.

The deli and coffee cafe is beautiful. Charming decor with lots of space. The coffee was fresh and very good! I had an Ruben sandwich that was truly one of the best I've eaten. Looking out the cafe window at the small town wondering how things were 100 years ago!

Nichols hardware is a true small town hardware store. With a motto of "if we don't have it you don't need it" you know they have a little of everything. From hand tools, to hardware to the hard to find items such as copper flashing they really do have something for everyone.

The staff is quite helpful and the atmosphere is quite laid-back. Prices are well above the big box stores but price isn't everything the service is top shelf it's worth an extra buck or two.

These folks are doing a great job! You pay a little more to buy in town, but you would spend the difference (in change) for gas driving to Leesburg big box stores. I can pretty much find anything I need here, and in any quantities. Case in point: on a recent project, I needed "one" nut to fit "one" bolt. I went to Nichols, went to the hardware drawers, found the nut, paid a nickel and left satisfied. At the big box stores, you'd have to guess on the threads and buy a "package" of needed nuts or bolts.

Nichols has upped its game since I last visited a few years ago! When Ace Hardware didn’t have the 3/8” lag bolt length I needed, I drove the extra miles to see if Nichols had it. Not only it, but more! Plus, they’ve gone partially modern (no more hand-written receipts) and have improved the layout, with well organized and well supplied inventory, but with the oldfashioned feel and authenticity of a hardware store with wooden cabinet drawers for lists of stuff.

Yes, it is hard to find stuff...but the staff is great and very helpful. Having been in the shop when a very unfortunate incident occurred that made the Washington Post, it was good to see the owner get involved and make things right. Also, it appears that the store has been fully restocked - a positive sign!

They always have the odds and ends I need and it beats running all the way to Leesburg for hardware. Sometimes there is slow service but they always get it right and are kind. Very nostalgic for me since the place hasn't changed since I was a kid. I'm glad my kids will experience the Nichols I grew up with! If you're new to Purcellville and need household goods, hardware, keys copied, cool old school toys for kids, stop by and see if they have what you need and save yourself a trip to the big box stores.

Nichol's Hardware is my happy place. Whether it's the creaky floorboards, the wall of drawers or the sheer joy of wandering aimlessly, I'm never disappointed. They've got everything and if you can't find it, just ask. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - a rare combination!

This is what a small town hardware store is. You can smell the history in the wood wnen you walk in. They always have everything I need for projects around my house, good prices, sells nails and such by weight like the old days. I will give these folks my buainess whenevet possible.
