The campground is newly renovated. Sites are paved, fairly level and provide good privacy. We stayed in a site with water and electric but not all site have these. Only downside is that the CG is fairly far from popular hiking trails. We had to rise at 5AM to get to trailheads before they were completely full.

Beautiful camp grounds in the Smokey Mountains. HOWEVER, DO NOT FOLLOW GOGGLE MAPS TO THAT CAMPSITE. If you follow Google Maps and your pulling a camper you will over heat your truck or Motorhome. It's straight up with 180 degree turns, it's a switch back from HELL. But it's a beautiful place.

We happened upon the campground because we had a toddler who needed a diaper change in a proper bathroom with running water sink… and the park staff was kind enough to let us come in (instead of using the pit toilet at picnic area… the new bathroom faculties in picnic area were not complete).

The bathrooms are clean and easy to get to.
The campsites we saw had great views - especially the tent areas which had pads/decks on the slope of the mountain. The pulling were close together but still had many trees.
Since we didn’t stay more than 10 min, I can’t comment much - except to say that it looked mostly full and very calm, and that there is significant road noise. Maybe there are less motorcycles or overnight.

Nice secluded campground off of the Foothills Parkway. They have some nice sites with cooking and restrooms. I believe there are approx. 70 sites. You'll need a permit and vehicle pass

The good:
After being closed for nine years this campground has just been reopened on October 15 after a $4.5+ million upgrade. Practically everything is new including the roads, parking areas, utilities including electrical and water, picnic benches, tent gravel pads and even the bathrooms have been redone. This was and is our favorite campground in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as it is not as crowded an normally has less noise than other campgrounds. (Not counting road noise. See below.)

Nice scenic overlooks on the Foothills Parkway.

Multiple water outlets & trash bins in the campground.

We have Verizon and depending where you are in the campground we got 1 bar to 4 bar LTE service. At Look Rock the weather station tower which has wonderful views and is a short walk from the campground we got a full 5 bar service. Most any provider should be full service from that location. I am pretty confident that for this campground you can wait to get there to see what spot you want and then make a reservation on the Recreation.gov app. We did and had no issue although in the lower spots of 37-70 it may take a while.

Out of all the camping spots there are 10 that have electrical and water hook ups for you RV and camper people.

A lot of people miss the lighted large wash sinks between the male and female restrooms.

The bad:
As this is next to the Foothills Parkway there are at times some vehicle noise especially loud racing motorcycles.

Spots 23-26 are right next to a house that somebody built right next to the campground. Ruins the camping feeling so avoid those spots.

There are no showers.

The campground is a loop so there was a good amount of vehicles coming through with people looking around. That should lessen over time as it was on all the local news outlets about the reopening so most were locals looking at the redone campground.

This campground is a little bit away from the tourist sites of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Seveirville. To us that is great but to others maybe not. You are near the small community of Townsend though which bills itself as "The Peaceful Side Of The Smokies".

Very nice campground. Well laid out. Beautiful views nearby. Not too far from all the action but far enough away for peace and quiet enjoyment.

The campground is newly reopened, the road is nicely paved, a few sites have electricity but most don't. There's a dump station for RVs, and bathrooms but no showers. Don't expect your parking space to be level, expect to use blocks for your RV or trailer. There's the sound of motorcycles enjoying the tight twisty road to get here, but otherwise it's pure nature, with turkeys wandering around and a hiking trail to the tower.

Beautiful campground in a great location! We stayed during the peak of fall colors and it was beautiful. Most of the sites are VERY close together, so be prepared to get to know your neighbors. One of the hosts was a little rude about the campground being a one way road, but when we went, there want any signage except for one “do not enter” sign near one of the bathrooms. They need to put up signs if that’s the case.
