Happy's Cafe

We stayed for three weeks in Roan Mountain. The burgers are excellent! Broiled not fried. They genuinely care about their customers. The atmosphere is fun and Mayberry-like. Give them a try. They work hard when the place is packed and they treat folks like friends.

I've eaten there several times recent;y (I'm writing this in September 2015) and every experience has been uniformly pleasant.

The food is always prepared as I like it, whether I'm getting breakfast or lunch, the coffee's good, and the prices extraordinarily reasonable.

I fully intend to eat there again in the very near future

Ignored by 3 employees & after 5 minutes, ready to leave. Had to ask waiter to wipe the table (sticky). Informed upon ordering they were out of biscuits & gravy (they serve breakfast all day and we were there at noon). Food arrived & waitress walked away without providing silverware. Tried to get her attention, but could not, had to go to up to register and ask for it. No real sugar on table for my grits. Three tables later, I found some. Toast was soggy. Food oak, will not be going back.

It was ok. But gressy. I wouldn't go here for a dinner...
